Mira's POV
" Ok cool. I get it that these three are ... gifted aliens... but me? What about me? I don't have anything special about me. "
Uncle Kilian, as he claimed to be, burst out into a hilarious laughter.
" Nothing special about you my girl? You have no idea who you are... Ok, let me give you a quick demo.. who is your closest one amongst these three? "
I am sure the College Entrance exams had easier questions than this. What was my answer supposed to be?
" Never mind, anyone will do... "
He tossed Kian and Xen on either wall with what seemed like a rope made of light that automatically tied them up. He pinned the Watcher guy on the floor with something similar and flung me far away from them and hung me upside down .
" Try to stop me if you can Mira... " He turned towards Braze, who was all alone, crouched on the ground.
" No hard feelings boy but this has to be done, " I don't know what I was expecting but I wasn't prepared at all for what actually happened.
Kilian, my uncle, did some wolverine sh*t.
Metals came out from between his knuckles and he punched Braze in the face.
I think I saw a tooth flying off along with raw blood.
" Stop... you are hurting him... " I yelled, trying to kick my feet and throw my arms.
" Make me dear niece... " he had no face. There was no way to see him smile but I was certain that he was definitely doing that.
Braze balanced his fall and turned back towards him on all fours. The next moment there was a fox snapping back at uncle.
" I thought he was a wolf... " I heard Kian looked at him as astonished as I was.
" He is not restricted to it... I have seen him wagging his tail like a dog... " Both burst out laughing.
Those boys. They were gossiping and giggling as if they were at a party.
But I had no clue Xen and Braze were so close. They seemed like they were at loggerhead but no, they were secret lovers I guess, sharing each other's secret in the disguise of a fight. Who were they trying to fool? Me?
I was staring hard at those two but my concentration was broken as my ears picked Braze's painful yelp.
" Is that all you got boy? Give me more... I ain't quitting before my niece awakens her powers... "
And he got back to work, cracking his shoulder blades.
He flew towards Braze who was still yelping, resting his little fox head on the wall. Uncle Kilian grabbed him by his neck and pulled him up, and hovered till his head hit the top of the ceiling and from there he dropped Braze on the ground.
Braze bounced up and back on the floor again.
" Noooo... please stop.... you will end up killing him.... "
I yelled as I saw the expressions on Xen and Kian's face also changed.
" I don't have a problem with that... I will still have two more to force you to awaken your powers tonight... You might have to work a little extra hard. I admit your mother did you dirty with that spell.... But you don't have an option dear one.... This is how we survive back there.... It's all about survival of the fittest.... Win or you die. "
His voice was grave. I knew he wasn't playing around.
He descended on top of Braze. His knees positioned right over his chest.
" No, Uncle Kilian.... please don't do this.... you will break his rib cage.
I could see Braze slowly shrink and turn back into a human.
I was tearing up. My heart beat was becoming abnormal and we could all hear the thunderstorm.
" Keep it coming.... keep it coming... "
I could hear Uncle Kilian mumble as he grabbed Braze's neck.
I could hear his labored breathing yet I was still hanging upside down.
I watched as Uncle Kilian dug his knees deeper on his chest and then the sound of a bone cracking, made me lose my calm, completely.
" I said STOOOOOOOP IT.......... "
A line of fire swirled around Uncle Kilian before diverting towards a wall and falling on the ground as the floor caught fire.
I could feel the warmth radiating through every vein. It was as if my blood had turned into liquid flame.
The chains that were holding me melted at the spots where they held my limbs.
I fell on the floor with a thud but it didn't hurt a single bit.
I turned and jumped up. I sprang over Uncle Kilian and knocked him off from Braze's chest.
" Are you happy now? "
I asked him as I let him go , falling back as I began to sigh heavily. It was such a cool feeling at the beginning but gradually it was starting to feel as if my organs were burning. Exactly like it happens during a very high fever not to mention the fact that the fire that I had created was spreading all over. The spot where we were sitting was starting to look like islands in a pool of fire. It was taking up all the oxygen in that tiny underground pace, making it difficult to breathe. And yes, I forgot to mention the smoke that was burning all our eyes.
I could hear Xen and Kian coughing aloud but when I turned towards my uncle for help, my hands dropped in shock.
" Uncle Kilian.... your... you are burning...."
His holographic body was slowly evaporating.
" Don't worry. My time is up. But we will meet again. Till then, stay away from the Watchers. Stay away from anybody else who might call you to help. Develop your skills. Train in secret. A great war is coming. You will need them. "
I extended my hands to hold him but with a slight nod of his head he snapped his fingers and the fire around us vanished along with the last remnants of Uncle Kilian.
