**Chapter 23: The Transformation Returns** The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow upon the campus that had been the stage for their journey. As Marcus and Francine stood together under the celestial canopy, a sense of anticipation filled the air. The time had come for the final chapter of their tale, a conclusion that held both hope and uncertainty. Marcus's gaze never wavered from Francine's face, his heart beating with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "Francine, as we stand here, on the brink of a new chapter, I want you to know that your love has been my guiding light." Francine's eyes shone with affection, her fingers tracing patterns on his hand as she spoke. "Marcus, your strength and resilience have inspired me beyond words. We've faced the darkness together, and we've emerged stronger." Their connection was palpable, a bond forged through trials and victories. As they shared a look that conveyed a universe of feelings, Marcus's voice took on a tone of certainty. "It's time for us to rewrite our story, Francine," he said, his voice carrying the weight of his decision. With a nod, Francine's gaze remained steady. "I'm ready, Marcus." With a deep breath, Marcus closed his eyes, his fingers interlaced with Francine's as they stood united against the backdrop of starlit night. The air around them shimmered, a gentle current of magic enveloping them like a cocoon. The same enchantment that had once altered Marcus's appearance now swirled around him, working its transformative magic once more. As the spell took effect, Marcus's form began to shift, his features changing and evolving. The curse that had concealed his true identity slowly faded away, revealing the prince who had been hidden beneath the surface all along. The sight that greeted Francine was both awe-inspiring and heartwarming. Marcus, regal and resplendent in his princely attire, stood before her. His eyes met hers, a mixture of gratitude and joy shining within them. "I'm free, Francine," he whispered, his voice a melodious affirmation of their shared victory. She smiled through her emotions, her heart swelling with happiness for him. "You deserve every bit of this, Marcus." Yet, as the magic of transformation settled, Francine felt a change within herself as well. Her skin tingled, and a soft light enveloped her momentarily. When the magic receded, Francine looked down at herself, her appearance altered once more. The beauty that had once captivated the campus had reverted to its original state, a reflection of the appearance she had been born with. Marcus's gaze softened as he took in her changed form. "Francine..." She met his eyes, her smile a blend of acceptance and contentment. "Our love transcends appearances, Marcus. It's the connection that truly matters." With a step forward, he held her in his arms, their embrace a testament to the unbreakable bond they shared. "You've always seen the heart beneath the surface, Francine." As the moon cast its gentle light upon them, they stood together, transformed in more ways than one. Their love had broken curses, defied conventions, and shown that appearances were merely a fleeting aspect of a much deeper connection. With the dawn of a new day on the horizon, they looked towards the future, ready to embrace the world with newfound understanding, unity, and a love that had been tested and proven true. **Subchapter: A Return to True Selves** Under the soft embrace of the moonlight, Marcus and Francine stood in the heart of the campus, a place that had witnessed their journey unfold. The air was charged with a mixture of anticipation and a sense of closure, as if the universe itself was holding its breath for what was to come. Marcus's eyes were locked on Francine's, a mixture of determination and vulnerability in his gaze. "Francine, as we stand on the cusp of this moment, I want you to know that your love has been my guiding star." Her fingers intertwined with his, Francine's smile was tender and unwavering. "And you, Marcus, have been my anchor through it all. We've faced the shadows together, and now we're here, ready to embrace whatever comes next." The bond that had strengthened over time pulsed between them, an unspoken understanding of the depth of their feelings. With the weight of their journey hanging in the air, Marcus's voice held a sense of resolution. "It's time for us to break the chains of the past and create our own destiny," he said, his words carrying a quiet determination. Francine nodded, her eyes never leaving his. "I'm with you, Marcus." As they stood united, a subtle shift began to ripple through the air, a gentle current of magic that surrounded them like a protective cocoon. The very enchantment that had once concealed Marcus's true identity now began to work its transformative magic once more. With eyes closed, Marcus embraced the magic, allowing it to reshape him, to shed the façade that had hidden his princely form. As the transformation took place, the air seemed to shimmer with the weight of destiny, unveiling the prince who had been obscured by the curse. When Marcus finally opened his eyes, Francine met his gaze, her expression a mixture of awe and warmth. There he stood before her, regal and noble, his princely attire a testament to his true self. "I'm free, Francine," Marcus murmured, his voice a symphony of relief and gratitude. Her heart swelled with happiness for him, a smile lighting up her features. "You look absolutely... magnificent, Marcus." Yet, as the transformation settled, Francine felt a subtle change within herself. A gentle light enveloped her, a sensation of magic taking hold. When the light receded, Francine's reflection in the moonlight had altered. The stunning beauty that had captivated the campus had reverted to her original appearance, the features she had been born with. Marcus's eyes met hers, his gaze full of understanding and tenderness. "Francine..." She offered him a gentle smile, her heart light despite the change. "Our love isn't bound by appearances, Marcus. It's the connection between our souls that truly matters." Stepping closer, he held her in a warm embrace, their proximity a testament to the intimacy they shared. "You've always seen beyond the surface, Francine." Under the moon's serene glow, they stood together, transformed in their own ways. The essence of their journey had been to embrace the essence of who they were, without the constraints of curses or societal expectations. As they held each other, they embraced the truth that appearances were fleeting, but the love they shared was eternal. With a newfound sense of unity, they looked toward the horizon, ready to face whatever lay ahead – together, as their authentic selves.

When a novel in poetry is done well, it is incredibly fulfilling. They don't often work for me, to be perfectly honest. My eyes tend to skim the lines, which causes me to finish quickly—which I appreciate—but I feel like I don't really retain much of what I read. Or, I feel that the structure doesn't do the story justice; I want more but the format doesn't allow for it. Thankfully, neither was always the case with this title (more on that later). The author deserves so much appreciation for this
