CHAPTER 18

Rose found herself in front of a hill that was covered in green bushes and grass. The one hundred seventy-meter hill had a single tree on its peak, which stood out from all the other trees. The place was so beautiful that the scenic views she had seen on postcards couldn't compare to where she was now. The sky was clear, with hardly any clouds visible. The sun was shining brightly, but it didn't hurt her eyes. The temperature was cool, even though the sun's rays shone directly onto her beautiful skin. The place was incredibly quiet and peaceful. The overwhelming silence made Rose wonder if she was already dead and if the excruciating pain she had felt before was just a distant memory. This place might be heaven, she thought to herself, as she tried to explore her surroundings. But if she was truly dead, why was she all alone here?
She slowly turned her gaze around the entire area, taking note of the unfamiliar trees, plants, and the strangely calm wild animals that roamed around. The air was clean and fresh, filling her lungs with every breath. As she walked forward towards the hill, she could feel the leaves from the bushes brushing against her hands.
"If this is heaven, then I must be dead," she said to herself, feeling a tinge of sadness at the thought. But then her eyes widened in amazement as she witnessed the various flowers of different sizes and colors blooming and covering the bushes and grassy ground around her. The trees changed the colors of their leaves, displaying various shades of green, amber, brown, and red. Most of them were also bearing fruits that she recognized, while others were completely unfamiliar. She was awestruck as birds of different sizes and colors spread their wings and gracefully flew through the sky and from tree to tree.
Above the hill, where the single tree stood, Rose saw a man and a woman holding hands as they approached the tree. They were both naked. The man seemed hesitant, but the woman was determined to reach the tree. Eventually, the man followed her lead. As they got closer, the woman pointed at something on the tree. It was then that Rose realized she was witnessing the same story her father used to tell her as a bedtime story. She even remembered him telling it to Julius before he fell asleep in his bedroom. It was also the same story she had read in the Bible during her religious lessons. It was the story of the first man and woman, the story of Adam and Eve.
Rose watched as Eve pointed at the strange fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The fruit was red, unlike the typical apple often described in the story. It was the size of a human fist, bright red, and almost heart-shaped. What made it even stranger was that the fruit appeared to be beating, just like a human heart. The tree glowed as Eve touched the fruit.
Rose screamed, desperately trying to make Eve stop and refrain from eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. However, her screams went unheard. She wanted to run and talk to them, but her body was paralyzed, leaving her unable to move from where she stood. Tears streamed down her face as she helplessly watched the fall of mankind unfold in front of her.
Another man descended from the tree. Rose recognized him. It was Satan, deceiving Eve into picking the fruit and enticing her to eat it and share it with Adam. Satan's voice was captivating, akin to thousands of glasses harmoniously playing together, entrancing even Rose. Adam reminded Eve that God had forbidden them from eating the fruit of that tree, warning that doing so would be an act of disobedience that would result in death. However, Eve ignored Adam, listening instead to Satan's deceitful words. Slowly, she reached out her hand, gently plucking the fruit. The moment it separated from the tree, the glowing ceased.
"...taste it, and it will surely open your eyes..." Satan whispered. His beauty was undeniable, which explained why Eve fell under his charm. Eve stared at the fruit in her hand, her mouth watering at the sight of the luscious, still-beating fruit.
"...eat the fruit. From the moment it opens your eyes, you will be like God. Like your creator..." Satan hissed with satisfaction, observing Eve as she took her first bite.
Eve savored the fruit, finding it delicious. Adam watched her, his mouth watering as he saw her indulge in the forbidden fruit.
"Come, Adam, join your better half and taste how delicious the fruit is," Satan urged.
"But it is forbidden by God," Adam responded.
"It is forbidden because God wants to be the only God Himself. It's time for you to experience what it feels like to be God," Satan said, gently encouraging Eve to draw closer to Adam. "Now, Eve, share the fruit with Adam."
Eve handed the fruit to Adam, and he took it without hesitation. In a split second, Adam took his first bite, relishing its taste. He had never felt so hungry until he tasted the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Satan grinned, observing humanity's vulnerability. He climbed the tree, watching as Adam and Eve shared the fruit. Suddenly, they felt something stirring within them, an undeniable urge that needed to be satisfied, akin to hunger but different. Both of them looked at each other, exploring each other's bodies. Adam tenderly kissed Eve's lips, pulling her closer to him, and then their eyes opened. They made love before the eyes of God.
The sky darkened as massive rain clouds covered the entire sky, casting darkness over the garden. The wind unleashed its power, accompanied by flashes of lightning and deafening thunder. Satan grew alarmed as he looked up at the sky. He knew that God was not pleased with his act of luring His creation into sin. The wind grew stronger and more forceful.
