Chapter 56 Grandfather Thousand Arms
The whistling sound stopped, along with the footsteps of an old man dressed in black and white stopped. It was that old man who kept looking at Pandan Wangi at the tavern earlier. Grandfather nicknamed Grandfather Thousand Hands. Pandan Wangi looked down as if unable to look at the wrinkled face in front of him.
Grandpa Thousand Hands looked at Pandan Wangi sharply. Then his gaze shifted to Rangga standing beside the girl. Ranga smiled and nodded her head slightly. However, he must respect his parents, even though he doesn't know which group the parents he is currently dealing with are in.
"Pandan Wangi...," Grandfather Thousand Hands voice trembled
called Pandan Wangi.
Pandan Wangi's head slowly lifted up. His eyes stared at the wrinkled old face in front of him.
"Naughty child, always makes parents difficult!" Thousand-armed Grandfather snorted.
"Cake...!" Pandan Wangi's voice caught in his throat.
Pandan Wangi glanced at Rangga beside him. It was clear from the look on his face that Pandan Wangi was very nervous. Rangga, who did not know the problem, shifted slightly away from Pandan Wangi.
"Excuse me, is my presence disturbing?" Rangga's voice sounded polite.
"Hmm, who are you, young man?" asked Grandfather Thousand Arms."He's a friend, Grandpa," Pandan Wangi hastily replied.
"Shut up, Pandan Wangi!" Thousand-armed Grandfather snapped. "I didn't ask you!" Pandan Wangi was silent.
"My name is Rangga," said the warriorThe young man introduced himself.
"Why are you with my granddaughter?"
"Just a coincidence," said Rangga still polite. "Coincidentally Pandan Wangi needs help."
"Bad boy! You always make trouble for people," grunted Grandfather Thousand Arms.
"But, Grandpa…," Pandan Wangi was about to explain, but his voice
stuck in the throat.
"You see! As a result of your actions, Banyu Biru Village has become full of demons and greedy devils. You know what the consequences of your actions are, huh?!"
Pandan Wangi only looked down. Not even a bit open
mouth. Just looking up didn't feel brave anymore. Grandfather Thousand Hands looked very angry at him. To the extent that the wrinkled old face looked tense and red.
"If it's like this, what will you do?" Thousand-armed Grandfather snorted.
"Sorry, Grandpa," Pandan Wangi said weakly.
"Sorry Sorry!" Thousand-armed Grandfather snorted indignantly.
Rangga, who did not know the problem at all, became even more confused. He didn't understand at all what Pandan Wangi and Grandfather Thousand Hands were arguing about. And it seems that Pandan Wangi is very afraid and very obedient to this old grandfather. What's the relationship between the two of them?
"Excuse me, Grandpa. May I know, what is the real problem that is going on? And what is this Grandpa, Pandan Wangi?" Rangga asked politely, without the slightest intention of offending.
Grandpa Thousand Hands looked at Rangga.
"Perhaps my question offends youyour feelings. But, can Grandpa tell you a little," asked Rangga.
"How long have you known Pandan Wangi?" asked Grandfather Thousand Arms.
"Just a few days," answered Rangga.
"What has this brat been saying?"
Without further ado,Rangga told his meeting with Pandan Wangi. Also regarding the Naga Sewu Book and the Naga Geni Sword which are now being sought after and fought over by people from the martial arts circle who think that these objects are already in the hands of Pandan Wangi.
Thousand-armed Grandpa clenched his jaw. His eyes grew sharper looking at Pandan Wangi, who only looked down. Rangga was even more confused, because the Thousand-Handed Grandfather seemed to be getting even angrier. Really dead, he doesn't know what's behind all this. The appearance of the Thousand-Handed Grandpa seemed to bring new problems before the old ones were finished.
"Pandan..., Pandan. When will your attitude change? You're not a snotty child anymore, Pandan... You've grown up and have become a girl
grown up," Grandfather Thousand Hands shook his head. "Forgive Pandan, Grandpa," softly and slowly the Pandan Wangi champion. "Ah, come on! Always that's all you say. Excuse me. Excuse me!
Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, I don't know when else will you throw a tantrum. Well, now what are you going to do? The figures of the martial arts jungle have piled up in Banyu Biru. Are you able to face those whose abilities are above you?"
Pandan Wangi was unable to say anymore. He just ducked like a mouse waiting for fate in the cat's field. Grandpa Thousand Hands approached Rangga. his hand patted the Sakti Rajawali Swordsman's shoulder.
