ONLY the sounds coming from the people inside of the house, the swaying wind, and the engine outside was filling the noise between Hussey and Aeschylus. The conversation reached its end. While on the way, bringing her boyfriend home, the two of them never spoke to each other again. Both were upset over their different opinions. Hussey didn’t take time commenting to what he wanted earlier, she just dismissively told him that she’ll take him home. Aeschylus tried reaching out for her but she never gave in. Hussey may not directly look at Aeschylus’ pleading eyes, she still sensed the energy he was emitting for her. What Aeschylus could only do was to firmly seal his eyes the same time when he tightened his hold to Hussey and rested his cheek to her shoulder blade. However, Hussey’s stoic expression prevailed. Feathery, light, and gentle touch caressed her skin with hot breath fanning her shoulder. Not trying to come up with the thought of him purposely doing it. She emitted a long, deep, inaudible breath, expressing sadness through the wind that she came contact. Her chest somehow calmed after arriving in front of the Nase residence. Hussey was aware of his nervous gesture when he got off her motorcycle, he probably waited for her to give him a kiss before she can even leave. He bit his lip, like he was anticipating something. She always give me those. . . . “Hussey. . . ,” he called in a breathy and low voice. An apologetic features greeted her once she turned her head to him. Though, her face were just contained nothing. Aeschylus can feel that Hussey won’t give him a kiss this time that’s why went close to her and pressed his lips against hers. His skin tingled when she kissed back, the gentleness was present between the shared kiss. It wasn’t long, it wasn’t short also but it’s enough for Aeschylus to reassure him that they’ll be okay. Maybe he should really give Hussey time to recollect, if ever he insisted to talk, they might just get further away even more. It’s their first issue they had face as a couple and he doesn’t want this to happen again whether it’s big or small. It’s making him restless. His eyes followed her in motion figure until she merged with the multiple vehicles, up until he can no longer hear or see her. His feet were nailed on the ground, Aeschylus just stood there in silence. They didn’t even stated goodbyes and I love you’s to each other before they parted ways. His eyes anxiously went frisk even though there’s nothing to look at in particular, his fists balled rigidly to his sides. “Aeschylus,” he heard his mother Enza called reason why he whipped his head to her direction. “Can we talk?” With lips twitching, he turned away and looked at his mother through the corners of his eyes. It’s still early in the afternoon and his mother was already home this early when she was often late to get home. Did she seriously leave her work just for this? He was very certain what they were about to discuss. Only a nod was his reply before following Enza inside of their home. Once they are settled in their seats, Aeschylus asked his mother, “Did you really abandon your work for this talk to happen right away? You know we can talk once your work is done, mom.” Enza stared at him first before she spoke, “And if you went to that place without my knowledge?” she discarded her son’s question, “Hussey’s parents talked to me, I wanted to decline their offers.” There was a long pause, Aeschylus couldn’t look straight at his mother because of the extreme force of her gaze on him. He can tell that she would never let him, Astennu didn’t even said that his mother allowed him to join the training. But he was still hopeful. “If I let you, you wouldn’t think of working for this organization, right? It’s just training, right?” As much as possible, she doesn’t want Aeschylus to get involved in this type of things. Questions and second thoughts swarmed in her head and she couldn’t just sit comfortably while doing her job when a threat was drawing close to them. Enza would never risk it. But would that make her a bad mother if she would let her son be with the one who gave him the ability to see colors again? She doesn’t want to admit it but Hussey’s family will only bring insecurity to them, her late husband Lenroe once became part of Sangre Joven and she doesn’t want to be in the state of being open to danger again. If she knew it sooner, she wouldn’t let Hussey in his life already. What if they will be targeted because of Hussey’s family background? She never wished that to happen. Enza can clearly see the happiness that Hussey brought to Aeschylus yet why would his son consider the information that the Aozora family gave to him? Her fist clenched, none of them dared to open their mouths. It took Aeschylus more minutes to have enough courage to tell his mother this, “Mom, I want to join. . . .” There, he said it. The same time he announced it, her breathing halted with her nails digging the arm of her cushion chair. “It’s just training, am I right? Maybe we can make it work but let me think about it first—” “No, mom.” A muscle in his jaw twitched. “It’s not just training, I want to be a cadet. So what if I’m inexperience? There’s still room for improvement and I will be able to do better than I am right now if I get stronger.” “Why are you considering joining? You haven’t even experienced facing real life battle! Let alone trained. Did Hussey push you to decide this?” Aeschylus became alarmed when Hussey went in their exchange, not expecting that his mother will mention his girlfriend. “W-What? No, mom!” he opposed before Enza can say something more. He panted. “I want this for myself, no one dictated me about what I should decide. Hussey didn’t tell me to do this—” “But this organization came from Hussey, right? It also just means that she wants you to drag there. I’m so sorry, Aeschylus. But I will not let you.” Her back was detached from the back rest caused by the tension between them. There’s no way she’ll agree to his ideas for being one of them. “Mom! You don’t understand—” “No, Aeschylus. You don’t understand me at all,” every words Enza pronounced was emphasized with toughness, “You don’t understand that once you involve yourself in that type of life—there’s a high chance of you dying!” Because of the overwhelming emotions in her heart, she couldn’t help but to stand up so he can be able to sense how serious she was. Aeschylus’ lips and orbs quivered as he mustered the same severity that his mother also wielded. “I already knew that very well, m-mom. . . .” That caused her to drop, her son reached out for her but she just dodged his hands. “You already know but why does it feel like it’s hard for you to understand what I would feel? You’re the only one I have, you’re the only memory that Lenroe left to me.” Aeschylus’ eyes shone as he engulfed his mother with persistent tears wanting to burst forth. “You don’t understand . . .” She continuously shook her head as she was being gathered in her son’s arms. “Because of that type of work, we lost your father.” Due to the things he heard from Enza, he stilled. His eyes went round, a stinging sensation flooded his chest as Enza went on, “If your father never dedicated his life to them, he wouldn’t have died.” The tears that Aeschylus tried to suppress escaped from his eyes while he listened to her. “Maybe if you didn’t meet Hussey, you wouldn’t be expose to the other side of the world.” His head shook. No, mom, you’re wrong. . . . She’s a mother, if she let this happen again, she might lose her son and she’ll be left alone. This wasn’t the family she dreamed, but what can she do now? Like her husband, her son also refused to listen to her too. What can she do to make him stop? To make him change his mind? Her son was quick to make a life threatening choice, what could ever benefit him if he chose to not live a normal life? That kind of work wasn’t meant for him.
