“I want to clear the whole first week of the next month” JL requested the command to his assistant. The assistant nodded, “Good timing, sir. Your schedule for those days is vacant”. It is the second match of their legacy and after that, he plans to reveal what he is hiding with Naomi. One of the rules in their legacy is to not conceive a child without marriage to be listed.
He leaned back and planned on how he will expose the truth to his family first. The controversy Naomi has is making everything complicated. Their family is influential and it will totally be broadcasted in public once they reveal what happened. Later that night, JL went to Lorenzia’s condo unit where Naomi lives for two months now.
He tiredly sat down in the sofa. Naomi greeted her with a glass of water; he received it and drank it to its bottom. He glanced at Naomi’s baby bump; it increased in size rapidly. “Is the credit in the card still enough to buy your necessities?” he asked abruptly without him greeting her first. “Yeah, I can use my cloned credit card if ever it loses balance” she answered.
JL can’t still accept the fact that Naomi is pregnant and it is him whom she claims as the father. Naomi excitingly sat down beside JL whose eyes are focused on the television. “It is about time that we will be informed of the baby’s gender. Do you want to come with me to the OB tomorrow?” she asked with a smile on her face. JL ignored her excitement, “No, I have surgeries to do tomorrow. Besides, you can ask Lorenzia if you need assistance” he refused.
Naomi’s smile faded away. The news JL is watching suddenly released a headline report stating, “Borderless’ Media’s young CEO flew back to the Philippines to search for his runaway bride, the young CEO of New Empire International Media, Miss Naomi Nievez”. She stood in disbelief; she cupped her mouth and shook her head, “This can’t be! He can’t find me or else he will drag me with him again” she uttered.
“Can’t you just go with him? You agreed to marry him and now you are backing out with a pregnant body? Do you know how a man feels if you do that?” JL asked. Naomi’s little tears flowed down to her cheeks and answered, “Haven’t I told you? He cheated on me and he abused me. Should I be the one to get questioned right now? Do you also know what I felt in that wedding? As I go closer and closer while witnessing the people’s smiles, I feel like I am suffocating. Everyone involved in that event is manipulating me to Luke”.
She wiped her tears and went inside the bedroom. JL looked away with guilt in his eyes. Naomi makes sense and he thinks that he is dumb to forget how Luke treated Naomi. He witnessed how he hurt Naomi back from the Alumni Homecoming. He felt satisfied knowing that Naomi ran away from her fiancé in Australia. He looked at Luke’s picture in the news and whispered, “It’s time for me to get back on you, Luke. I will give you a revenge using Naomi”. He smirked evilly while his hands are clasped to his chin.
JL spent the night in Lorenzia’s condo; he felt possessive after knowing that Luke came back to find Naomi. When the morning came, he was the one to make everything ready for Naomi to avoid going outside. He filled up the pantry, restocked the items and even prepared breakfast for her. He opened a white board marker’s lid and wrote something on the board’s surface.
“From now on, you can’t go out and go to wherever you want. You should only trust me and Lorenzia. Refrain from ordering food deliveries. I know Luke is smart and I can’t leave a single loophole for him to use as a clue” JL reminded while buttoning up his uniform. He was about to go when he remembered something, “And another thing, I will pick you up for the ultrasound appointment later” he said.
Naomi had her eyes widened, “Really?” she asked with a wide smile. JL replied annoyingly, “Do I need to repeat myself?” he asked back. Naomi shook her head, “No, I got it”. JL immediately went outside the condo unit after reminding Naomi a few things for her to be secured. Naomi locked the door and brought out every joy she has.
For now, she only has Lorenzia and JL’s contacts in her new phone. After leaving the country, she threw her phone out thinking that it is connected to Luke’s tracking application. She is just being entertained inside Lorenzia’s condo unit with a smart television and few magazines. Her secret social media account can only contact JL and Lorenzia also.
Every single day, she never missed an episode of news where Luke kept on finding her. But then, Naomi is way smarter; with Luke announcing his initial plan in plotting on how to search for Naomi, she on the other hand uses Luke’s plan to make an escape plan also. “I can’t let you manipulate me again, Luke” she said in her mind.
In the kitchen, she was greeted by the strawberry waffles JL made with her prenatal milk being blended and smoothed with strawberries also. “I know you still haven’t changed, love” she said in her mind once again. She enjoyed the naturally sweetened strawberry waffles and drank the strawberry milk smoothie. When she looked around, she saw the pantry cabinets and the fruit basket filled with stocks. She got confused on how JL managed to fix everything in an early hour.
She excitingly prepared for the ultrasound appointment happening in a few hours. She dressed up to her best maternity dress and let her naturally curled hair flow to her back. JL on the other hand is busy in processing his ongoing surgery. He is performing an appendectomy to a teenager who is physically active in sports. He looked at the time elapsed in the clock inside the operating room.
