Wrong King

I went into my bedroom and grabbed the chalice that was hidden under my bed. As soon as it was in my hands, I breathed out a sigh of relief and hugged it close to my chest.
“Really? Your best hiding place for the most powerful and ancient relic is under your bed? Wow, lady, I feel so safe and assured that no one would ever find it. You are such a great keeper, princess!” Serena said sarcastically as she kept on jumping on my bed.
“Hey.” I frowned and pointed a finger at her. “Don’t judge me. Sometimes people don’t think about looking twice to more obvious hiding places!” Then I whirled around and glared at Kellar and Stella, who were both talking and laughing together as if they were in their own world.
And I didn’t like it.
I got up and started making my way to the two of them while plastering on a very tight smile. “Heeeeeeey there! Whatcha guys talking about?” I added my lashes as I asked my sister.
“Hi, Amy. We were just talking about how Prince Chace froze his own arm while trying to figure out the molecular properties of our magic’s nature.” Stella says. And again, my sister is speaking in words that I am having a hard time comprehending. Then my sister looked at Kellar. “I wish you would have been there.”
At her words, my eyebrow twitched. What does she mean by that?
Kellar simply smiled at her. “It’s okay. I don’t have magic so I rather stick with swords.” He says.
“Boo!” Serena howled as she continued to jumped on my bed. “Little kid, don’t take this the wrong way but I don’t think your body is that fit to be sword fighting! I mean, what’s with all those bruises?!” She pointed out and started laughing.
My sister did not appreciate her comment and made a cube of ice over the nymph’s head. It shattered as soon as Serena’s head collided with it and she fell on my bed and clutched her head. “Ow!” She complained at first but then she sat up laughing and clapping her hands. “That was the first time I saw winter fairy magic! DO THAT AGAIN!”
My sister raised a brow at her. “Lady, you are crazy.” She says.
“I SAID DO THAT AGAIN!” Serena screamed this time and charged at her. Stella got frightened and started running around my room, trying to avoid Serena.
Meanwhile, I looked at Kellar. Even though I do not like it when he’s near my sister, I still have to admit that he is a pretty good kid and I kind of feel sorry for him after hearing Serena’s words. “Are you okay?” I asked him.
“Yes, princess.” He looked up at me and smiled. “It doesn’t bother me. Nor is it the first time I ever hear it.”
I glanced at the chalice before looking at Kellar. An idea started popping into my head. Maybe I could restore Kellar’s essence? I mean, I know that I might regret it later because he might have a cute familiar in the process and become closer to Stella.
But I feel like it is the only way that this kid can actually have a new life here. Plus, he doesn’t deserve the curse that has been passed down to him.
I ordered Viex and Custard to go and fetch the princes as soon as the meeting ended. I can only assume that the plan is going to change drastically ever since King Meruem arrived so it will be a while before the others can get here.
Might as well do some practice.
I went into my bathroom and filled the cup with water. Then I went back outside. Serena was still harassing my baby sister as they were still playing keep away.
I headed for Kellar and tapped his shoulder. “Hey, Kellar. Do you mind helping me with something?” At my request, the young prince immediately stood up on his feet in full attention.
“Yes, princess.” I swear this kid is so polite and formal that it was really hard for me not to hate him.
I held up my finger in front of him. “Would you mind giving me a small cut?”
“Pardon?” He asked.
“Will you just do it? I am doing you a favor.” I told him. At my command, he immediately got a small knife from his belt and gave me one last glance as he hesitated. I gave him a nod and he finally made a small prick on my finger. I flinched.
“I’m sorry. Are you okay?” Kellar looked guilty.
“Yeah. Don’t worry about it.” I assured him as I dripped the blood into the water. I watched as it dispersed before I whispered the magic word into the cup so that only I could hear it. “Nachos.” I said before pouring the contents over Kellar’s head.
Kellar froze as water dripped from his head and onto his shirt.
“Amy!? What are you doing?!” Stella had a bewildered look on her face as she ran to Kellar’s side.
“Stella, wait.” I pulled Stella to my side as I watched and waited for Kellar’s reaction.
“Um...princess? What was that supposed to be?” He asked.
“OH WOW!” Serena screamed and was suddenly harassing Kellar this time. She grabbed his face and began looking closely at his pupils. “YOU RESTORED HIM!”
“Restored?” Stella looked up at me in wonder. “Restored what?”
“His magic.” I said and addressed Kellar this time. “Can you feel him? Your partner?”`
Kellar moved away from Stella and closed his eyes in concentration. “Umm...princess? How am I suppose to be doing this exactly I-” Kellar paused and stifled a gasped. Then he opened his eyes in surprise.
