Chapter 27 THE PLAN TO GET RID OF THE VAMPIRES

Weeks turned into months, and Valentin and I grew closer with each passing day. We would spend hours talking, laughing, and exploring the town together. I had never felt this way about anyone before, and I couldn't believe how much I had fallen for him.
But unknown to me, our relationship had not gone unnoticed. My friends and the rest of the students had started to whisper among themselves, their eyes filled with suspicion and distrust. They would glance at me with a mixture of confusion and concern, and I couldn't understand why.
It wasn't until I overheard a conversation between Emily and Sarah that I realized what was going on.
"Ava's changed," Emily said, her voice barely above a whisper. "She's always with him, and she seems so...different."
Sarah nodded in agreement. "I know, right? It's like she's under some kind of spell or something."
I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized what they were talking about. They were talking about Valentin, and our relationship.
But I had no idea that things were about to take a dark turn. The humans had been planning something, something that would change everything.
"Ava, we need to talk," Emily said, approaching me one day. "We know about you and Valentin, and we don't think it's a good idea."
I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. "What do you mean?" I asked.
Emily hesitated, looking around nervously. "The humans have planned to erase all the vampires from the earth," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "And we don't want you to get hurt."
My heart skipped a beat as I realized the truth. The humans saw vampires as a threat, and they were planning to destroy them. And I was caught right in the middle.
I felt a wave of shock wash over me as Emily's words hung in the air. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice shaking.
Emily's expression was grim. "The vampires have been attacking students, Ava. They're killing them, and the humans are tired of it. They want to take action."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Valentin would never hurt anyone, I thought. But then I remembered the stories he had told me, about the rogue vampires who didn't care about human life.
"How many?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Emily hesitated before answering. "Too many, Ava. Every day, we lose someone. And it's not just the vampires. They're recruiting humans, turning them into...into monsters."
I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized the truth. This wasn't just about Valentin and me; it was about the safety of the entire town.
"But Valentin is different," I said, trying to convince Emily. "He would never hurt anyone."
Emily's expression was sympathetic, but firm. "I know you believe that, Ava. But we can't take the risk. We have to protect ourselves, our families, our friends."
I knew Emily was right, but my heart was torn. I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to Valentin, but I also couldn't ignore the danger that the vampires posed.
"What can we do?" I asked, feeling a sense of helplessness.
Emily's eyes locked onto mine, determination burning in their depths. "We have to support the humans, Ava. We have to help them eradicate the vampires, no matter how hard it is.
I nodded my head, trying to appear resolute, but deep down, I was torn apart by conflicting emotions. I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to Valentin, but at the same time, I couldn't ignore the danger that the rogue vampires posed.
Emily explained the plan to me, her voice steady and determined. "We'll gather at the old warehouse on the outskirts of town three days from now," she said. "The humans will have weapons, and we'll have...other ways of defending ourselves."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized the gravity of the situation. This was it, the moment of truth.
"What about Valentin?" I asked, trying to keep my voice neutral.
Emily's expression was sympathetic, but firm. "I'm sorry, Ava. He's one of them. He'll be a target."
I nodded, trying to process the information. Three days, that's all the time I had left with Valentin.
As Emily left, I felt a sense of desperation wash over me. I had to warn Valentin, but how? And what would happen if I did? Would I be putting him in greater danger?
I knew I had to make a choice, but my heart and mind were at war. What was I going to do?
The plan was to lure the vampires out of their hiding places by hosting a festival all over town, making it seem like a normal day. But, unbeknownst to the vampires, the human sorcerer would perform a powerful spell to bring out the sun, even in the midst of darkness. The spell would make the sun shine brightly, covering the entire town, and burning any vampire who dared to step outside.
I felt a chill run down my spine as I thought about the plan. It was genius, but also terrifying. I couldn't bear the thought of Valentin, or any other vampire, perishing in such a way.
As the day of the festival approached, I knew I had to make a decision. I couldn't just stand by and watch as Valentin, and possibly others like him, were destroyed. But, if I warned him, I would be putting myself and others at risk.
I tried to push the thoughts out of my mind, but they lingered, haunting me. I knew I had to do something, but what?
The day of the festival arrived, and the town was filled with laughter and music. I saw Valentin, standing at the edge of the crowd, his eyes fixed on me. I knew I had to make a choice, and I had to make it now.
Do I warn him, or do I stand by and watch as he perishes? The fate of Valentin, and possibly others like him, rested in my hands.
