Chapter 20 (Back In The Present)

Inside Mr. Toes' mansion, the atmosphere was electric. People moved in every direction, and a medley of music genres kept the energy high and the crowd buzzing. The rhythm resonated with everyone, and they expressed their emotions through dance and movement. This was more than just a birthday celebration; it was a grand event because both Toes and Doris were involved. These two are so popular that they can't be ignored by the general public.
Waiters in black suits moved gracefully around the room, carrying trays filled with an array of drinks. The lighting was expertly controlled, casting shifting colors across the space and transforming the mansion into a stunning, ever-changing scene.
At the entrance, guests presented their invitation cards before gaining access to the grand hall. Each arrival was met with a sense of grandeur and honor, setting the tone for the prestigious event.
In the center of the room stood a magnificent cake adorned with memorable words. It was surrounded by vibrant flowers, creating a colorful and captivating display.
Mr. and Mrs. Toes entered the hall hand in hand, warmly greeting their gathered family and friends. Mr. Toes glanced at his wristwatch and smiled, a sign of his joy and anticipation for the evening ahead.
He stopped one of the waiters with a warm, inviting smile and procured a glass for his wife. Leaning in, he whispered something to the waiter, who quickly departed. Moments later, someone approached him with a microphone in hand.
He took the microphone, the noise from the microphone got people's attention. The loud music got paused to know where the sound stroll in from.
"Hello beautiful people." He screamed.
"Please meet my beautiful wife, Doris," he announced to the crowd, his voice full of pride. The room erupted in cheers and applause as Doris waved gracefully at the enthusiastic audience.
"You over there, check your calendar," he called out, directing his attention to a man absorbed in his phone. His words captured everyone's interest, drawing their gaze toward the young man. Startled by the sudden attention, the young man looked up, realized Mr. Toes was speaking to him, and gulped before smiling sheepishly.
"February 24, Toes." He screamed to the hearing of everybody.
"Thank you, Jerry. Today is my beautiful daughter's birthday, and I'm thrilled to see everyone here," Mr. Toes expressed warmly, releasing Doris's hand and moving gracefully around the room.
"As we all eagerly await the birthday girl's arrival, let's enjoy a bit of music together. Please welcome the angelic voice of Flora!"
The spotlight was position on her.
Far back in the past,
I was one, the only one,
Feeling the best, for I loved to the last.
The rose we knew, made the day we flew.
The sun is shining,
Keep smiling, princess, you own this day.
Happy birthday to you,
To you,
Happy birthday to you,
To you,
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
The crowd was very silent, the break it clapping their hands and blowing whistle to her.
"Thank you Flora."
"Let's introduce the one and only princess, my precious treasure, the rare gem herself—none other than Sherry Toes!" he exclaimed with excitement, as the crowd eagerly anticipated the entrance of the beautiful princess.
The drums were played as she was introduced. The audience was silent waiting for sherry to showup.
After a few minutes of waiting with no sign of her, the audience grew restless and started murmuring. Some began to look bored, wondering if this delay was part of Mr. Toes' idea of light entertainment for the evening.
"Stay calm, everyone. I've just been informed that Sherry is on her way. DJ, keep the audience entertained," Mr. Toes announced reassuringly as he walked over to his wife.
"Where's your daughter?" He whispered even with the loud music in the background.
"I don't know but i left her in her room." Doris look confused as Toes did.
"Check on her, I'll keep the audience engaged," Mr. Toes instructed, then walked into the crowd. He greeted many people, making them feel at ease and ensuring they remained engaged in the entertainment.
The crowd stopped dancing abruptly. About 80% of the audience turned their attention in the same direction, prompting the DJ to fade out the music. All lights were pointed in that direction.
Sherry moved slowly, each step deliberate and measured, almost as if she were in a slow-motion dance with a snail. Her eyes were shadowed, and the makeup on her face had cracked, giving her a haunting appearance.
Her birthday gown was exquisitely designed, a stunning white dress adorned with red dots and her name elegantly written across it: "Sherry the Queen."
The audience was taken aback to see her holding a rope in her left hand and a kitchen knife in her right hand.
She mumbled words which no ear could captured even with the heavy silent around them.
As she walked, people were creating way for her. Why won't they create way for her, nobody want to die.
She look so dangerous to be closer to.
