The storm is bad but I still managed to reach the office. Luckily, our building is located in an area where it’s safe from floods. For the first time in my life, I’m thankful that Alex is not here yet. He texted me that he’ll be writing in my office but also said that I’m not allowed to read the contents of his major Article. He said that I’m here to answer his questions about writing an article this big. Perry is busy working on his output about the Article. Boss approved that Alex and Perry works together for this, as it might be the right opportunity for Alex to improve. Jax said that Mr. Bartley’s texting him again asking questions about the investigation. He said that it hurts him that all he can say is that they are trying their best but there are no progress with the investigation. “Hey, where are you?” My head is tilted while phone is between my head and shoulder. I’m rushing an Article that is due in an hour. “I’m home now. The after party was fun but tiring.” She sounded exhausted. She went in a musical event exclusive for Celebrities only. “You must get some rest, are we still good for later?” “Of course. I’m excited to see you and have our time together. But now, I need my sleep so you work hard there, okay? See you tonight! Bye.” Then she hangs up. My mind is occupied by the sound of the wind and rain tapping my window, plus I’m busy composing words to complete my article. Alex got here wet. So I went down to get snacks and hot coffee for him. I also went to ask Perry for extra clothes, he always bring a pair. When I get back to the office, the sight of Alex standing very still over the mat made me giggle. I felt bad when I realized that he’s cold so I turned the AC down. “Go change, Alex. Don’t want to hear you sniffing later.” I gave him the clothes then told him to rush or else he’ll drink the coffee cold. Poor Alex. I pulled my drawer to see if the ‘things’ are still inside. It’s still there, hiding behind unnecessary papers. “You good now?” I asked. “Yes. It’s cold, and you still have your AC on.” I don’t know but I love it when it’s cold. Summer in my country is torture because when it’s hot, it is really hot. “Are you ready to start?” I just finished the Article that I’m writing but I still have 2 more to write. I like to be busy while Alex is writing the Article so I won’t be curious about what’s being written. “I’m actually excited to finish this. Your office motivates me.” He starts to write. “I actually wrote the whole Article when I got home yesterday because the Information was fresh, but I think I wrote it out of excitement. Not that I’m excited to bring your uh—“ “Alex.” I cut him off. “This is not about me, okay? I don’t really mind.” Oh, I do mind. I’m watching the process on how they’re going take down someone real close to me. “This is about you so just enjoy writing it, okay? It’s not everyday that someone gets to write issues like this.” I comforted him, he nods. Then he proceeded to type again. “You can do this, you’re good at your job.” Too bad that I can’t go to the rooftop right now because of the Storm. I want to see how’s the city and I also want to see the Village where I’m going to live after I resolve every unfortunate thing that is going on in my life. Instead, I went to the bridge to the new building. The view is nothing compared to when you are observing from the rooftop but it is enough for me to observe the village. It looks so organized, almost like a ruler was used to make the roads as the alignment of the houses appears to be perfect. No one still knows about my new house and the half a million dollar check my mom gave me. There is a right time for someone to know that. When? I don’t know. For the first time since I found out about Denise’s secret about Ocean’s death, I’m excited to see her. Things are getting complicated and there are a lot of things between us that is about to go down. After half an hour, I went back to check on Alex. “Done?” I ask him. “Yep.” He claps. “Finally, this actually looks more professional. Thank you for guiding me, my writing angel.” I gave him a smile. “That’s good. Do you want me to check it?” He lift his laptop away from me. “Nu-uh.” He’s swaying his pointing along with his head. “Go home, Jess. I’m okay here. Be with her.” I actually forgot that I told him earlier about Denise. I give him a smack kiss on his cheeks. “Thank you, Alex. You’re doing really great.” “Oh, please. Don’t need to say that, okay? Feel what you want to feel because that’s okay with me. Now, go home before the rain drops again.” I rushed to get out of the building as if I’m racing the about-to-pour-rain. Luckily, there’s no traffic on my way to my apartment. I still have two hours to prepare our foods and find a good movie to watch with her. We only have until midnight because Jax said that he’s going to sleep here because he doesn’t want me to be alone because of the Storm. While cooking, the electricity went off after a loud crushing sound of thunder. “Are you kidding me?” I’m trying to find a candle and when I finally found one, the smell of my adobo made me realize that Gas does not turn off along with electricity. “Shit.” I scoop a little amount of soup from my Adobo to taste if I over cook it. Everything’s set. I suddenly remember that I have a radio that only needs batteries. Weather man said that the storm will last for two days before leaving the Country. After an hour, Denise arrived. “Gosh, the storm’s very scary.” “Glad that you arrived safe.” I gave her a kiss. “Uh-oh, you got the cute candles.” She’s giggling over the candles that I positioned every where. From where I’m standing, the setting I made looks so romantic. “Come, come.” She said. She took her phone out and asked me to smile. “I will frame this one. We look so good together.” “Give me a copy, yeah?” I offered my hand and pulled her to the kitchen. “Adobo.” Her eyes closes as she appreciate the smell of my kitchen. I tapped the chair. “Sit down. We don’t want to make the Adobo wait.” Before sitting down, she gave me a kiss. It is a long, warm, sweet, and genuine kiss she ever gave me. Why does it feel like a good bye? Does her body knows that she’s about to go down? Or maybe her lips knows that I’m letting her down? “Let’s eat, shall we? I don’t want to disrespect your adobo.” She settled herself on his seat. She’s telling me a lot of stories about the celebrity world. Every secret and the true colors of the Celebrity she first hand experienced. And it reminds me of every time Jax tells me about the Cases he’s handling. “Rob Peñada is really homophobic?” I mean, there are a lot of rumors about him being homophobic but it’s never confirmed. “Uh-huh. I overheard him talking to young actors about it.” She’s told me a lot more stories about Showbiz. This time, my mind is only occupied by her smile. Just like the first time we knew what we felt for each other, we stare at each others eyes with genuine happiness. Maybe, for the last time, we’re normal again.