Rose could feel God's anger radiating through the garden due to Adam and Eve's disobedience. She watched as Adam and Eve rose from the grassy ground, feeling a sense of unease. Their conscience began to weigh heavily on them. They picked broad leaves from the trees and covered their nakedness, suddenly aware of their vulnerability. They felt ashamed of their actions and tried to hide from the gaze of God. It was their disobedience that made them feel uncomfortable; it was their sin that opened their eyes to the knowledge of good and evil. God addressed them regarding their actions. Adam blamed Eve for offering him the fruit, while Eve shifted the blame onto Satan for deceiving her.
Adam and Eve suffered God's wrath and were punished accordingly. An angel of God appeared before them, driving them away from the Garden of Eden. A bolt of lightning struck the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, causing Satan to fall to the ground and crawl on his belly like a snake. God cursed him for his jealousy and pride, which had led mankind to fall from grace and lose their immortality.
Volts of lightning and thunder were everywhere as Rose witnessed the sky burning red. A sense of déjà vu washed over her as she observed thousands of angels falling from the sky, their wings torn from their backs. Flaming swords and daggers clashed as angels battled one another, their shouts and screams filling the air. Some cursed God, while others pleaded for forgiveness, and Rose couldn't help but feel sorry for their transgressions.
Overwhelmed by what she was witnessing, Rose covered her eyes with both hands and began to cry hysterically. If she were dead, why would she be subjected to such a sight? she pondered. The numbness in her body left her unable to scream, but her attention was drawn to a glowing scar on her wrist. It bore the same mark that had appeared before she woke up in this place, a mark whose meaning eluded her.
"It's an angelic script, a symbol of strength," a man's voice behind her startled Rose. She turned to find a man clad in gleaming white metallic armor from the upper half of his body, his face clean-shaven and youthful, resembling the man she had seen at the hotel. Standing over six feet tall with a muscular build, it was unmistakably Seth.
"Seth?!" Rose exclaimed, surprised at his presence.
"I'm glad you still recognize me, Rose," he replied, his expression unchanged.
"How could I forget the man who always gives me chills whenever he speaks to me?" she said. This time, relief flooded through her at the sight of a familiar face. "But why are you here too? Are you dead like me?"
Seth chuckled dryly, clicking his tongue three times. "Dead? Do you really think we're both dead now?" he mocked, prompting no response from Rose, who remained confused.
"We're not dead, Rose," he assured her.
"If I'm not dead, then why am I here? Where exactly is this place?" she desperately inquired.
"You still don't understand, Rose?"
She shook her head. "No, I don't."
Seth smiled and settled himself on the grassy ground under the shade of an unfamiliar tree, his gaze fixed on the sky where millions of angels descended like bolts of lightning.
"This is the Garden of Eden, Rose. It was created by God solely for humans, but they lost it the moment they disobeyed Him," Seth explained sadly.
"Seriously?" Rose laughed. "Are you on drugs?" Her laughter faded as she peered into Seth's face. "I'm sorry, I just can't wrap my head around everything that's been happening to me these past few days," she apologized, her tone subdued. Seth nodded in understanding.
"This is the very place where the fall of man occurred, where Satan enticed Adam and Eve to disobey God and forfeit their immortality," Seth continued, his eyes filled with sorrow. "It is also where some of our kind, led by Lucifer, a Seraphim, rebelled against God. This place was God's gift to mankind, His masterpiece. But due to man's weakness and disobedience, he was cast out from here."
"So, you're saying that this is the Garden of Eden," Rose repeated, her voice tinged with skepticism. "But how did I end up here in the first place? You said I'm not dead, and this isn't heaven. Please, can you explain it clearly to me?"
"You're here because of your nature," Seth replied.
"What do you mean?"
"This is where it all began, Rose. The fall of man and the fall of angels," Seth elucidated.
"I still don't understand. Can you explain it more directly?" Rose implored, her patience wearing thin.
"Rose, you represent God's creation," Seth proclaimed, his voice growing louder. Rose was left stunned, overwhelmed by confusion.
"What do you mean?" she questioned, her gaze locked with Seth's deep blue eyes. With a proud stance, Seth met her gaze and a smile crossed his lips.
"Young lady, you are a Nephilim. You embody God's ultimate creation, a being that is part human, part angel," he revealed, his body emanating an ethereal glow. Rose's face turned pale, her mouth hanging open at the mention of her being a Nephilim.
"It can't be," She said in disbelief.
"No, this is not possible. Maybe I'm just dreaming. I need to wake up, I need to leave if this is indeed a nightmare," Rose said. She turned away from Seth, intending to leave that place. But how can she escape her current location if she is not in reality? How will she wake up? Or maybe she's going insane, and that's why she's experiencing an impossible hallucination.
Rose burst into loud laughter as she remembered what Seth said to her, claiming that she is a Nephilim. It's incredibly impossible for this to happen, especially considering her understanding of these beings.
"Nephilim..." she muttered, then laughed again, sounding almost hysterical.
