More Than A Friend

As the days passed, Mallory continued to focus on her aspirations. She remained committed to her online business venture, driven by the desire to rebuild her reputation and secure a stable future for herself and Harriet.
The positive comments on their social media posts are flooding, giving her more motivation to pursue her dreams of being an entrepreneur. She was so excited to share the good news with Harris. After all, it was Harris who worked hard on regaining their dignity and clearing their names.
"Harris," Mallory called excitedly. Harris just got home after a long time in his office.
"Hey! How was your day?" Harris asked, kissing Mallory on the cheek. "You look excited."
"Of course, I've got good news for you." Mallory showed her tablet, viewing the social posts they had.
"I love how Harris fought for his love for Mallory and chose to give his daughter a complete family," one commenter said.
"This love story deserves to be published as a book. I would buy their book in a heartbeat. Very inspiring!" The other commenter said.
"Wow! It would be amazing if this love story would become official," Harris said, grinning like a fool.
Mallory's cheeks blushed but didn't comment on it. Harris understood her silence and was hopeful that he was getting close to winning Malory's heart and would eventually get rid of Dominic in the picture.
In their cozy mansion, Mallory and Harris sat close together, a sense of accomplishment washing over them. Their social media presence had surged, propelled by the heartfelt family photo Harris had posted. It had struck a chord with people worldwide, drawing them closer to the story of a family navigating life's twists and turns.
Mallory's eyes sparkled with a mixture of excitement and determination as she shared her plans with Harris. Her fingers danced across her tablet's screen, showcasing ideas for her upcoming candle online business.
"You see, Harris, the traction we've gained is incredible. I want to leverage our newfound influence to launch my candle business. It's a way for me to stand on my own and support Harriet." Mallory shared her aspirations of being an entrepreneur once more.
Harris nodded, his pride for Mallory evident in his eyes. "That's a fantastic idea, Mally. I'm here to support you every step of the way. Just let me know what you need," he said, staring at Mallory with adoration.
For the past weeks, their social media influence continued to grow. Messages of support and encouragement poured in from all corners of the globe, painting a portrait of unity and positivity. Mallory was elated by the prospect of turning her passion for crafting candles into a thriving online business. It was a dream she'd harbored for years, and now it felt closer to reality than ever before.
Harris, on the other hand, was impressed by Mallory's determination and resilience. He had always known she was a force to be reckoned with, but seeing her take charge of her dreams and their family's future was nothing short of inspiring. He found himself falling in love with her all over again, appreciating her unwavering commitment to their shared goals.
As the two discussed their plans, the camera on Mallory's tablet captured their candid moments, broadcasting their journey to their growing audience. They laughed, they teased, and they shared their hopes and aspirations with the world.
Unbeknownst to them, their growing online presence would set the stage for events that would test their bond and challenge their love in ways they could never have imagined.
Later that evening, when the world outside was cloaked in darkness, Harris sat down with his trusted friend and confidant, David. He needed counsel and support, and he knew that David would stand by him, no matter the challenges that lay ahead.
In hushed tones, Harris shared his findings about Dominic, the CEO of News Hubb Plus, and the man responsible for the relentless gossip surrounding him and Mallory. He spoke of Dominic's recent divorce, a detail that only deepened his suspicions.
David listened intently, his expression reflecting both concern and determination. He had witnessed the toll this situation was taking on his friend, and he was ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Harris.
With resolve in his voice, Harris outlined his plan to confront Dominic and put an end to the interference in his and Mallory's lives. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he couldn't allow their happiness to be compromised any longer.
"If you need anything, I am here for you buddy. We will never let this stranger ruin your progressing relationship with Mallory and Harriet."
"Thank you, David, for listening. I needed someone to talk to this time besides Mallory."
"Anytime. I am just a call away."
The next day, Mallory got an unexpected visitor. "Dominic?" Mallory uttered Dominic's name in surprise. It seems Dominic has the habit of unannounced visits to his friends. The first time he did it was during Harriet's birthday.
"Hi, Mallory, I hope my sudden presence is not a problem for you," Dominic leaned close for a kiss on the cheek.
"Of course not, I was just busying myself for a future business venture I'm about to start."
"Oh, business. I didn't know you're into business now."
"After I stopped working, I thought of how to have my own income for me and Harriet and eventually thought of making an online business. This is my first time starting a small business. Harris has been helping me with all the things needed to start my business smoothly."
"I can be of help too."
"What... are you into business now?" Mallory asked curiously. She realized she didn't know much about Dominic even after being friends with him for a while in St. David. Yet, the man knows too much about her including how she ended up in St David and chose to stay raising Harriet alone.
Dominic jolted like she had just gone back to reality. "Oh, no. Not really. Just offering a helping hand, just in case you need a friend's help."
"It's okay, Dominic, I don't want to take your time. By the way, what brought you here? Is there something important you'd like to discuss?"
"I am visiting as an old friend Mallory. You know how much I care about you and Harriet, right?"
"Yes, I know, Dominic," Mallory said hesitantly. Curiosity forms in her head as to why Dominic has been asking such questions. "What is this all about?"
"Mallory, you look more beautiful than ever. You know I want you more than a friend even when we were in St. David, right?"
"Dominic, we've talked about this. What are you really trying to say? Get to the point."
Dominic's first plan was to remind Mallory of the time he had been there for her during her pregnancy and the labor when she gave birth to Harriet in St. David. He believed that revisiting these moments of vulnerability and the bond they had formed during that time would rekindle Mallory's feelings for him. He knew that Mallory had appreciated his support immensely back then, and he intended to use that to his advantage.
Dominic also had a strategy to win over Harriet's heart. He had observed the special bond between Mallory and her daughter, and he understood that gaining Harriet's approval was crucial to winning Mallory back. Dominic had prepared a series of thoughtful gifts for the little girl, knowing that Harriet's affection could influence Mallory's feelings.
"Mallory, I want you to be my girlfriend. Please give me a chance. I can give you and Harriet a peaceful life outside the lens of the press. A life without rumors constantly bombarding your peace."
It was clear to Mallory as to why Dominic continued sending her flowers every week with thoughtful notes. He even sends some gifts to Mallory, which causes trouble with Harris. She would insist on it as a friendly gift to their daughter.
Mallory found herself caught in the middle, torn between her past connection with Dominic and her present life with Harris and Harriet. She couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the weight of her choices. As she heard Dominic confess in front of her, gave Mallory doubt in defending him against Harris.
"Dominic, I can take care of my daughter. You don't have to worry about us. I know you've helped me so much before, but I couldn't give you more than friendship."
"Is it Harris? Is that why we can't be more than friends? I thought you were only here for you and Harriet's safety?"
"Dominic, let's not go there."
"What is this man doing in my house?" Harris asked, anger evident in his voice. He got home early from his office with Dominic sitting in front of Mallory, which boiled his blood.
Mallory looked at Harris, her eyes wide in surprise. Harris doesn't usually home until 10 pm or 12 midnight. Dominic had a smirk on his face seeing Harris was pissed off.