“Well?” I grinned.
Kellar was still so surprised that he was rendered speechless. “I...I...yes.” A small smile played on his lips as he looked at me gratefully. “And, Princess? It’s a her and not a him.” He corrected me.
I snorted. “Fair enough. Be sure to introduce us to her when she arrives.” I was about to bend down and ruffle his hair, but Kellar had another idea. He got up and forwards and hugged me.
“Thank you, princess.” He whispered. “Thank you.”
“I...Uh…” I stuttered as I returned the hug. “You’re welcome.” I said and leaned down to whisper in his ear. “But this does not mean that I want you getting close to my sister.” I muttered lowly so that only I could hear.
Kellar moved back. “Pardon?”
“YOU NEVER HEARD ANYTHING!” I screamed.
There was a sudden knock on the door. I smiled brightly and came running to get the door. As I opened it, I saw Custard carrying King Fred in his mouth with his coat. The black wolf was sitting outside and wagging his tail proudly as he set the warlock king to the ground.
“Um...hi? Is this Custard? I heard the others calling him that just before he abducted me.” Fred says.
‘Master, look. I brought the King. Just like you asked me to!’ He says proudly.
I had to grit my grit and pretend to smile at Custard. When I gave that order to Custard, I was actually referring to Nate. I was just joking when I said it. But apparently, Custard did not get the memo that Nate is now a king as well.
My bad. I am such an idiot.
“Hey, Fred. Where are the others?” I asked awkwardly.
Fred looked from side to side before he answered. “I don’t know, Rose. Sorry. I was with the princes a while ago until….” The moment Fred made eye contact with Fred, Custard licked his face.
Now, the King of Hazel was covered in my wolf spirit’s drool. ‘I missed you, King Fred!’
I facepalmed at the sudden humiliation. Why’d he have to do that?
Thankfully, Fred is a happy-go-lucky guy that he simply laughs in this situation. “So you really are, Custard. What a magnificent boy you have become.” He started scratching Custard’s chin.
“Rose?” I looked to the side and let out a breath of relief when I saw Viex being carried by Nate. He was together with Ren and Dan.
‘Princess, the idiot wolf brought the wrong King.’ Viex deadpanned as he looked at Custard.
Custard seems offended by his accusation that he turned to Viex with a pout.
‘No, I didn’t. This is King Fred! He’s a king!’
‘And this is King Nathaniel.’ Viex retorted.
Custard blinked for a free minute before he gasped. ‘Prince Nate is now KING!?’ Custard let out a howl as he jumped, morphed back into his smaller form, and attacked Nate with kisses. ‘Congratulations, King Nate! Are we going to have a feast?’
“Hey, what gives! I missed you too, little guy, but I think you are showering me with too much affection.” Nate laughs as he tried to move Custard away from him. Then, when Custard saw Ren, he attacked him instead. Ren let out a laugh as he hugged the little wolf in his arms.
“He was congratulating you.” I told Nate as he whipped the drool off of his face with the sleeve of his coat.
“Tell him I said thanks.” He says before looking at me. “So, what’s up? Why are we here?”
“HI, THERE!” Serena suddenly got out of my room to greet them. Ren and Nate’s eyes widened why they saw the Nymph.
Serena, upon seeing Fred and Dan, let out a very long and loud gasp. “GAH! The werewolf can split into two! And why is there a young warlock here!? What happened to the forget-me-not guy? Did you replace him with magic-boy over here? Boy, you people sure are harsh!”
“Serena?” Ren wondered out loud before the rest of them gave me a questioning look.
“It’s a long story.” I said. “I will explain later. But right now, can we head to the royal library? Ren and Dan, can you guys go and get Ace without anyone knowing? I think I might have a way to restore his memory.”
Ren and Dan blinked before they exchange a look and beamed brightly before giving me a thumbs up. “We’re on it.” Ren winked as he and his twin rushed out to go and look for Ace.
I already told Ren and Nate of my hunch about the chalice before. But we waited and got a second opinion instead just to be safe. After all, none of us knows to what extent the chalice can cure.
“Rose? Are you sure that this won’t hurt him? You said so before that you weren’t sure.” Nate seemed worried.
“I’m sure.” I said and pointed a thumb at Serena, who was not pulling on Fred’s cape. “And that is why she’s here. She confirmed it herself.”
Nate took one last glance at Serena before he looked back at me with a nod. “Alright.” He grinned. “Let’s go and make preparations to bring back the PRINCE.”