Gladly, the surgery just took about one hour in the clock. “Finish this up for me, I have an appointment to attend to” he said to his assistant surgeon who is now ready for the skin incision. He removed his surgical scrubs and walked back to his office while dialing Naomi’s phone number. After two rings, Naomi already picked up the call.
“What took you so long to answer?” JL annoyingly asked. Naomi playfully answered, “Why? Are you worried that maybe Luke already caught me to bring me back abroad?”. JL exhaled, “Get ready in twenty minutes. I am on my way; do not keep the door open. I will call you when I am in front of the entrance already” he instructed. After that, he already dropped the call. She patiently waited for twenty minutes to come until she heard her ringtone playing again.
She answered JL’s call, “I am in front of the door already” he simply said and ended up the call without letting Naomi talk. She took a glance at the mirror and fixed her hair lightly. She confidently opened the door with her sight focusing on his cold eyes looking at her. “Let’s go” he blandly said and walked to the elevator door. She went inside the elevator and waited for him. He pulled out something from his pocket and leaned closer to her.
He placed the ear loops behind her ears. “You should have brought face masks with you. People might see you or you might catch a virus somewhere outside” he said but not toned in a caring manner. She got the feels in her spine when her heart started beating fast. It has been a long time since she experienced love under JL’s care.
He opened the car’s door for her to get in. God knows how much she missed riding in a car drove by JL. Her excitement is incomparable; it has been a while since she started carrying the child and escaped every dilemma that will prevent the child from going outside in this world. Her hand tightly held the appointment papers; she is hoping that after they see the baby’s gender, JL will be more convinced that he owns the child she is carrying.
She was instructed to lay flat in a bed. JL is just standing beside Naomi while his eyes are focused on the sonogram. The transducer is now placed with the ultrasound gel; the cold liquid touched Naomi’s baby bump and it went from each part of her skin. “I want the results confidential, Doc. I want it to be known by the three of us only” JL requested. “Got that, Doc JL” the OB replied. After thorough observation, the OB shook its head.
“This one is a special case, Doc JL” the OB said. “What do you mean a special case?” JL asked as he is confused. “May I know first how are you related to Miss Naomi Nievez?” the OB asked back. JL looked at Naomi whose eyes are also looking at him. JL answered, “She is my cousin’s friend. I just offered a hand to help her get the appointment”. The OB nodded and now answered JL’s first question.
He pointed his finger on the sonogram. “The two dots moving here are heartbeats. Which means, Miss Nievez is carrying a pair of twins” the OB said with a smile. JL got shock inside but he kept on showing it in his face. He looked down to see Naomi shedding tears of joy. “That’s why it looked way bigger than the normal baby bump size” she uttered.
“As for the babies’ gender, we have a boy who is much bigger…” the OB explained. JL wowed inside; even though he is still hesitant to accept Naomi’s speculation of him being the father, it joyed him knowing that there is a baby boy in Naomi’s womb. The OB continued, “On the other side, we have a girl who is smaller in size but it looks healthy”. Naomi wanted to have a daughter and JL wanted to have a son. It is match made in heaven knowing that they will have both.
Naomi is in euphoria; she commends herself for escaping the things she planned with Luke. While seeing the two babies moving inside her womb, she felt like she did the most precious thing of keeping them with her. JL can feel his heartbeat rising in frequency; it is unusual for him to feel it while staring at the two kids growing inside Naomi’s womb.
He is now starting to doubt about his stance. But the doubt is still there and he can’t prove it at this rate. He made Naomi ride his car to take her back to Lorenzia’s condo unit. Before driving he uttered, “Let’s wait for three more weeks. After that, we will do the paternity DNA testing. Make sure not to expose yourself in the public not until that time comes”. What he said made him feel a deep compression in his chest as if his heart can’t contain the excitement.
“I am still hoping that these babies are yours. If not, I will gladly leave and continue my marriage with Luke” she replied. JL’s eyes became pricking cold and it is not fantasizing to greet it with a stare from Naomi. He is furious; he is in denial that he owns the babies yet he is disturbed to think that if it is not his flesh, Naomi will eventually go back to Luke.
He wants to revenge and keeping Naomi under his care is the best way to trigger a man like Luke Fuerte. The revenge is not bloody not like what caused him to plot the backfire. He will revenge in a way that he will make Luke’s heart thorned and broken with unsatisfied love. After all, it is Naomi whom Luke stole from him.
After taking Naomi back home to the condo unit, JL dialed Fonsi’s phone. “Sup, bro?” Fonsi uttered upon picking up JL’s phone. “Have you seen the news? Luke is here and maybe he is searching for Naomi now” JL said. Fonsi’s eyebrows furrowed, “And how does that concern you?” he asked. JL looked away; he forgot he never said anything regarding his plan on hiding Naomi.
“Just talk to Lorenzia about it. I just want you to block Luke in everything connected with Naomi” he replied and immediately dropped the call. Fonsi read the news article and talked to Lorenzia. He scoffed while playing a bullet keychain in his hand, “You are so dead, Luke Fuerte. You left so many traces of enemies in this country” he whispered.
