Apple's Point of View
"For real, grandma?! You're going to adopt Rena? That was great news" I say once I heard the news from my Aunt Alona. It was my vacant day so I'm going nowhere but here because Alina didn't want me to go and insisted that I should be the one who would do the documentary.
"Yes, but it's still up to Rena if she would say yes because she's already 18" Grandma responded. I was surprised and just by thinking of Rena's attitude, I think it would be hard for her to cooperate.
"I really hope that Rena would cooperate because she's not in good hands with her parents" I said and grandma nodded.
I also need to convince her and give her a good talk so that she would agree and let us help her. It's been days since the last time that I've heard an update about my parents and I'm still worried for them.
"Auntie, isn't there an update about my parents?" I talk to my Aunt who's cooking our breakfast meal. My cousin and my brother have classes today so they were taken care by my Uncle, as usual.
"There's nothing. I'm sorry if you're waiting for an update and still worry for your parents but I'm working on it to give us all some peace of mind" My Aunt explains. That saddened me because I don't know where my parents are at this time.
My phone vibrates, I would say that it was group chat and they are now finding each other but when I open my phone. It was from my mom's so I immediately accepted the call without thinking.
"Mom, how are you? Where are you? Mom, I've missed you. You and dad were very missed by Aunt, Grandma and Paul" I immediately started. I've really miss them and her calling me was very good news.
"You're so loud right now, Apple. Do you know that your parents are still sleeping" It was an unfamiliar voice who I heard instead of mom. I immediately got confused and frightened about my parent's whereabouts.
"Who are you? What kind of a monster are you? Let my parents go!" I shouted that got my Aunt attention.
"Don't you familiarise this voice? I'm Rena's mom, Riza you idiot. And I'm going to tell you our whereabouts if you would tell me your whereabouts" She said. My Aunt gets my phone and was the one who heard everything then she went far away from me.
I quickly ran to my grandma and she was with an old man. I still ran to her and looked at the old man and scanned him from head to toe.
"What brings you here, Apple?" My grandma asks but I'm still not yet done scanning this suspicious old man. He's familiar to me but I wonder where we had met.
"Hi, Apple. I'm very pleased to finally meet you. You look very wonderful and I'm proud to say that you're my granddaughter" He said. Wait, what? He's my grandfather? On which side, my mom or my dad. But that's not the case for now.
"Grandma, my mom calls me but it was Rena's mom. I think my parents were abducted by them" I said. My grandma looks like she's not surprised anymore but she also worries.
"Where's your Aunt Alona?" That was the one thing she asks and I know that I need to tell her the direction.
She went there and I was left with this intriguing stranger who happens to be my grandfather. I wouldn't acknowledge him as my grandfather because my parents has some reason why they didn't let me meet him.
"Wouldn't you be pleased now that you've met your grandfather?" He asks. I let my anger suppressed me.
"I wouldn't be pleased nor acknowledge you as my grandfather. My grandfather died a long time ago for me" I said. He seems shocked that he couldn't utter some words and that's fine with me since I have a lot of problems right now.
I stepped a few steps away from him when he grabbed me and dragged me in place. Of course, I shouted but because it was a deserted resort and we are just the one who occupy this place, I couldn't be heard by someone.
I still hope that there's some staff nearby who's going to help me and free me from this strange old man. That's why I shout and shout. I was crying now because why didn't I even run away with my grandma and let myself be left with this old man.
There's no mom and dad now. My parents were abducted by the people whose family. They were blood related and this old man can be somehow my blood related also. Why are they continuing to do this to us? Do they envy us for having a peaceful family?
He let me go once where he was in his car. He owns a very luxurious car and I don't let my amusement show. I glare at him and I want him to feel my wrath against him.
"I don't know you so let me go! Even if we're blood related, I know that you are a bad person and I don't know why you keep on doing this to us! We don't owe you anything, you owe us the biggest apology!" I shout at the top of my lungs.
"I'm not going to harm you, Apple. I'm going to make you safe because you are the target. Your grandma told me that you are their target and they want you to be killed so that your parents would show some weakness" He explains.
He looks believable but no, I don't trust people right now that easily. They may look so trustworthy but that's what gets me everytime I trust someone.
"How can I believe you more?" I asked him. He drove his car off and let me show something. We stop at the place where Aunt Alona was still talking to the phone alongside my grandma who's listening the whole time.
Then he got his telescope and gave it to me then adjusted in some direction. It was now at the peak of the mountain and I saw someone who's also using some telescope. I got goosebumps from what's happening.
After that he drove us off and went somewhere safe. I couldn't utter the right words that I could ask him. I have a lot on my mind but I was searching for the right word to say to him.
"So we're going to let my Aunt and grandma there without notice? What if they were the target since they couldn't get me?" I started. He deeply sigh and continues driving on somewhere.
"That's why after I get you in the right and safe place, I will get your Aunt and grandma in safe place too" He said.
"Why can't you just arrest that person at the top of the mountain who's watching us from the resort?!" I asked again. Because that could've solved the problem easily because they wouldn't have anything against us anymore.
"No, your parents would be the one in danger if I do that and you think I have fighting skill to combat that man. I'm old enough, Apple and we have a plan so just trust us on this. Your too young to intervene"
I just rolled my eyes at the last statement. I was always young in their eyes, I was never old for them to meddle in this kind of issue. I would always need to wait and wait but up until when? I want to get my peaceful life back.
But in the end, I couldn't do anything but wait until it finished. I was at this café store and the old man asks for me to be in the safe room where I met my cousin and brother sipping their drink.
They don't know what's going on and think this was just some play. I go to them and ask them if they're fine. They nodded at me and gave me my meal since I haven't eaten yet. I smiled at them and started eating.
I now know what my role is. It is to keep them safe and watch out for them since in the three of us, I was the only one who knew very well that were in danger and weren't safe that's why we're hiding from the people who want us to be harmed.
And I'm going to act this role efficiently. I wouldn't let anyone harm my cousin and my brother. And I'm going to be brave because I'm the only person who's adult and old for them. I promised to myself that I wouldn't let anyone get them while we were still in the risk of getting harmed. And that's what I'm going to hold up until the end.
