CHAPTER 62: SEARCH AND RESCUE

The MARVELOUS team started asking people about the prophecy. There were a few people who heard about it but did not think it was true; there are some who haven’t heard about it; but most of the people from Bakir to Catalunan knew about the prophecy, and they all pointed to one person whom the people suggested they should be looking for: Nana Apong.
They met in the outskirts of Arreis Erdam.
“Agent Eagle sent some coordinates. Let’s head to this place. Maybe we could ask this Nana Apong about the prophecy.” Anthony stated.
As they were heading to the jet, another coordinates was sent.
“Wait. There’s another coordinates. And it’s directly on the opposite side of the original coordinates.” Nash announced.
“Wait. Eagle is online. Let’s wait a little bit more.” Benedict said.
“Now he sent two more coordinates. What’s wrong with him?” Vera asked.
“It’s the Eagle Eye Coordinates also known as EEC. Do not focus on the previous coordinates.” Simon said.
“Woah! Now I get it!” Pierre said and pulled out the hologram map. He plotted the coordinates given by Eagle and the EEC pointed to the Farmland Village in Catalunan.
“That’s where we are heading.” Anthony said and they all loaded the jet.
*****
Jean and Matikas were walking silently towards the farm. Matikas was about to show her where he had found her.
“So… I hope you don’t mind me asking this.” Matikas finally said.
                “Ask away.” Jean smiled.
“You said you were kidnapped but I found you wearing a lab gown. Why were you kidnapped?” he asked.
“It’s a long story but to cut the long story short, this is why.” She said and she conjured a small lightning on her dancing fingers.
                Matikas stopped and was dumbfounded.
“M-my Apong was right all along? Y-You are the Saint?!?” He exclaimed.
“Shh. Don’t shout. But I don’t know if that prophecy is true.” She answered.
“I don’t believe it, too, but seeing you in the flesh with that kind of power? I think I might start to believe.”
“You don’t believe that there are people who has powers?”
“Oh I know it’s possible but I believe in the Gods, especially Celi.” He said and stopped. “This is where I found you. I thought you were dead but when I confirmed you were still breathing, I carried you home.”
She closed her eyes and felt the area. She really did faint on this spot and Matikas found her early in the morning. She opened her eyes.
“Who is Celi?” she asked when she looked at Matikas.
“She is the goddess of nature.”
“You mean Aticel is known now as Celi?” she asked.
Matikas looked at her full of awe.
“Oh, it wasn’t me who asked that. It was Amora.”
“Now who is Amora?” he was puzzled.
“The saint you were referring to.”
                “I don’t follow---“
Jean held Matikas’ hand and Amora showed herself.
‘You’ve seen me now, child. Let them know that the Saint is now the Phoenix Enchantress.’ Amora said to Matikas.
Jean let go of Matikas’ hand and he catch his breath.
“What just happened? Who was that?” he asked.
“It was Amora. I can’t show her to Apong.”
                Matikas nodded.
                “I understand.”
They heard something went past above them going towards the house.
“What was that?” Matikas asked, trying to look for the thing.
“I don’t know but let’s head back.” Jean said, hopeful that the sound she heard was the jet.
*****
The team landed on an unfenced lawn and in the middle of it is a wooden bungalow house. As they were getting out of the jet, an old lady emerged from the house.
“Are you here to ask about the prophecy?” the old lady asked.
                They were all surprised.
“Oh dear. Nothing to be surprised about. There were people who came here asking for the same thing. It’s no surprise you are here for the same reason.” The old lady answered the question plastered in their faces.
“Are you Nana Apong?” Anthony asked as he approached the lady. The others followed.
“Yes dear, that is me.” She answered.
“Thank goodness, we’re on the right place. But we’re not only here to ask about the prophecy. We’re also here to ask if you have seen my daughter. This is a picture of her.” Anthony showed a picture of Jean.
“You mean that young lady?” the old lady said and pointed at the driveway.
They all looked around to see Jean with a man. As soon as she saw them, she ran towards them and Vera, Nash, and Pierre did the same.
“Guys!” she cried as soon as she was able to reach their embrace.
“Jean, we found you!” Pierre said and hugged her tight. He then let go of her to give chance to Nash and Vera.
“Oh dear, how are you? You look pale and thinner than usual. What have they done to you?” Vera said while crying.
“The first full meal I had in week is from this place. I missed your cooking.” She told her and hugged Vera tightly.
“Are you hurt? Did they torture you? Those fucking morons!” Nash said angrily as she checked her. She hugged her.
“You know I have healing abilities, Nash. But yes, they did torture me. And I loathed them even more.” She said.
“Mister, are you aware that your daughter was the prophesied Saint?” The old lady said to Anthony as they were watching the four reuniting.
All of them turned their attention to the old lady.
“What do you mean, ma’am?” Benedict asked.
“She is the saint, grandma. I saw it with my own two eyes.” The young man said as he approached them. “By the way, I am Matikas, gentlemen. I saw her unconscious on my fields when I was about to check my farm.” He introduced himself.
The team shook his hand as a sign of gratitude.
“Thank you for taking care of her. We have been looking for her for a week now.” Anthony said.
“I found her 2 days ago, sir. She was wearing a hospital gown. I thought she was dead and they dumped her on the fields. It’s not uncommon here, those kind of incidents. Dropping dead bodies from Ordinarius Infirmary when the families couldn’t afford to pay, so I had to check if she was breathing and thankfully, she did.”
They were shocked by the news but they didn’t show it. So Ambassador Augustus of Ordinarius was really a corrupt man.
“Thank you for giving that information as well. We will look into that as soon as we head back to Statson.” Aiden said.
The four went to the group as soon as they were done checking on Jean. The three filled her in that Anthony introduced her as his daughter so as soon as they reached them, Jean hugged Anthony.
                “Dad!” she said while crying.
                Anthony hugged her back tightly.
“We’ve been looking for you. Thank goodness you are safe. We’ll get you home now.” Anthony said and wiped Jean’s tears.
“Before we go, can I just say goodbye to Apong and Matikas?” she asked.
                “Sure, kiddo.” He said.
Jean went to where Apong and Matikas were standing. She hugged the old woman.
“Thank you, Apong. May you live until the saint could show you why she was prophesied.” She said and with her healing abilities, she gave her some strength.
“Oh dear. I hope that love and justice always win in your pure heart.” Apong said as she felt all the strength Jean gave her.
                She also hugged Matikas.
“May you continue to believe and live until you have found content and peace in your heart.” She said and Matikas felt a surge of unknown power inside him.
                “What is this?” he asked.
“A gift for my dear friend.” Amora replied.
                “The Phoenix Enchantress…” he whispered.
“Thank you for taking care of me Apong, Matikas. I hope we will see each other again, in a better circumstance.” Jean said.
“We will see you again.” Matikas said and smiled. Jean smiled back.
“Again, with full of gratitude, here is my card. If you need anything, and I mean anything for the betterment of your livelihood, don’t hesitate to contact me.” Anthony said and gave Matikas the card.
“Stanton… You are THE ANTHONY STANTON?!?” Matikas exclaimed and looked at Jean. She nodded.
“Here’s a travel pass to Statson as well. You can visit Jean with your Apong anytime she wants.” Anthony said and looked at Jean. She smiled sincerely at him.
“We’ll head back to Statson now. We’ll be expecting you there.” Anthony said and shook hands with Apong and Matikas. The rest did the same and Jean hugged them before they all went back to the jet.
