Chapter 39: Entry of Evil
“Grand Duchess of Beaufort, Her Highness Wynrose Beaufort, and Her Royal Princess Irish Beaufort have arrived!” The Duchess arrived before the royal family, elegantly draped in a gown of deep green silk. She politely bowed her head and curtsied low. The Royal Princess curtsied gracefully before the throne, a respectful smile on her lips. The Emperor, His Majesty the King, Marcus smiles, "Dear Irish, welcome. We are so pleased to see you once again." While Her Majesty the Queen, Empress Rose's eyes twinkle. "It is an honor to meet you again, my dear. We have been told so many wonderful things about you.” Irish's face glows with pride, and curtsies once more. "Thank you, Your Highnesses. I am honored to be here and do not take my presence here for granted." The King and Queen shared a knowing glance, pleased to see that the young Princess has inherited the finest qualities that make her family so great. “Well then, I shall dismiss you. Dianne's been waiting for you.” The Royal Princess, Irish curtsied before the King and Queen and smiled, once more, a deep bow of respect. The King and Queen nodded a final goodbye as the Duchess' daughter hastened away. The King and Queen then turned their eyes to the Duchess. Empress Rose gave a sweet smile at their honored guest. “It's my honor to finally meet the well-respected lady of the Dukedom House of Beaufort. And for that, I welcome you.” "Your Majesties, I am so honored to meet you as well." said the Duchess. She stood to her full height and smiled warmly as she extended her arms in a welcoming gesture. The King returned her bow with a gracious nod of his head. The Queen smiled at her welcoming presence. "Welcome to our home," said the King. "We look forward to learning about your reign in our kingdom." The Duchess inclined her head once again, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "I am humbled by your gracious hospitality. I am eager to work alongside each of you to ensure a prosperous future for our kingdom." The royal family smiled, clearly delighted by the duchess's enthusiasm. "We feel the same," said the Queen, her voice full of warmth and kindness. "Let us discuss the plans for our kingdom over dinner this evening." The Duchess smiled her agreement, and the royal family continued on their way. As they left, the Duchess followed with a dark grin on her face. ---- Nanny Miranda notified the Imperial Princess, Dianne that the Royal Princess Beaufort had already arrived at the throne room. She also suggested that the Princess should wait in the garden instead. Embarrassed, Dianne couldn't help but nod her head in response. The princess was sitting in the garden admiring its beauty when she suddenly saw the Duke's daughter walking towards her, this time Irish had a maid trailing behind her. Dianne couldn't help but smile at the sight of her newly found friend. The Duke's daughter had a bright smile on her face as she walked towards the princess. The princess returned the smile and the two embraced in a warm hug. When... Dianne felt a sudden chill run down her spine and immediately released her hold. Princess felt a sense of something... something dangerous as she looked into the Duke's daughter's eyes. It was as if the child's eyes wanted to swallow her whole. Irish looked up at her with confusion written all over her face. "What is it?" she asked. The Imperial Princess, Dianne swallowed, her throat suddenly dry, and took a step back, moving away from the child and towards the entrance of the garden. Dianne briefly looked at the royal knights and her maids. She wanted to warn them about her superstition. But who would believe a child like herself? At this moment, all she could do is to play safe and observe a little bit more. Dianne put on a serene face as she graced the Duke's daughter with a forced yet perfected smile. She could feel the air around them shift, as their brief moment of silence dragged on. “Lady Irish! Come! I want to show you something! The child's complexion lightened, and Irish immediately walked towards the Imperial Princess. With the Royal knights, maids, and her Nanny trailing behind her, the Princess leads Irish into the castle, a grand sight indeed. Intricate stonework, beautiful decorations, and the smell of fresh flowers filled the air. The Duke's daughter was in awe. She motioned for her friend to follow her down the corridor until they approached an intricately carved door, bedecked with a gilded knob. Surprised, the friend asked "Yo-Your Highness! A-am I allowed to---?" With a confused face, Dianne looked over her shoulder to her Nanny Miranda. The nanny was smiling down at her. Then, she returns her gaze to the Royal Princess, Irish. “Why yes? What else would be the reason for me to guide you start to my bed chamber?” she jested. Actually, there's another reason. Dianne wanted to examine something. She's hoping that whatever's inside of her head is pure false. SHE WISHED. “Well? Shall we?” asked Dianne. ---- “It's been a while since I've enjoyed having tea with someone aside from His Majesty, my husband.” “I too, am enjoying your company Your Majesty, the Queen.” The sun was shining brightly on the Queen and Duchess as they enjoyed their tea in the garden of the castle. The garden of the main castle was a sight to behold. Emperor Marcus had to excuse himself because of work matters. The vibrant colors of the flowers and lush green grass gave the garden a soothing and peaceful atmosphere. A fountain with intricately carved figures adorned the center of the garden, while a grand statue of an angel with outstretched wings stood proudly to its left. The ladies were seated across each other in front of a round marble table, a golden tea set, and two delicate porcelain cups. As they conversed, they were served an array of sandwiches, cakes, and other delicacies. “Are the pasties into your liking, Duchess Wynrose?” “Yes, my Queen.” The Queen was surrounded by her courtiers, who always did their best to please her. The Duchess was full of compliments for the Queen on her graciousness and poise. They laughed and shared stories while they ate. “I must thank you, my dear Duchess, for being so kind and considerate despite the late invitation I've sent. Your pleasant demeanor has brought joy to all those around. Your kindness is deeply appreciated.” “You flatter me, Your Majesty.” Duchess Wynrose said. The Queen quickly shooked her head. “No, not at all. It is true. Your thoughtful nature has clearly won the hearts of all those gathered here. I am especially pleased. It's nice seeing my daughter have a friend aside from her brother and...cat.” Duchess Wynrose grinned to herself, her eyes twinkling dangerously. She was secretly delighted that her subject---husband's daughter, a useless and fragile girl, was able to connect so effortlessly with her main agenda, the Fallen Goddess Aure or what the mortals call Dianne. The Duchess quickly hid her grin and smiled at the naive Queen, “Yes, my Queen. I'm so glad that my daughter has become such a fast friend of the Princess.” The Queen smiled sweetly and nodded. “Yes, it does make me quite happy to see them together.
