Forgive
“Have you read the script yet?” Pixie asked while sipping his milktea.
The first day I arrived, he immediately showed me the script to get me ready. He said Latrelle studied that last week after his television series.
“Yup. It’s good,” I sparingly answered while stuffing the bread.
Today is siesta time so I just woke up. Arrow was sound asleep in the guest room while Aria was playing Xbox. She’s teaching Mang Ben so it would not get bored.
“You look exhausted. Why do you seem troubled?” I looked at myself in the small kitchen mirror. I picked it up at the top of the refrigerator.
My eyes were deep and the fatigue was obvious. I just had enough sleep. On the few days I was here, I could not sleep every night.
I think about Cade’s situation. I don’t think I did the right thing that I should have formally said goodbye to him. I think it’s too chaotic.
I rubbed my senses after returning the mirror to where it was placed.
“I’m okay, Pixie. As always. You know I want to do my best when I have a movie.”
He handed me one of the milktea on the opposite table. Maybe some of it were for Aria, Arrow, and Mang Ben. The pizza I ordered was also included.
Some of my housemates haven’t returned yet so there is no cook yet. I have a cook, that’s Aria so I’m not in trouble. I can also clean the house because Mang Ben helps me. Arrow, on the other hand, had nothing else to rely on him but to complain about the materials used in my house.
I often ignore him even though Aria is also troubled by him. Because even small things make it a big deal.
“Milk tea!” it was Aria after yawning in front of me seeing her favorite.
“Letty called, you left your cellphone in my room,” she told me as she pulled up a chair.
I hurried to look at my cellphone.
10 missed calls.
30 messages.
I think I was so deaf that I didn’t hear the ringing tone of my cellphone. This is especially Aria because she has been dead in her sleep lately.
I wasted no more time reading the messages. I closed the door to make sure no one could hear.
“Hello?” he was the first to speak. I even heard the noise of the washing machine. Maybe he was doing laundry.
“How are you? Why did you get called?” I have this feeling that it might be something urgent or maybe I’m just waiting for him to update about Cade.
“Cade is forcing me. What can I tell him?” Her voice was irritated. The loud voices of Abel and Lois were also heard.
Where are they and how happy are they?
“Just tell gim I’m fine.” I want to explain to her but it’s not possible.
“You didn’t say hello after you went home,” her voice growled.
“I’m just thinking a lot. Don’t worry, I’ll get you an autograph,” I pointed out to Latrelle. Letty is an avid fan of that man.
“Just make sure, ha!” she said and the noise of the washing machine ended.
“Of course. Next time, I will include you here.”
She shouted loudly, which Abel immediately followed.
“Hey! Who are you talking to!”
“Nothing! It’s not my boyfriend!” Letty explained.
Even though they are far away, I feel like I can see every reaction of their faces.
“By the way, your Mama is looking for the Romeo and Juliet. She was very angry before and couldn’t talk to your Papa properly.”
Suddenly, my heartbeat became strong. Because I took that book home with the pictures I needed. I was going to find someone and Letty reminded me of that without her realizing it.
“I don’t know where it is, she might just not remember where she put it.”
You’re a liar, Piper. But your acting is good. I knew I could convince her.
“I hope so. It looks like the book is important. Doña Leonora really turned into berserk.”
There’s something fishy that I don’t know which one so I want to know. The girl named Prescilla looks like me. Or, maybe I’m just having an illusion.
“Piper,” with the shaking of my hand, I almost lost my balance. Fortunately, I was able to breathe easily.
Arrow squinted while holding the door lock.
“I’m sorry, I fell asleep earlier. I’ll just get nicer at it. I’ll get back later.”
Even though my blood’s boiling with Arrow, he helps me memorize my script right away. At first he still looked compelled and embarrassed because of Aria’s laughter. Because that woman is really good at teasing, but Mang Ben’s enjoying her company.
He knew that Arrow would not do the thing he was not interested in.
“Come on. Pixie is looking for you. Who are you talking to?”
I looked at my cellphone in shock. I’m sure Letty was listening so she wasn’t speechless from the other line.
“Just a co-artist.”
He nodded as if he wasn’t sure if he would believe me.
“Uh huh? I know you don’t have a close fellow actor.”
I don’t know what’s going on but I really want to end our conversation especially and Letty is waiting.
“I’ll just say goodbye to the person I’m talking to, Arrow. There’s milktea there for you.”
He stared for a few more seconds before leaving. I took a deep breath as I saw him turn away.
“Letty, are you still there?”
The call was on but no one answered. The background is also quiet.
“Letty?” it was as if I had felt something. It’s weird cause something I don’t know gives me chills.
“Love,” his voice was dry. I can’t speak. That husky and sweet voice, I know it’s him.
Suddenly, I want to hug and kiss him.
“I know you can hear me. Even if you don’t say anything, just listen to me.” Something pierced my heart.
I knew he would understand why I did it.
“I love you so much. When you come back, I hope you still love me and the most important thing I can tell you is …”
He breathed heavily.
“I hope you forgive me.”
I could no longer restrain myself.
“Did you do something wrong?” My tears are gathering in my eyes.
“You willl know when you get back here too. It’s not your fault, Piper. But I want you to forgive me.”
“I love you so no matter how heavy it is, I will forgive you.”
My heart is beating fast.
“Even if it has something to do with your family?”
“Your family, Piper… They… They killed my father… The other farmers… The other witnesses… So please, forgive me… “
He took another deep breath.
“Forgive me because I promised my father that I would give them justice. Forgive me.”
“I am ready to fight and imprison your parents. So please, forgive me.”
He apologized for multiple times. I don’t know what I should feel. To rejoice, because justice will be prevailed? Or to be sad because my parents will be imprisoned?