"Thank you, you saved my grandson's life," said Thousand-armed Grandfather. His voice sounded soft.
"You're welcome, Grandpa. It's also just a coincidence, really," said Rangga modestly.
"You know, young man. Pandan Wangi is my own grandson. Both of his parents have died since he was little. I left him with Kakang Abiyasa to educate him to become a strong female warrior. Unfortunately, Kakang Abiyasa died too soon before passing all his knowledge on to Pandan Wangi Since then, Pandan Wangi has lived with me in the headwaters of the Banyu Biru river. But this kid is really naughty, always doing all kinds of things that invite danger."
"Then, what does this have to do with the Sewu Dragon Book?" asked Ranga. "This problem, actually I do not blame Pandan Wangi
fully. It was true that he had saved someone from the hands of the Four Slaughter Devils. But his going to the top of Devil's Hill, it was just a bluff! Especially if he spread rumors that he had managed to find the Naga Sewu Book. Huh! Those people are just stupid. It is impossible for Pandan Wangi to find the Naga Sewu Book without possessing the Naga Geni Sword at once. The two heirlooms are always side by side, inseparable from one another."
"So, the scroll and the sword heirloom still remain at the top of Devil's Hill?" Rangga asked, starting to understand the problem.
"Perhaps, I don't know myself," said the Thousand-armed Grandfather. "The book and the sword did exist and were owned by a hermit. Maybe Pandan Wangi has told you about it."
"Right"
"Well, after the hermit died, the two heirlooms disappeared somewhere. Until now no one knows. It's been a long time since the leaders of the martial arts have been looking for those two objects. However, this would not have happened if it had been a naughty boy this is not spreading fake news!” Grandpa Thousand Hands stared at Pandan Wangi intently.
"I don't think this problem can be solved just like that, Grandpa,"
said Rangga somewhat muttered.
"It's true, I can't help but have to face them. It's impossible for them to just listen to words. They all already believe that the Book of the Dragon Sewu is now in the hands of
Pandan Wangi," Grandfather Thousand Hands seemed to complain.
"We will face it together, Grandpa," said Rangga.Grandpa Tangang Seribu stared at Rangga without understanding.
"I have spread the news that the two objects are still in Devil's Hill. I did this to divert their attention to Pandan Wangi. In fact, I also spread the news that the hill is now controlled by a warrior who is currently studying the book, and master the Dragon Geni Sword."
"Crazy! That Devil's Hill can be destroyed!" Thousand-armed Grandpa was aghast in shock.
"Compelled, to cancel the intention of those who only have
mediocre intelligence. Well, maybe there are only a few people who still intend to find the book. As I calculated, those who stick to their intentions are people of fairly high ability."
"Then, what if they don't find that swordsman of yours?"
"They'll find it, Grandpa!" "Impossible!"
"That swordsman is myself."
"What...? Crazy!"
"It's a crazy plan, but I have calculated all the possibilities carefully."
Thousand-armed Grandpa just shook his head. He couldn't say anything anymore. It's all gone and there's no way it can be taken back. In his heart he admired the courage of this young man who was willing to take danger without regard for his own safety.
"I think you better prepare yourself, young man. Come to my house for a few days," Thousand-armed Grandfather suggested.
"Thank you," said Ganga.
"Don't be shy. Just take this as a token of my thanks for saving my wayward grandson's life!" the Thousand Hand Grandfather glanced at Pandan Wangi again.
"Okay," Rangga sighed after receiving Pandan Wangi's eyes.
"Let usleave before it gets dark."
Three days Rangga stayed at the Thousand Hand Grandpa's house. During that time, he solidified his moves, especially the 'Sword Breaking Soul' and 'Cakra Buana Sukma' skills. Also, Pandan Wangi helped with instructions, so that the girl mastered her moves even more. While Grandfather Thousand Hands always watching
situation in Banyu Biru Village.
Today, since the sun appeared, Rangga and Pandan Wangi have been practicing together. And actually, Rangga gave more strengthening of silat moves for Pandan Wangi. They practice almost half the day. Pandan Wangi looks more stable with his Death Fan style.
"Enough!" shouted Rangga suddenly.
The Sacred Eagle Warrior jumped back two steps. Pandan Wangi closed his magic fan, then they stood together, bowed slightly. Rangga stepped closer to a shady tree, then sat leaning under it. Pandan Wangi followed and sat beside the handsome young man.
