SABRINA’S POV
I was walking towards the office with low energy. Even if I did not want to go here, I have to since there was something I should be done there. As soon as I arrived at my workstation, I started doing the reason why I go here because I do not want to be here for a long time. After some time, I wondered why the whole place became silent out of nowhere, so I looked up. When I met Aiden’s eyes, I immediately regretted looking.
“Miss Cruz, see me in my office,” he stated, then left immediately.
I followed him through my eyes until he entered his office. Then, I hurriedly went to the printer to get what I printed out. Soon after, I went back to my table and signed it. I prepared myself before walking towards his office. I knocked three times before I rotated the doorknob and opened the door. When I entered, I saw Aiden playing with the ballpen he was holding while talking to someone on the phone,
“With all due respect, Sir, don’t you dare frighten me, I get what I want!” he angrily remarked, then harshly ended the call. It seemed like he did not like whatever the person on the other line said to him.
“What do you need, Sir?” I coldly asked after I approached him.
“Sab…” I raised my right hand to make him stop.
“Miss Cruz, Sir,” I politely corrected him, then looked directly into his eyes. It seemed like he was hurt because of the way I talked to him.
“Sab, please hear me out,” he pleaded and was about to stand when I put the paper I was holding in front of his desk.
“Thank you for everything, Sir, but I want to quit this job,” I said. He took my resignation letter and read it.’
“Sab, you don’t have to do this. Let’s talk about this first,” he said and tore my resignation letter into pieces.
“We don’t have something to talk about, Sir. I am resigning effective starting today,” I answered, then turned my back to him.
I was near the door when I felt Aiden’s arm wrapped around my body, “ Y-you can’t do this to me. You can’t just quit. You can’t just leave me like this,” he sounded like a child begging to get what he want.
“Let go of me,” I tried to pull away from his arms.
“I d-don’t want to,” he firmly said but with sobs. I know he was crying because I felt something fell on my blouse.
“Aiden, let go of me,” I calmly but authoritatively told him.
“No, Sab. I will never let you go.” He firmly replied and tightened his grip on me.
“I said let go of me!” I shouted and tried again to pull away from him. It seemed like he was shocked because of my voice, so he momentarily loosened his hold on me. I used that time to immediately pull away from his arms.
I bravely looked at him, “ what is your right to dictate my decision? What is the right of a cheater like you to tell me that I can’t leave you like this?!” I angrily told him, and slightly pushed away from me.
I saw the pain in his eyes because of what I said, but I won’t let it deceive me again, “Sab, I can’t remember anything during that time. I just woke up, saw her with me in bed, and both of us were naked,” he explained.
“Huh!” I could not contain my emotions and faked a laugh at him, “ so what did you expect to happen? You just slept together naked?” I sarcastically shouted at him.
“Sab, whatever happened to me and Tiffany, I assure you that I was drunk. I did not know what I did, but the moment I woke up that day, I started regretting what I did,” he replied and tried to hold my hand.
“I t-thought y-you a-are di-different fr-from m-my fa-father, but you weren’t.” Tears started flowing from my eyes. I did not want him to see me this way, but my tears showed the opposite.
“Sssh, my love, please don’t cry,” he tried to coax me and reached my cheeks, but I avoided it.
“Sab, if it is true that Tiffany’s unborn child is mine, I will take responsibility.” I looked at him with pain in my eyes. He will take responsibility, so how about me?
“I will take responsibility as a father of that child, but I won’t marry Tiffany,” he added.
“Do you really think that is easy to do? How about the child? How would you explain to him why he doesn’t have a mother?” I asked him. I think people would laugh at me if they heard me. Who would have thought that I still care for that child despite the mistake his parents did?
“We will raise him. We will be a whole family, Sab---” Aiden could not finish his words when my hand landed on his cheeks which created a loud sound.
“Do you really heard what you just said?! That child will always remind me of your cheating! Then you are expecting me to raise him with you? To be a whole family? You are really out of your mind!” I angrily told and started punching Aiden. He did not bother to avoid my punches, but I could see how he cried in front of me.
“Sab, please!” I was shocked when he kneel in front of me and held my thighs.
“Aiden, get up. What are you doing?!” I said and tried to pull away from him.
“Sab, I would accept every painful words you will say to me. I would accept all the physical pain you will give me for as long as you want to, but please don’t leave me,” he begged. I looked away because I was scared I might accept him because of his situation right now.
“I don’t know, Aiden. Right now, what I know was you cheated on me. You will be a father, but I am not the one carrying him. I have to breathe. I have to think because I might get crazy because of the love I have for you!” I said. I knew that my words were sharper than the slap and punches he received from me earlier.
“I want space, Aiden. Let’s stop seeing each other for a while. “ I remarked and pushed him with the remaining strength I have, I saw how he landed on the floor when he let go of my thighs.
I used that chance to leave Aiden’s office. I hurriedly went back to my desk to get my stops. When I was leaving, I saw my workmates looking at me with different emotions in their eyes. Maybe because they saw me crying. I really do love Aiden so much, but I don’t know if that love is enough to forget the mistake he did to me.
I was about to call for a jeepney when my phone rang. I took it from my bag and was shocked when I saw Aiden’s mother’s name on the call. I faked a cough before answering the call.
“He-hello, Mo---, Auntie,” I hesitantly answered.
[ Sabrina let’s meet. I will text you the address. ]
“All right,” I politely said. I actually don’t know how I could face Aiden’s family after knowing the truth.
After I said those words, she ended up the call. After a while, I receive the address, so I called for a taxi and asked him to drive me to that address. When I arrived, I immediately entered the restaurant. I saw Aiden’s mother right away, so I approached her.
“Good afternoon, Auntie.” I politely greeted her.
She lowered the cup of tea she was holding before she talked to me, “ please sit down, Sabrina.”
“Thank you,” I politely replied and sat down in front of her. I am sorry that this happened,” she stated and held my hand. I was forced to give her a fake smile because I wanted to refrain from crying in front of her.
“I also heard that Tiffany is still in the hospital because she bleed out when the three of you had a confrontation with each other.” She added.
“Please tell me what you really want from me,” I straightforwardly asked her. I don’t know but I felt something strange because of this meeting.
“I want you to leave Aiden and Tiffany alone,” she replied, so I looked at her with disbelief in my eyes.
“W-what?” That is the only word that came out of me because I felt like I became deaf and my world stop revolving because of what she said. Am I wrong to think that we are okay with each other? How could she tell it to me that way? I thought she will be the one I can lean on in a situation like this.
“Please end your relationship with Aiden, Sab.”
