NEVER once she found a free time to schedule some date so she can be with Aeschylus for the whole day. Thankfully, after two months of bulldozing herself in her never-ending tasks—the administration gave her division a long rest. Hussey already settled the dates where she can give her time to Aeschylus. Hopefully, those were enough for the both of them—even though Hussey wasn’t really contented for having two weeks’ rest only. Who was she to waste the opportunity given to her? It’s hard to find time for herself even now that she’s working in SJ fulltime. The young couple was too looking forward to the date that Hussey announced upon finishing the meeting their batch of combatants attended. After hearing the news from her batch mates that the administrators will finally give them rest, she immediately plotted dates with her boyfriend which she also texted him afterward so once she came back to SJ, she’ll meet with him thereafter. Hussey doesn’t care if she didn’t have a rest that day, she wouldn’t want to throw away the time or else she’ll miss it. She’s the one who plotted everything yet she’s running late and it appeared like time was toying her. There’s a violent urge bubbling inside her, the urge to point her fingers to everyone—just to have anyone she can blame for her delay. Her hands were itching to tug her hair and curse herself to death out of infuriation. Hussey was deeply aggravated and it’s consuming the time more because she couldn’t do anything right anymore. Hussey was currently running late; she doesn’t want to miss this day. Hussey have been missing everything about him, she just needed time alone with him. If it wasn’t just because of her stupid father and stupid Kye which she thought both of them joined forces to eat her time. Unconsciously, Hussey reached the envelope that Astennu handed to her, her task was to give it to the chastisers as it contained of data of the new prisoners coming to the Sheol. Then Kye came up to her. “Sweetie, I need you to pass these papers to the scouted first years—” Because of annoyance, she grabbed something—maybe it was a vase and she doesn’t really care when she threw it at Kye or Astennu, whoever she threw it at either of them doesn’t matter. Not like it will do anything to them actually. “It’s just a simple walking down the ground! Y’all do it, I have somewhere to go, ask someone else if you’re lazy, old geezers!” Hussey hurried out of Kye’s office. Before she can even get far away, she threw the envelope back to the room. Reason why she heard Astennu and Kye complained about themselves being sexy, smoking hot, young men. All that Hussey could do was to roll her eyes when she finally dashed out, because of Astennu and Kye’s personality made Hussey like Sofronio better than those two. Even though Astennu is her father, he’s just the same as Kye. She looked heavenward. It seemed like the sky was getting darker, she hoped she get there in time even if she doubted it already since she’s in SJ. If she only moved a little faster, maybe she can still make it, right? Hussey tapped her pocket where her phone should be only to ended up cursing herself when she didn’t feel any bulge. Maybe I’ll just miss the half of the movie, Sky should be inside now, shit. . . . To tell the truth, she was not just late—they missed the entire movie. Aeschylus stood alone outside the theater. Waiting if she would ever arrive. He texted her but she never read it, it stayed delivered and it was sent for half an hour now. Aeschylus tightened his clutch to the peony’s stem, he had been watching it get ruined by the wind. Negative thoughts swam through his mind the whole time. People would constantly look at him weirdly as some noticed he’s been there for so many hours. They probably thought he got stood up. Were Hussey tired of him? He understood that she rarely gave her time for him but it had been two weeks since he last heard from her. Is this the consequence of dating a woman that have a dangerous work? He clenched his chest when it ached. I love her so much; I can’t lose her if she were to leave me. I get it, I’m just nothing . . . nothing too important. His thoughts were soon interrupted by a hand on his back, Aeschylus expected it to be Hussey. But he was pushed by a stranger. “Don’t get on the way.” The stranger seemed to be attending the same school he was in when he was in junior high school. Hands gripped tighter around the flowers than he could ever held before, his teeth grated. Aeschylus wasn’t thinking clearly. Obviously was enraged in his thoughts, it only led him to do foolish things. “Watch where you’re going, asshole,” it was said under his breath. World must be really against him because it didn’t go unheard by him. “What the hell did you say? Huh?” He turned his heels to him, eyeing him in anger. Aeschylus didn’t answer, he shifted his eyes. He doesn’t want trouble. In the following second, he was being slammed against the wall. Screeching pain stung his back after being hit by the metal wall. “Aww, was that for your granny?” he mocked while stomping his foot on the said flowers. It got crushed, every petal of them was severely ruined. He received a kick from his neck reason why he coughed terribly as if he’s close to vomit. It hurt but it wasn’t as worse as he experienced in the hands of his bullies before. Aeschylus laughed, even if he joined training with the cadets—he still couldn’t make use what he learned, he couldn’t protect himself in this situation. He even had the guts to work as a combatant in SJ, how lame can he be? The stranger kicked him to his abdomen, he could only close his eyes as the stranger went on. When Aeschylus heard something like thunders in his ears which was coming from the concrete wall, he fluttered his eyes open. A cracking sound came out by force. “What do you think you’re doing?”
