Luke turned around and faced him. They both showed a cold glare at each other. Luke slowly took steps to get near him. He sarcastically clapped as he said, “Very well, JL Tiueco. Do you think all these years, you finally took back Naomi from me? I’m afraid you will lose again this time”. JL scoffed while feeling the invisible tension between them. He replied, “I can’t believe stupidity became loyal to you, Luke. Can’t you see? I am revenging on you but you can’t sense it”.
Luke evilly chuckled, “You think I did not know that? I know that you rebelled the moment you took her away from me. What is worse is that you made her pregnant!” he said and started to grip on his collar. “At first, I want to revenge on you both so I treated her coldly the moment I saw her. She begged for me and even if you ask her, I did not force her to run away and rekindle the old flame we once shared. She intentionally ran away from you to return back to me” JL replied and it made Luke pissed.
Naomi talked while still standing in her place. “JL is right. He does not know that I ran away. But he knows the reason why I ran away” she uttered while tears kept running to her cheeks. Luke threw a punch on JL’s face and said, “I’ve been waiting for so long just to get back to you. You really took advantage of my shortcomings to deal with Naomi?”.
JL smirked and slowly shook his head, “You are having a hard time understanding what I did, Luke” he said and immediately pushed him away. Luke quickly got up and gave JL another punch. Naomi felt like she was the one who is receiving the damage and so she spoke up, “Luke, I am at fault here. JL is just doing his responsibility because he impregnated me. We two should talk here. Please do not get him involved”.
Luke chuckled as if he is talking to someone pathetic, “You are telling me to not get him involved? So, you think I can forgive what you two did in the homecoming party? Do you think I am a fool to not sense what you did in that room after getting wasted in the bar?”. Naomi looked away; she is guilty and she can’t contradict what Luke just said.
JL added, “But you still can’t deny the fact that you abused Naomi by your cheating. I heard you also hurt her with your own hands and with your throbbing words. After all those things, do you think she still agrees to marry you?” he asked.
Luke replied, “And you still can’t deny also the fact that you and her had a luscious night without my knowledge”. JL nodded, “I admit we are at fault there. But ask yourself who did it first? It is you, right? Now to revenge back, I took that single night seriously. I intentionally made her pregnant to make your life miserable”.
He walked around and added, “At first, I doubted if I really made her pregnant. Who knows, maybe you are the father, right? But the truth spoke for itself. I am the responsible one here. I guess we can easily cut off you and Naomi’s connection right here. You two are not legally partnered, unlike me whom she accepted. You know, she never ran away in our wedding”.
Luke’s temper got worse. He was about to hurt JL again when JL caught his fist. “You think I want to be punched again?” he asked and forcedly pushed Luke in a wall. He felt the ache in his back together with the hard punch he felt in his cheek that is caused by JL. He locked his palms in his neck as he asked, “Who are your allies?”.
Luke continued gasping for air and he can’t utter a single word. Naomi saw how JL tightened his grip on Luke’s neck. She went near and tried to stop the two. “JL, I know you are not a bad guy. Let’s just settle this by talking” she said calmly while holding JL’s hands. He got soft after hearing Naomi’s words; he got off Luke’s neck and watched him weakly gasping for air.
“I never thought you would be such a foolish guy whose actions are weakened by a girl. Sorry, but I don’t settle things by talking” he said and immediately grabbed Naomi’s wrist to pull her close. The unit’s door opened; Blake, Yilmaz, and Amber entered the scene. Blake and Yilmaz held both of JL’s hands that stopped him from going near Naomi who is now being pressured by Luke.
Amber talked while gripping her hand on Naomi’s chin. “As I have told Luke before, if I can’t have JL, then I will make sure that you can’t have him also!” she said with rage. Luke made her compressed to the wall and started kissing her ear to her nape. “I missed you so much” he whispered but Naomi grimaced upon hearing it.
She kicked his knee but it caused him only a small glimpse of pain. Luke raised his palm and threw a slap on Naomi’s cheek. “Luke! Don’t you ever hurt Naomi again!” JL stopped him with his words. Amber held both of Naomi’s arms to make her immobile. Luke walked near JL and replied, “Who do you think you are? Do you think your words can stop me?”. He went back and gave Naomi another slap in her face.
“Intern Amber Boromeo, I will make sure to destroy your career!” JL said while trying to remove his arms on Yilmaz and Blake’s grips. Amber answered, “Let’s see who the directors will point as the victim here”.
Luke held Naomi’s chin and said his plan, “Babe, it is not too late yet! We can continue our marriage. I am willing to pay large amounts just to erase your issues with JL. I will gladly accept your kids with him and make them the heir of our companies. I will explain to our parents what happened and if you want, we can hide this issue from them!”.
Naomi shoved away his gripped hand, “I know now. I understand; it sounds so dreamy to think that you already know how to accept losses. But the thing is, I can’t afford to be with you again!” she replied. Luke’s eyebrows furrowed, “You can! You can be with me anytime you want” he said while hanging into the little thread of hope left.
