Chapter 74 She Looks Different
GILBERT
There was a general meeting in the Lycan Pack and I was to attend it with Arden. This was going to be the first meeting I would be attending in a long while and I wasn't looking forward to it. I had not expected my mother to send Arden to me to prepare to attend the meeting. When she found out about me rejecting Xavia, she was furious and she asked me to apologize to the Pack members and step down for a while but I refused. There was no way I would apologize to the Pack members for rejecting my mate. Was she, not the one who asked for the rejection?
I insisted that I had no reason to apologize and that got her angry. I did not expect that she would apologize to the Pack members on my behalf and tell them I agreed to step down until I felt remorseful.
Would I ever be remorseful? That was my first thought. I had done nothing to be remorseful for.
My mom commanded the guards not to allow me to leave my room but she knew that they would not be able to hold me back so she visited her witch friend who cast a spell. I was unable to go out but whosoever enters can leave without stress. I wondered what sort of spell her friend cast that was only effective on me. With me locked up in my room, Arden took over the affairs of the Pack and he refused to visit me. I knew he was still angry with me for treating Xavia badly. He was also angry that I treated his sister badly.
I was locked up for a long time and I did not know what changed my mother's mind and made her think that I should attend the meeting.
"Have you not been attending the meeting?" I asked Arden who ignored me.
"You should get ready. We leave in an hour" he said and walked out of the room.
"How am I going to leave the room when I am done?" I yelled but there was no reply from him.
I groaned, throwing a pillow across the room.
How long would I remain like this?
A maid walked in with a tray of food. I did not bother to stare at her but only waved her off. Most of the maids now fear me terribly as they all thought that if I could treat my mate badly, who can I not treat badly?
Most of the maids had refused to come to my room after Xavia left. They feared that their life could be in danger. There had also been a rumor that I had treated Kate the same way I treated Xavia, that is the reason she left too. There was also another rumor that after I rejected Xavia I killed her and took her out of the Pack.
No one knew when Xavia left the Pack and if there could be anyone who knew about her leaving, it would be Arden. I was less bothered about what people said because I knew I did none of what the rumors said but my mom was worried that this would spoil my reputation, so she sent out guards to find out about her whereabouts.
News came that she was seen in the Lycan Pack and is doing well. My mom was happy to break the news to me but I did not see any reason to be happy.
"Gilbert, hope you are getting ready already?" I heard my mother say.
"Do I have to attend this meeting?"
"You have to. The meeting is for the Alphas"
"Let Arden go. Has he not been attending meetings..."
"Aren't you the Alpha?" she asked. "You should attend"
I groaned slightly. Why do I feel like this is not about me attending the meeting as the Alpha but that she wanted me to see how well Xavia is doing?
There had been a rumor that something might be going on between the Lycan King and Xavia. Although I do not believe it, I could not help but feel that it might be the truth.
The Lycan King has always shown favoritism towards her. Not only does he show that he cares about her, but I also have this feeling that he might be in love with her too.
"Did you know that the Spirit clan has finally found their Princess?" my mom asked and I furrowed my brows.
"Has she not been missing for so many years?"
"She has and I heard she is someone we know"
I blinked. Who could that be? Who did I know that could be the Spirit Princess?
I do not think I have met anyone who has the aura of a Spirit Princess.
"Who is she?"
"Xavia" she muttered and I blinked.
"Xa-Xavia? How is that even possible?". I waited for her answer but none came. "Mom? Are you still there?"
"Of course I am"
"Can you come in, please?"
"I am not doing that. I only came here to give you this new information. I will get going"
"Mom, you can't leave. You haven't..."
"Get ready. The spell will be lifted soon. You can find out more when you get to the Lycan Pack" she said and I groaned.
"Mom!"
**
I did not listen much at the meeting since I did not know much about what the meeting was all about. Aside from that, I could not stop thinking about what my mom said about Xavia being the Spirit Princess.
She never had the aura of a Spirit, how could she end up as the Spirit Princess? I wondered. My mom must have told me that to make me come to the Lycan Pack.
The meeting ended and everyone began to leave. I waited until there were few people in the meeting hall before walking out too. The first person I noticed when I walked out was Arden. He was talking to a lady. Since she was facing Arden, I did not see her face. I wasn't interested in their discussion and was about to go to the parking lot and wait for Arden when I had him say something about the Spirit Princess.
"Who is the Spirit Princess?" I asked and the lady turned to face me.
I blinked. Xa-Xavia? Isn't this Xavia?
My wolf whined in pain. It had wallowed in sadness, since the day I rejected Xavia, though I never felt remorseful for putting my wolf in such a situation. I also felt the pain of rejection but I was strong enough to overcome it quickly. But though I had rejected her, I could still feel the mate bond slightly.
Maybe that is because she never rejected me back or maybe it's because the rejection has not been for a long time.
I could not stop staring at her. She wasn't the Xavia who came to the Ice Pack some years back nor is she the Xavia who left the Ice Pack some months back. I got lost staring at her. What had happened within a short time to make her change so much?
I could feel her strong aura which I had never felt before.
Sh-she is the Spirit Princess!!!
But how was she able to hide her scent that no one knew about it?
"Xavia?" someone called.
I blinked, breaking the eye contact I had made with her. I turned to see who it was calling her. It was the Lycan King. The look in his eyes was that of love and that made my heart beat fast for the first time.
Could the rumor about something going on between them be real? I wondered. Could they be...
"Axel" Xavia cooed. She ran past me and I had to turn to see who she was running to. Though I knew she was going to meet the Lycan King, I could not bring myself to accept that she was running towards him. "I have missed you" she muttered and I blinked.
He pulled her into a passionate hug and my wolf whined.
"I have missed you too" he replied.
He stared at me and our eyes got locked up for a little while. I could tell he was trying to tell me to stay away from Xavia. I kept staring at him too because I knew seeing Xavia now, I did not think I would want to back off.
She remains my mate. He broke the eye contact and smirked. I knew immediately that he had a plan but I could not say what the plan was.
When he pulled her closer for a kiss, I made to take a step but Arden held me back.
"What are you trying to do?" he asked. "Do you think she still belongs to you?"
I sighed. This is the first time he is speaking to me after Xavia left and all he has to say to me are these?
"Time to go" he muttered pulling me along with him.
I groaned and pulled my hand away from his when we got to the parking lot.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" I asked.
"I should be asking you that. What were you about to do before I dragged you away"
I scoffed. "It's none of your business"
"You had better not have a motive because I will not allow you to carry it out"
"Why are you talking to me? I thought you were ignoring me. Do you now talk to me because it involves Xavia?"
He sighed. "I am going to warn you one more time. Do not try anything stupid. Not only will I not let you go. If anything happens to her you will have both the Lycan Pack and the Spirit clan to face". I brushed my hair backward and groaned slightly. I watched him enter into the car. "Are you not going?" he asked but I ignored him. "I guess you do not. You can find your way back to the Ice Pack," he said driving off.
I punched the air and groaned.
Until I get you, Arden! Until I get you!
**
After my meeting at the Lycan Pack, my mother did not send me back to my room. She also restored my position as the Alpha. I wondered why she did that but I did not dare to ask her because I knew she was still angry with me. Now back in the office, I sent out someone who is not from the Ice Pack as a spy to the Lycan Pack to gather information about Xavia.
I had sent someone outside the Ice Pack to avoid anyone finding out. Arden had been on the lookout since we came back from the Lycan Pack because he thought I was going to hurt Xavia.
But why would I want to do that? Why would I want to hurt someone that I now feel a thing for?Download Novelah App
