It wasn't really about the physical pause but he was totally paused. The question nailing deep in his heart was how will i save her? He was trapped in the traffic and he couldn't do anything about it. "Are you still there Mr Toes?" The lady's voice hit but he didn't respond. "Are you there Mr. Toes?" His mouth was heavy, very heavy like a gym tool. Tears drop from his eyes, is either he does something about it or he watch his wife wave the beautiful world goodbye with his unborn child? "Mr Toe!!" Before he could voice out his answer the phone beeped thrice. "Hello Racheal," he said hurriedly trying to catch up with the call, he brought down the phone with the sharpest speed. On the screen was call ended. He pocketed it and didn't bother to lock his car as he careened through the space, unfazed by the frustration of other road users. Heading to the root directing to the Debest hospital. ***** Debest Hospital***** The gate was locked as usual, and a door with a smaller space was left open for easy access to the hospital. The hospital was silent from the external view but the interior was far more disturbed than even a crying baby in the night. The car horn blared twice, who could that be? A doctor or Mr Toes? If it's a doctor then who will he save and who will he let go? Then what if it's Mr Toes or another patient? Still a question for us to ask ourselves. Before the security could open the door, Mr Toe pushed the smaller door wide and and bashed in. "Where's my wife?" Was the first question that jumped off his shivering mouth, and his heart beat like a musical instrument. His eyes looked around. "Who're you Mr. man?" The security asked. Cause he was confused about him, how would someone with his right reasoning just match in and ask about another person? "My pregnant wife. i want to see my pregnant wife." He cried out loud walking closer to the security man while he walked back from him. A female nurse overhead the noise outside and rushed out to find out what was wrong. "Who're you, young man?" She asked calming him down, he was only interested to know where his wife was. "I'm Toes, can i see my wife now." H wail. "Come with me." He walked him hurriedly into the hospital, he even walked faster than her. It was already late at night. The clock displayed 11:30 p.m., and the calendar showed February 23. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why the doctors weren't responding immediately. The corridor was not busy, people were either sitting on the provided bench or moving from one end of the corridor to the other. As he walked in, he bumped into Rachael. Maybe he didn't recognize her, but she might have seen his picture before his arrival. "Mr. Toes, thanks for your arrival." She smiled cause finally, someone was home for the rescue. "Where's my wife?" He asked looking at the hospital. The hospital looked far too expensive for doctors to be scarce; perhaps the day didn't come into existence to favor them. "I don't need to repeat this again, but we have a problem here." She said looking at Adam. "What's the problem? I can solve it, just show me my wife." He pleaded with her. "You remember I told you your wife is the second pregnant woman admitted here?" she asked, and he beckoned in a hurry. "You can only save one of them," she announced. "You must choose between saving your wife or saving his wife," she said, pointing at Adam, who paced back and forth with his hand on his head, his face contorted with sorrow and pain. He stopped, he never expected such information to come today. He froze. "Mr Toes! Mr Toes!!" Rachael called repeatedly to get him back. "Yes," he responded with shock. "Where's my wife?" He asked. "Room 3A." She answered. "Please help me." His voice displays a thousand grief. "Save my wife." Pure emotion spilled on his face. "She's all i have in this world. He grabbed his leg, please save my wife." He went on his knee, tears dropped from his eyes. It's very rare for a man to cry but if a man cries then he's deeply hurt. He looked at him. They share the same shoe, so he understands him more than we do. " I'm very sorry, Mr, but i can't. My wife is also as important as your wife. If there was another option then i would help you out." He jolted him off and ran to room 3A. He cried bitterly and rolled on the floor, his anguish evident as he lay on the floor clutching the nurse's garment. Despite her efforts to console him, his wounds seemed too deep to mend. A few minutes later, after Mr. Toes had left, the doctor rushed into the hospital. "Where's the pregnant lady?" He pant. "Where's she?" He loud out in pain. "Room 3B," Racheal responded with sorrow watering her face. "Please save my wife, she's all i have." He wept and begged. The doctor runs into room 3B. Adam was moving to and fro in the hospital, his hand hardly corresponded with his brain. The church bell rings. It was exactly midnight. The sound of a newborn baby blares from room 3A. Adam rushed to the entrance of room 3B and waited for the doctor to emerge. The door was open, and he waited patiently for the doctor to appear. Tobecontinue
