Chapter 8 HeartBeat

"Lola, what are you doing here?" Elizabeth asked in surprise.
Lola didn't know what to say to that at first, "I needed ... I needed to get away from all these noise," the lie came to her.
"Noise?" Elizabeth asked, clearly amused, "but you said that you loved parties."
"I'm sorry if you take offense in my words. I clearly needed an escape from all of this," Lola begged.
"Please don't leave now. My brother is coming in and I want you to see him."
Lola stopped Elizabeth before they moved a step further, "your brother, who is this your brother?" She asked.
They stepped into the crowd again and she suddenly shouted out, seeing a familiar face, "Matthew!" Then she turned to Lola, replying, "his name is Matthew, he is coming over here."
Lola's couldn't feel her heart beat, infact her heart was in her mouth. Was this a joke or something? Maybe, it must be another Matthew. She looked up to find a face tied to the name.
"Come on out," Elizabeth pleaded to Lola.
"Please, just give me a minute," Lola said trying to gather the rest of her thoughts.
"Wait, let me get my brother." Elizabeth said, turning around, seeing that other friends had tied down Matthew.
When Elizabeth left, Lola thought of her next line of action. When she stepped out, she went behind the house hoping that she would not find both brother and sister together. How oukd she survive the rest of the night?
The place was filled with some people who were rather making out with their partners. She grabbed a drink from an open joint, sat down on a bench and began to drink to calm down her wrenched nerves.
"Lola!" Elizabeth's voice rang out like a bell.
"Oh my God!" Lola's head jerked up as she also sprang out of her seat. Her heart broke to pieces when she rmsaw the familiar face beside Elizabeth. Elizabeth was grinning from ear to ear, standing between them.
"Hello," he greeted, smiling warmly, his hand circling round Elizabeth's shoulder.
Lola's heart seemed to be shot an arrow as his eyes probed into hers. Fighting desperately for her breath, she faked a smile.
"Matthew, since you are here now. I will like you to meet my friend, Lola," Elizabeth introduced.
You can do this, Lola. Don't fret, he wouldn't give an actual fuck if he could recognize you, Lola tried to tell herself as she smiled up at Matthew's face.
"Lola," her name rolled over his tongue as his eyes searched hers.
"I've heard a lot about you, I'm pleased to meet you," Lola said to Matthew stretching out a hand towards him.
"The pleasure is rather mine," he took her hand, holding it still, entranced by her eyes, maybe.
Lola stared down at their hands after a while. He should be letting her hand go now, but he wasn't letting go.
"You look familiar, Lola. Have we met in the time past?" He asked her.
Elizabeth laughed and elbowed her brother's rib, "no she doesn't, she is my friend. Now, let go of her hand. I know you would be so star struck by her beauty."
"I certainly am," Matthew let go of her hand but his eye glued to Lola's face.
"Elizabeth, now if you would excuse me. I need to get back to the hostel," Lola said to Elizabeth while to Matthew, she said, "It was nice meeting you."
"Lola?" Matthew called as Lola turned to go.
Lola stopped to look back at him.
"Do you have a brother, Lola?" Matthew asked.
"No, she doesn't have a brother," Elizabeth said, confused, answering for her. All Lola wanted to do was to punch her mouth.
"Or a cousin?" Matthew put in.
"I don't know about that," Elizabeth laughed, not enjoying what was taking place anymore.
Matthew moved closer to Lola, taking her hand in his, "I think you remind me of someone, Lola. Her name is Daisy," he spelt out, side grinning, "Daisy Maxwell."
Her heart jumped out of her. He still remembered her exact fake name!
Lola pulled back her hand, suddenly gathering her thoughts. She had forgotten to breathe. "I think you are wrong," she told him, turning to leave again.
Her eyes caught hold of the gate, she must leave this instant, she told herself. The way her heart was hammering against her rib cage was making her dizzy. She must be out of here.
In one stride, Matthew caught hold of her hand and swirled her towards him. She gasped as her body pushed and pressed hard into his body and a shock took hold of her body.
Her eyes came swiftly upon his as his was plain and hard with the hot look of a killer. She tried to calm her furious heart that hammered profusely, her lips parted as her breathing became quite heavy.
His eyes lit up as his strong hands encircled her waist and he stared into her face. Flashes from the scenes at his older sister's birthday party flashed through his mind. A nasty smile crept up his face.
"Won't you greet me way more primly, Daisy Maxwell?" He teased, meeting her eyes.
