Once upon a time, there was a plain college student named Nancy, who had a best friend named Marcus. They were both considered unattractive by the beautiful students on campus, and they often faced bullying. Seeking a solution, Nancy turned to her aunt, who happened to be a witch. Her aunt transformed her, giving her a new name, Francine, and a new life.
Francine's transformation was so drastic that even Marcus couldn't recognize her anymore. She began to distance herself from him, leaving him to wonder what happened to Nancy. Francine's newfound beauty made her the talk of the campus, but she no longer paid attention to Marcus. Unbeknownst to Marcus, he was the true prince who had been cursed to look ugly and become a hunchback. Their paths diverged due to the curse, keeping them apart.
When a novel in poetry is done well, it is incredibly fulfilling. They don't often work for me, to be perfectly honest. My eyes tend to skim the lines, which causes me to finish quickly—which I appreciate—but I feel like I don't really retain much of what I read. Or, I feel that the structure doesn't do the story justice; I want more but the format doesn't allow for it. Thankfully, neither was always the case with this title (more on that later). The author deserves so much appreciation for this
