CHAPTER 21: VISITOR

SABRINA'S POV
“Good afternoon…”
My eyebrows automatically stuck together upon realizing who entered my office. I gazed at Sheryl because of shocked, but she just shrugged her shoulders. It seemed like she did not have any idea about this unexpected visitor. What the! What is he doing here?!
“What a pleasant surprise.” I acted like I was nicely surprised upon his arrival. I also managed to smile at him to make him feel he was welcome. “What brought you here, Mr. Anderson?” I almost lost my breathing when I mentioned his surname.
“I was in the area so I decided to drop by,” Mr. Anderson said in a cool manner like we are friends or something. Huh! I didn’t know where he got that thick skin to say it. “Am I interrupting something?” he asked.
I looked at my secretary and nodded at her, signaling that she could leave now. She just bowed at me before walking her way out of my office.
“I don’t mean to be rude, Mr. Anderson but I can’t offer you any drink because I am already running late,” I bravely said. “I mean, don’t take it personally but I have an appointment to attend with,” I added so I won’t be sounding bossy.
“It’s okay," Mr. Anderson replied while smiling at me, which made my blood boil. How could he?! “I will not stay here long,” he added.
“So, what are you doing here, Mr. Anderson?” Sheryl interrupted us. Aiden looked at her and raised his eyebrow. Ah, he is now a different person. He became so arrogant and judgemental to people.“I am the COO of the company and her friend,” Sheryl introduced herself. It seemed like she also noticed how Aiden looked at her with an arrogant look.
Aiden’s expression changed after he heard what Sheryl said. “I apologize… I am here because I want to apologize for the behavior of my wife.”
I felt upset upon hearing what he said but I stayed calm so he would not notice. “You don’t have to do that, after all, it is your wife who was at fault,” I replied.
“I know that very well, but you know… my wife is kinda stubborn at all times,” Aiden admitted.
“Yeah, I heard a lot of rumors about her being spoiled. I am not judgemental so I gave her the benefit of the doubt but it seems like rumors are true” I courageously said. I hope that the truth will hit him hard. “Well, I hope that you will take a good eye on your wife because she currently sharing fake news about me. I am a businesswoman, Mr. Anderson, and I don’t tolerate libeling and slandering,” I seriously uttered. I noticed how his lips lifted upon hearing what I said. Is he mocking me?
“I did also give you the benefit of the doubt even if you acted grumpy at me during the business ball,” Aiden replied, which raised my eyebrow. “But it turns out that you are really a business-minded person,” he amusingly added.
“I was trained that way, Mr. Anderson. And, for a CEO like you who wants to get everything by all means, you have the nerve to lecture me about that,” I sarcastically remarked. I felt Sheryl hold my arm. “Anyway, it is so thoughtful that you dropped by but you may leave now since I have to prepare to meet someone,” I gently said and turned my back to him. I felt like I was so close to erupting so I might say something that I should not. After all, I still need him for my plans. He will be the key to their fall.
“Is it so unprofessional to turn your back on someone talking to you?” I heard him comment which made me even more upset. I could not help but clenched my fist in anger. Where is he really getting that thick face to talk to me like that?! He is indeed at a different level now. He is not the same man I knew and once loved.
“Is it also unprofessional to drop by without prior notice?”
I could not help but look in the direction where the voice came from. And, yeah, I was shocked seeing Clinton Cuevas at the door.
“What are you doing here?” Aiden unwelcomely greeted. Sheryl and I looked at each other because of the change in Aiden’s expression.
“That was a harsh greeting, cousin-in-law,” Clinton said, grinning at Aiden like he was teasing him. What is going on between the two of them?
Aiden scoffed and said, “You really had the nerve to call me that. What unpleasant air brought you here?” he asked.
“That was my question for you actually,” Clinton said, still grinning.
