26 - Secret Words
Kalester gaze into his eyes. "I am full aware of your situation, and the reason you've been avoiding to go west, but I have no intention of meddling. The reason that I am sending you there is to become underground informant. I will be expanding our influence through desert or mountains if it means wider range of informations."
That is right, though they already have the most information in the empire. He still wants to expand his influence throughout the entire world. The influence of the church is like two worlds apart. Before he regresses, they intervene and use the chaos to build up the empire for their gain.
Valentine apart from the remaining foundation. There's no way that they can withstand the blows of the church. The expansion of influence will vary his power to spread wide, and gain information that would serve him right. When the church intervenes once again, he won't be still.
That resolve did not change even now with his relationship to the daughter of the Roqueves Family. To be fair, both families do not hate each other. The emperor did not find Valentine a good subject as well, that influences the other nobles to do the same. Hence, the truth is far greater than it seems.
Valentine's long time good old friend is none other than the Roqeuves. If the family merges as one, they will become stronger than even the Imperial Family. Both powers combined can create a stronger unity, that even the emperor could not sever.
His goal will not change, so long as Catholy remains by his side. It was rather ridiculous, the Valentine Family is not an ordinary house like everyone else. There is a reason that they are called barbarians. That is because, they lived in a place up north of the mountain range. With abnormal seasonal weather, different from other regions.
The weather in the north has only winter and spring as its season, along with fall. The other one, summer does not waver at the sky of the said region that is why it is abnormal. The longest season they have is winter which passes through six months of freezing winter. That is why, the north is warmer than any other place.
That said, the raids of bandits raging up north did not end. The Valentine protects the border that the bandits or hordes will always attack. The border up north is also the weakest fortress in the entire empire. Protecting it can avoid any means of conflict, but as time passes, it is forgotten completely.
Before Kalester regression, the border was attacked. Invasion was formed, and the dogs that he fed bark back to him times the collateral. That said, these rebels that were hiding in nearby kingdoms have caused much havoc. He still did not forget what they did, that is why he's paying them extra carefully.
"Beside, a dog that barks back needs some punishment," he mumbled to himself but was enough for Rone to catch on.
However, he decided to shrug the thought seeing as his master was showing a sign of bloodlust. He does not often show this kind of hostility, that is why Rone has never seen this kind of expression. He looked down as to avoid his gaze, he was not sure why he felt extremely frightful but one thing he understood. His master, the future Grand Duke Valentine is not someone that they can mess with.
"Oh, that is right," said Kalester as he breathed out. "Don't worry, you are not alone. I will send the others as well so for a while, the information house will undergo a closing operation."
He tilted, and then Rone looked back. "Everyone?" he asked.
"Yes, everyone but also some of you. Others will have a different job, but you and all of the Thirteen Table will be sent throughout the entire world for the same reason, gather information, and report back," said Kalester with a calm response.
Thirteen Table? It is a ranking system of the information house agent. The thirteen individual was chosen prior to their contribution, and their work performance during the operation. Though the Thirteen Table is famous among the other information houses, it was also rare to see them gather together unless the master summoned all of them.
In the sense of ranking, the reason that Rone has to hear this first is because, in all of the thirteen, Rone ranked as the first, and the leader of the entire table.
"In that case, I will convey it to the others," he said but Kalester shook his hand.
"Do not bother, a meeting is set in one week time. All of you will have to attend the gathering, no later than in the afternoon," said Kalester with a demand.
"I... I see, then I will convey it that way." Rone said, yet his voice was filled with curiosity that was so shrugged by his determination to serve his master.
"You may leave now, and don't forget our agreement, regarding which and what you did not see today," the young lord said to Rone before he darted him to leave.
As a man who understands his master very well, this kind of behavior was new to him. "Then, take care," he stood up as he walked towards the door leaving Kalester and Catholy who seemed to be sound asleep.
As he walked out of the door, and when he completely closed them off. He took a second look at the guard beside him, and then he quietly bowed. The relationship of their master seems to be secret, so it matters to them to hide that fact. In which both of them went to a silent agreement before Rone left the area.

I woke up as I felt the soft cotton below me. When I saw the ceiling, I was immediately taken aback. The ceiling was made of plain wood, and the strange room surprised me. I then stood up, as I noticed a blanket on me, feeling disoriented.
I observed the parameters and realized that it was not my room. It took me a minute of realization before I shook my head, and turned back.
"You're finally awakened," a soft voice soon mumbled and it made me breathe out.
"Are you done talking to Rone?" I asked.
"Yes, he left awhile ago," he silently replied before he looked at me in the eye.
"I came to discuss something, I apologize for barging in like that," I calmly said as I carefully seated properly.
"It was a surprising appearance, considering how you've played with my emotions, however, I am fine with it," he mumbled as he looked down, and he was looking into some documents.
I just gave a quick chuckle and I nodded. He was the one who quickly reacted, though I find his reaction scary, it was quite cute as well. Who knew, the infamous Kalester Valentine can show such a face? The nobility won't believe me if I were to say it.
"What's so funny?" he then suddenly asked making me chuckle more.
"Nothing," then I quickly brushed it off. "I need to talk to you about Ephesia Rush."
His highness condition is indeed a common illness amongst mobility, but it is also the rarest case. We don't know much about the origin of that disease, much more how it started.
There are few things about that disease which I am concerned about, not just where it started or where it came from. There's not much time needed to lose, I have to find a way to stop the disease from spreading through his body.
That said, my knowledge is lesser than before.
"I see," he replied as he put down the papers and he looked at me. "Go on, I'll listen."
"Yes," I nodded as I breathed out. "I find it suspicious that a disease such as Ephesia Rush can contribute a condition of being contiguous. This disease is one of the rarest cases in the empire, I am not sure about its medical status but I know his highness is not suffering from a said disease. This is my theory, but I think her majesty is not aware, what if the first prince is actually over-dosing a poison that could trigger a disease the same as Ephesia Rush?"
It's not clear yet, but it's something that Rone found on his investigation. Why does the palace need to give his high dosage of unknown medicine? It's not normal at all, plus, Ephesia Rush can't be found in pharmacy records. We don't know the direct origin of this disease, but it is also common amongst nobility.
That said, it's not something that would spread by a mere touch of wind. I have seen his highness the first prince once, some of his body parts have all the symptoms of the said disease but it was not the same as the others who suffer from it. I contributed in the search for this disease before, but I am still unsure without the confirmation of a doctor or pharmacist.
"I've investigated it before," he mumbled and I suddenly looked at him confused.
"Before? Right, so why did you do that?" I asked when suddenly his face turned pallid and he held his chin as his looked down.
"Those damned bastards had to put someone else on the tabs of their own crimes, after you've been killed by them. They added one more crime to your name. I had to know the reason because even after they killed you, that damn emperor still blamed you for the first prince's death, as well as the death of her majesty." He then carefully slammed his hand on the table, as each world felt heavy to convey.
I was left speechless but I felt as if this were all my fault. Not because of what he said, but because of what I stupidly did. I have put a heavy burden in his heart, and I feel guilty about it. Even after death, he still took care of me.
I carefully stood up and then I quietly walked towards him. If maybe I had once a pride to survive before, he wouldn't have to go through hell just because of my actions. No man wants to see their loved ones felt amiss, that same goes to as women, we don't want to see our man suffer.
I then gently put my hand on his head and I gently pull his closer. "This is all my fault, I'm sorry," I said and then he gave a long silence before he tightly grabbed my waist as he hugged me.
"Just promise me, this time, don't dare die on me again. If that were to happen, I might actually destroy this world," he whispered and I chuckled.
