CHAPTER 14
AMELIA POV
After I finished showering, I walked out of the bathroom to see Miguel and Cami in my room. I felt a little embarrassed when I saw they were ready for the party while I had just finished bathing.
"Come on, hurry! We're running late. You're taking so long," Miguel moaned, sounding annoyed as he casually ate an apple, the crunching noise emphasizing his impatience.
"Let's go, we've been waiting forever," he urged, clearly annoyed as he checked his watch, the ticking seconds adding to the tension in the room. "There are still many things to do."
I laughed nervously, feeling guilty for making them wait. "Sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to take so long," I said, quickly going over to the vanity where Cami was ready to do my makeup.
As I walked to the mirror, I saw Emily there, with a playful smile. "Hey, how'd two you get in here?" I joked, pretending to be annoyed.
"It's your favorite sister!" Emily exclaimed with over-the-top excitement, her eyes sparkling mischievously as if she held the biggest secret. She was dramatic, always adding flair to even the simplest moments.
"I wouldn't be surprised anymore," I replied with a playful eye roll, taking a seat in front of the mirror where Cami was waiting. She was a talented makeup artist, and I trusted her expertise to make me look my best for the evening.
I couldn't help but tease her about the father of her child. "Any clues on who's the dad?" I joked, finding it amusing how the mystery of her pregnancy lingered.
With a playful look in her eyes, Emily casually shrugged, her relaxed attitude adding to her mysteriousness. "Who knows, sis? We'll find out soon enough," she said with a mischievous smile, her words unclear and teasing.
She had a knack for living life to the fullest, and sometimes I wondered if she even knew who the father of her child was. Until now, the mystery remained unsolved, and to be honest, I wasn't sure if she even wanted to know. She was quite promiscuous.
Luckily, the room quieted down as Cami started doing her thing, her hands moving carefully. I shut my eyes, feeling myself unwind and release the earlier chaos.
After Cami finished with my makeup, Miguel stepped up, holding a gorgeous red dress with a bold side slit. As he showed it to me proudly, I raised an eyebrow, feeling unsure.
"Are you sure about this outfit?" I asked cautiously, my voice showing my uncertainty as I looked over the clothes. "It feels a bit... bold, doesn't it?" I said, eyeing the revealing slit that made me uneasy.
Miguel smirked knowingly, his eyes twinkling with mischief as he held the dress before me. "Oh, darling," he began with a playful drawl, "trust me when I say, you'll be the talk of the evening in this dress." His tone was confident, exuding an air of certainty that left no room for doubt." This dress suits you perfectly. It's time to show off your inner goddess and dazzle everyone with your undeniable presence."
"We want Alexander to remember what he's been missing," Miguel insisted, his voice filled with resolve. "He left you to handle everything for this wedding, hardly helping at all. It's time to remind him of what he's been neglecting."
I frowned at his words, unsure of why he was so upset with Alexander.Cami joined in, her tone showing a touch of worry as she echoed Miguel's thoughts. "Yeah, honey," she added, looking at me with sincere concern. "If he's ignoring you now, who knows what'll happen when you're married?"
"It's a valid point," she continued, her tone gentle yet firm. "A marriage should be built on mutual respect and support. If he's already failing to provide that now, what assurances do you have that things will improve once you're bound together in matrimony?"
I felt a lump in my throat, her words sinking heavily in my stomach. Their words weighed heavily on the atmosphere, diminishing the excitement that had filled the room before. Emily, always positive, quickly changed the conversation, her words filled with hope and excitement about what was to come.
"Just imagine, Amelia's kid will be so pretty," she said excitedly, her hand moving to her belly instinctively.
Miguel and Cami nodded, their talk turning to the unborn child. But I couldn't let go of their earlier words, their worries echoing my own fears.
Miguel sighed, leaning against the wall. "Yeah, good looks, but what if they inherit bad traits? You know, like being indecisive or always arrogant."
Miguel sighed heavily, his face showing he was deep in thought as he leaned against the wall, looking casual. "Sure, good looks are nice," he started, sounding a bit doubtful, "but what if they also get some not-so-great traits? Like being unsure or a bad attitude."
"It's a fair point," Cami admitted, a smirk tugging at her lips. "After all, looks come and go, but unique character stick around," she said with a wink, trying to lighten the mood during the serious talk.
Miguel and Emily laughed, and I rolled my eyes playfully. "Hey, what's with the serious talk? We're talking about a baby who isn't even here yet. What I'm asking is why this dress ended up with me," I said, a bit annoyed, as I turned away to change.
With a sigh, I turned from their playful talk, set on changing into the dress to end the chaos. But as I wore the gown and saw myself in the mirror, it felt daring, but I looked beautiful and attractive. I don't usually wear this type of outfit, worrying it might not fit, but now that I see it, it seems just right.
"Oh, it fits you so well! You look gorgeous; you're the star tonight," Miguel complimented me, his eyes shining with admiration as he looked at me.
Cami nodded in agreement, her expression one of genuine awe. "In fairness, you really look beautiful," she added, her voice filled with sincerity.
Even Emily, ever the wild card, couldn't help but chime in with her own brand of enthusiasm. "Fabulous, Amelia," she declared, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
I couldn't help but blush at their enthusiastic compliments, feeling a warm glow inside. "Really?" I asked, showing a bit of doubt in my voice.
Their reply was instant and firm, spoken together as if practiced. "It looks great on you," they said together, matching my smile.
As we descended downstairs to join the celebration, I couldn't help but feel excitement bubbling inside me. With Miguel, Cami, and Emily beside me, I knew that whatever happened that night, I was in good company. Stepping into the lively party below, I felt excited to see what the night had in store.Download Novelah App