Okay, I admit that I like his attitude towards Aiden. After all, Aiden deserved it. I felt like they had electricity in their eyes, ready to strike each other, so I looked again at Sheryl. Well, whatever misunderstanding they have, I can use it to destroy their family’s lives, but for now, I don’t want my office to be their boxing stage.
I slightly coughed to get their attention, “If there is a problem between you two, settle it outside. Do not do it here in my office. It brings bad luck to my business,” I said. “Mr. Anderson, again, nice meeting you but please leave,” I firmly told him and looked him in the eyes with a cold stare.
“You heard her loud and clear, you may leave already,” Clinton mockingly repeated what I said.
Aiden clenched his fist in anger. “We are not yet done,” Aiden angrily said to Clinton while pointing his finger at Clinton. Then, he looked at me, so I raised my eyebrow. “I’ll see you around, Ms. Wilson.” He lastly remarked before going to the door and leaving us all.
I felt like a torn was remove from my chest when I saw Aiden left. It has been a while since I kept on hiding how my knees were shaking because of him. I did not know why I was reacting this way when I saw Aiden earlier.
“Ahm…”
I was brought back to reality when I heard Sheryl’s voice. I looked at her, but she was looking at Clinton.
“Maybe I leave you guys alone,” Sheryl suggested then looked at me. I looked at her, threatening her through my eyes but she did not even bother to notice what I meant.
“It’s okay. Ms. Wilson might have something to do still. I can wait for her outside.” Clinton responded, which made us look at him.
“No, no, no…” Sheryl disagreed. “A VIP like you should not wait outside,” she added.
Clinton chuckled because of what Sheryl said. “Well, I am strongly opposed to using my status to get favors from others, so I’ll wait outside in the lounge area,” he remarked.
Clinton did not wait for Sheryl’s response because he already voluntarily walked on the door and exited my office. After Clinton left, I took the opportunity to sit on my swivel chair. I leaned back and closed my eyes and then I gently massaged my temple which somehow hurt because of the unexpected guests I had.
“What?” I asked Sheryl because I felt how she stared at me even if my eyes were closed. Maybe, that is somehow the benefit of knowing each other for so long.
“Are you not getting up already? Clinton is waiting for you,” Sheryl reprimanded me, which made me open my eyes.
I looked at my wristwatch before answering her, “It is his fault that she arrived earlier than the agreed time. So, let him wait for me,” I seriously replied before looking at my laptop. I was planning to continue where I left off because of the sudden arrival of Aiden and Clinton.
“Come on, Sab…”
“Sheryl!” I exclaimed in frustration when she turned off my laptop. I did not even remember if I clicked the save button earlier for the files I was working on. I stared angrily at Sheryl but she looked at me like nothing happened. Ghad! She should be grateful that we were friends after all.
“Sab, if you start working again, I am 100% sure that you will not bother to check the time, and Clinton will have to wait for you almost forever,” Sheryl lectured me while her hand was on her waist.
“And think of it this way, if your date will end earlier….” I glared at her because of what she said so she made a peace sign post. “I mean if you finish your errand with Clinton earlier, you can go home and be with Hope earlier. Then, you will have a longer time to bond with her,” she added, spitting facts.
I could not help but sigh because of what she said. I mean, I could not deny that she had a point there. “Fine! But if the file I was working on earlier was not saved, you should start looking for a new friend,” I threatened her, but she just laughed it off.
“Okay, boss. Don’t worry because your files are auto-saved, so it will not go to waste,” Sheryl explained and smiled at me like she won. Then, she went closer to me and pulled me out of my swivel chair. “Stop worrying already. Just start preparing for your errand with Clinton. As for me, I will take care of him first in a professional manner.”
After Sheryl said those words, she pushed me into the restroom, so I did not have any choice but to do what she said. Haist! If Sheryl is not my friend, I might already choke her to death.
***
“You look wonderful…”
“Thanks…” I simply replied to Clinton after hearing his compliment. Sheryl secretly nudged me using her elbow.
“Ahm, shall we?”