"You don't practice with your sword, Brother?" Pandan Wangi asked.
"No," said Ranga, shaking her head. "Why?"
"I don't want to attract people's attention. The Sacred Eagle sword is too dangerous, and I only take it out when needed," Rangga explained.
Pandan Wangi just nodded. He had already seen the prowess of the Sacred Eagle sword when Rangga fought against the Eagle Eye Demon. While crossing the martial arts jungle with Grandmother Abiyasa, it was the first time that Pandan Wangi saw the prestige of a very powerful sword.
"Pandan, frankly I still don't know. Why are you spreading fake news?" Ran seemed to mutter. His eyes looked straight into the girl's eyes.
"Just for fun," said Pandan Wangi casually."Joking...?" Ranga frowned.
"Yes, it's been a long time since I've met the figures of the martial arts jungle. I just want to gather them and see their supernatural powers."
"Crazy! What's the point?"'There isn't any."
"Then why did you do it?"
"I told you, just for fun."
Ranga shook her head. He really didn't understand Pandan Wangi's crazy attitude. Doing work that is just fad, but the consequences are very fatal. Lives are being played with like they have no value at all.
Rangga turned his head when he heard footsteps
Footsteps approached Also Pandan Wangi, he immediately stood up. A Thousand-Handed Grandpa was seen walking quickly towards them. Rangga immediately stood up as Grandpa Thousand Hands almost arrived.
"Things are getting more chaotic. Banyu Biru Village is like an arena for fighting supernatural powers," said Grandfather Thousand Hands.
"Great ...," sighed Pandan Wangi.
"Wonderful, bald you!" Thousand-armed Grandfather snorted. "They kill each other, you know!"
"That's better, Grandpa. That means those who are coming to Devil's Hill have to think twice. At best, those who come are those who feel they are strong," Pandan Wangi said very calmly.
"Humph! You should drain your brain to clean it!" Thousand-armed Grandfather grumbled.
"Wow! Is my brain dirty?"
Rangga smiled as he saw grandfather and grandson arguing with each other. The grumpy grandfather, his granddaughter likes to tease. It's really funwhat if we meet. Kangga like seeing two clowns in action on stage.
Thousand-armed Grandpa continued to grumble. He grabbed her hand and led her away. Rangga glanced at Pandan Wangi who giggled with pleasure because he could tease his grandfather. Grandpa Hands of a Thousand invited Rangga to the bank of the Banyu Biru river, far from where Pandan Wangi was standing under a shady tree.
"What's wrong, Grandpa?" asked Ranga.
“I received news that the Thousand Faced Demon, Flying Knife, Crimson Shadow Demon, Black Steel Staff, and several other profound beasts have reached the slopes of Demon Hill,” said Grandfather Thousand-armed.
"Hm..., so they have forgotten about the Death Fan," muttered Rangga.
“Maybe,” Thousand-armed Grandpa replied also muttering.
"Then it's time for me to head to the top of Devil's Hill." "You have to be careful, Rangga. They are all very powerful and
cruel. In particular, you must be wary of Face Devils
One thousand. He has a spell that can make opponents forget and submit to him. Hm...," Thousand-armed Grandpa looked at the Demonic Swordsman's face. It seemed like someone was worried.
"What's wrong Grandpa? You look like you have something on your mind?" asked Ranga. "Oh, no! I'm just giving you a message, just be careful with Devils
Thousand Faces," said Grandfather Thousand Hands.
"Is hemore knowledgeable than the others?
"No, it's just that he has one feature he doesn't have
by another. The privilege is a mustyou'll see later."
Rangga still didn't understand, but didn't want to ask too many questions. At least this geezer had given him one warning. He would memorize the name of the Thousand Faced Devil. The name that this old man seemed to be very worried about. "You'd better leave later after Pandan Wangi goes to
river," said Grandfather Thousand Hands. "I understand, Grandpa," said Rangga.
"Thank you, they are not Pandan Wangi's opponents. The child is still raw, it still takes a lot of time to go head-to-head in the jungle of martial arts." |
Ranga smiled thinly. This old man looked fierce and grumpy, but really loved his only grandson. Rangga could understand, and did not want to disappoint Grandfather Thousand Hands' hopes. Even though he didn't say it, he could clearly tell from his tone of voice.