Naomi shook her head, “I can’t afford to be beaten, pressured, forced to lie, and most especially… I can’t leave JL for the second time. I do not want those amusing plans you offer; all these years, I forced myself to love you until I finally learned how. But now I realized that my affection for JL never faded” she said honestly.
Luke chuckled, “So, you are saying that I am the second best again? Are you rejecting me after all the things I did just to save you and your family from your bankrupt company? Your family is almost as poor as rats before but I pushed my parents to help you! You know why? Because I never treated you as an acquaintance. I wanted you since before that I can’t even remember”.
Suddenly, the door barged open. Fonsi and Lorenzia stepped inside the condo unit. Luke glanced at Fonsi, “Oh, the traitor is here. Are you here to catchy up?” he crazily asked. Fonsi answered while pulling something in his back; he stepped closer and closer to Luke, “Yeah, we need some catching up to do, but not here”.
Luke chuckled, “You want me to book a nice restaurant? Sure, but I will settle things first. Maybe next year?” he replied. Fonsi laughed along with him until he swiftly grabbed Luke’s hands and lock it with a handcuff. “This is so funny. What I meant was, we will have a lot of catching up to do in the court” Fonsi said while making him drop down. Blake and Yilmaz knew that Fonsi is a chief officer and so they ran quickly to go outside.
To their surprise, police officers are already stationed in every corner of the condominium. JL returned to Naomi who is now shaking in fright. He pushed Amber away and the moment she ran, Lorenzia grabbed her hair to fight. Naomi caressed JL’s cheek that received Luke’s punches earlier. “Are you alright?” she asked. JL slowly nodded and turned around to face Luke.
Luke is still fighting back. He grabbed a fragile glass vase and broke it. He intentionally wounded Fonsi in his abdomen; JL tried to take away the spikey weapon he has but it slashed his arm. Blood flowed from JL’s white sleeves. Amber managed to escape but the police caught her also.
JL can’t move his other arm to fight Luke same as with Fonsi who is almost losing consciousness due to the stab in his abdomen. Lorenzia called for an ambulance to take Fonsi in the hospital. Luke managed to fight even with a handcuff on. He quickly grabbed Naomi when he heard the private plane’s whirring sound from outside.
JL ran to catch them. Luke went outside the condo unit but he was stopped in the condominium’s entrance. Numerous police officers are present and he is already cornered. Naomi can feel her head spinning due to the stress and to the strenuous movement forced by Luke. Her other hand is held by Luke and the other one is clasped with JL’s.
The chief commanded, “We want you Mr. Lukas Fuerte to turn yourself in for us to avoid making other damages”. Luke glanced at Naomi who is now looking pale. She weakly said with a smile, “L-Luke, if you truly l-love me… Please set me free. L-let me be with JL”. The police are now walking near him and he still wants to escape not anymore with Naomi, but he needs to escape to save himself.
He forcibly pushed Naomi away and ran to the condominium’s fire exit. JL’s eyes widened with what Luke did; he dropped down to catch Naomi. Thankfully her head did not bump in the floor. Lorenzia entered the circle while covering her mouth. “N-Naomi… is bleeding, JL you have to do something!” she said in panic.
JL glanced at his palm who is now drenched with Naomi’s blood. The ambulance Lorenzia called was utilized by Naomi since Fonsi managed to stop his own wound’s bleeding. JL rode inside the ambulance with tears flowing. His wound is still open but he refuses for it to be treated. “Just d*mn prioritize my wife first!” he said when the medics are trying to give his slashed skin a first aid.
Naomi’s heartbeat is managed to be stabilized while his is still pounding like crazy. When they reached the hospital, Naomi was automatically sent to the operating room. Her bleeding is severe that it needs proper examination. He stayed outside the operating room with thoughts only focused on her. Lorenzia came with Fonsi who just got treated for his wound.
Lorenzia patted her cousin’s shoulder. “Everything will be alright, JL” she said to comfort him. “JL, let the nurses dress your wound first. You can’t add up to the patients if it gets complicated” Fonsi said while letting the nurses assist JL.
Few minutes passed and the doctor went outside to talk to JL. “Doc JL, I will not beat around the bush now. Miss Naomi Nievez experienced a premature rupture of her amniotic fluid from the sudden accident she had a while ago. We need you to sign the consent of premature birth before her amniotic fluid drains out”.
JL quickly nodded and immediately signed the consent papers. Her case was an emergency delivery. JL changed his clothes to his surgery scrubs and proceeded to the operating room. The surgeon in charged asked him, “Doc JL. You are not here to perform a surgery. What do you need?”. JL replied, “I know. I just want to assure the safety of my wife’s premature delivery”.
Everyone in the operating room got shocked with JL’s sudden revelation. He added, “So please, let me stand beside her during the procedure”. The doctor allowed him to do what he wants. He tightly held Naomi’s hand where their wedding ring is worn. They started the incision in Naomi’s belly and proceeded with her cesarean birth delivery.