Meanwhile the sun continued to creep higher and higher. The light was scorching, refracted glistening on the surface of the Banyu Biru river, like diamonds, sparkling jewels strewn beautifully. Rangga sat on a rock with his feet soaking in the river water after Grandpa Thousand Hands left him. His mind kept focusing on the magical figures of the martial arts jungle who had now reached the slopes of Bukit Setan.
***
The moon is shining full tonight. His silence covered the upper banks of the Banyu Biru River. The light of a small lamp is playing with the cold night breeze. The light that could not illuminate the entire Thousand-armed Grandpa's hut. But quite clearly shadowing a slender figure on the verandah of the hut.
Pandan Wangi looked straight ahead. His eyes did not blink looking at a white dot that was getting more and more lost in the darkness of the night. Visible dots of clear water rolling down her smooth cheeks. Pandan Wangi did not realize that Grandpa Thousand Hands had been standing behind him.
"Kakang Rangga..." Pandan Wangi sighed slowly and softly. "Pandan..." Grandpa Thousand Hands touched his grandson's shoulder.
"Oh!" Pandan Wangi was surprised. Hastily wiped her tears and
turn around
"Are you crying, my granddaughter?" the soft voice of Grandpa Thousand Pandan Wangi Hands only sighed heavily, then stepped back and leaned back
on the porch alley of the little cottage. His eyes returned to stare at the white dot that had disappeared from his sight. Straight eyes
the girl penetrated the darkness of the night.
"What are you crying about, Pandan?" asked Grandpa Thousand Hands, still soft voice.
Pandan Wangi did not answer. Thousand-armed Grandpa let out a long sigh. He really didn't know that Pandan Wangi hadn't slept yet. Earlier he should have detained the departure of the Sacred Eagle Warrior for a moment. The old man could feel what was in the heart of his only grandson. It's only natural for a girl at Pandan Wangi's age to glance at a young man, especially a handsome young man with very high intelligence like the Sacred Eagle Warrior.
"You love her, Pandan?" Thousand-armed Grandpa immediately guessed.
Pandan Wangi was shocked. His eyes looked straight into the eyeballs of the old man in front of him. What a death, and to think that his grandfather could correctly guess his feelings. He really couldn't deceive himself, if his love had flourished during his first meeting with Rangga. It's only the arrogance and instinct of a woman that keeps her from showing, let alone expressing love in front of the young man.
"You are grown up, beautiful and have little provision in life.
I will not forbid. It is natural and should happen to all living things. You should be grateful because in you there is still a fire of love that can grow."
"I..., I don't love him! Who says I'm in love?" Pandan Wangi strongly denied.
"Your lips could say that, but your heart and eyes say another. I was also young and never felt like you are experiencing now."
"I don't love him, Grandpa. He just…," Pandan Wangi couldn't continue his words anymore. His lips were in denial, but his heart said otherwise.
Thousand-armed Grandfather smiled meaningfully. He stepped over and grabbed the girl's shoulder. Then take him for a walk under the light of the night goddess. Pandan Wangi just followed beside his grandfather. He didn't notice when the old man's hand wrapped around his shoulder. In fact, spoiled, the girl put her head on the Thousand-armed Grandpa's shoulder. They walked towards the bank of the Banyu Biru River.
"Your mother and father were a pair of very formidable warriors. In their time they were known as the Blue Banyu Warriors. I love them very much, especially when you were born, Pandan.
It's a pity that the Almighty is quicker to ask before you can recognize the faces of your parents," said Grandpa Tangen Seribu slowly. Pandan Wangi just listened silently. Yes, this has often been told. Banyu Biru is indeed the birthplace of his entire family, including Pandan Wangi. Only Grandpa The Thousand Hands who are always adventurous, exploring the jungle of martial arts. This old man just settled in Banyu Biru after the death of Eyang Abiyasa, his mother's father
Pandan Wangi.
"Now you are the only descendant of my Pandan. I think it's only natural that I hope that you get a husband who can protect you from all kinds of evil in the world," continued Grandpa Thousand Hands.
"Kek..." Pandan Wangi suddenly stopped walking.
Thousand-armed Grandfather also stopped walking! "Leave it alone, Pandan," whispered Grandfather Thousand Hands.
Pandan Wangi stepped back to follow his grandfather. His ears remained sharp to catch other people's footstepslight as if not touching the ground, was following them. And the Thousand-armed Grandfather also knew about it. They were indeed being stalked.
"Watch out, Pandan...!" suddenly Grandfather Thousand Arms shouted loudly. "Hiya...!"
