Epilogue - Goodbye, I love you

[ Jameson's Point of View ]
I'm standing right in front of Bella's grave. I placed the bouquet of red roses, and tears started to fall from my eyes.
"It's been a year, darling," I mumbled even if she couldn't hear me. I sat on the grass and looked at her, seven feet below me.
"Do you remember? Today is our first wedding anniversary." Tears continued flowing. I can't help but think about her.
Her beauty.
Her smile.
Her boldness.
I miss her so much.
"And tomorrow is your death anniversary. Also, Calcifer's first birthday," I added, stammering.
I can't believe everything happened a year ago. The excruciating agony inside my heart and soul is still there.
"Bella," I cried.
Why did you have to die? Why?
Bella might not be the kindest person I know, but she was my lifeline.
And now, she's gone.
The only woman I loved.
The only woman I tamed.
"Jameson." I turned around and heard a familiar voice.
"Janice, what are you doing here?" I asked.
She started crying, holding a bouquet of orange tulips in her right hand.
"Bella!" she bawled and knelt beside me.
Through the months that passed, Janice was in a great state of depression. I can't imagine the pain she feels when two important persons in her life just vanish.
I patted her back as she kept crying. "You will always be Bella's best friend," I said, trying to comfort her.
"I am?"
I smiled and replied, "Let me correct that. I'm Bella's best friend. You go second."
She chortled a bit and finally calmed down.
"Bella was a really great student and friend, and it hurts me. It hurts me because I felt like all her hard work fell into oblivion. It hurts me because I didn't know what she was going through. I'm such a useless friend," she said, her voice faint.
I just nodded my head and bit my lip to keep me from crying even more.
"You know, Jameson, she always talks about you when we're together. I loved listening to Bella speak because everything she said made sense. She's very clever and compassionate deep within. One time, she told me she was a psychopath, and she killed people. But, when I saw her eyes while looking at her younger brother, Richard, it emits a sense of love and longingness." Janice wiped the tears on her face as she pulled the petals from the orange tulips.
"Bella is a psychopath, but she's probably the best psychopath friend I had. Well, I haven't had a psychopath friend, but she's just more special compared to sane people. She loves you so much, Jameson. I'm a psychiatrist, I know. She only found true happiness in you."
Suddenly, tears flowed like a river from my eyes again.
"I love her so much too. Thank you, Janice. Bella is proud of you for finally graduating," I said and covered my face with my hands.
Bella's life was so precious, but she chose to sacrifice her life for our son, Calcifer.
All because of love.
That's the power of love. To sacrifice one's life for the person they love.
...
/ Two years later /
"Aunt Janice! Uncle Ivan!"
Calcifer is now three years old and a naughty little boy.
"Calcifer, don't run too much!" I calmly spoke to him as he ran towards Janice and Ivan.
Janice and Ivan got married last month, and now, Janice is finally pregnant with their first child.
I can't help but be proud of them. I'm sure Bella, too, is happy for both of them.
"Papa!" Calcifer waved his hands at me as he was being carried by Ivan.
I waved back at him and smiled ear to ear while grilling the barbeques.
Calcifer has sapphire blue eyes, like a Siberian husky. Calcifer is also an outgoing kid and smiles whenever he sees people. Thankfully, he didn't end up being a psychopath.
Just kidding.
Although, he looks more like Bella. He also got Bella's intelligence and meticulousness.
Today, I decided to throw a simple celebration because I got promoted as a general in the marines.
Bella and Calcifer have always been my inspiration, and I will do everything for my son.
"Hi, Jameson." I turned around to see who spoke.
"Oh. Hi, Niana," I greeted back and wiped my hands filled with charcoal from grilling.
"Are you okay? You seem to be thinking of a lot of things," she said and looked at me with concern.
"Don't worry, Niana. I'm fine. Just, you know, constantly missing my wife."
Niana was a good friend back at the orphanage. She was friendly to the other kids as well.
Just because of her jealousy, she changed.
But she's happily married now.
"You really love her so much, huh?" she asked and smiled.
I nodded.
"Well, the same with Bella. When we were in middle school and high school, every time I opened a topic about you, she would act like she didn't care at all. But I'm not blind. I know deep inside her that she misses you."
All these stories I hear about Bella make me miss her even more.
"You and Bella are really meant for each other. Fate must be so cruel to take her from you very soon. Well, I guess fate has always been Bella's rival since she was young." Niana sighed and laughed.
"I was so selfish towards her. I wish we could've spent more time together as a family. But it was too late. I can't believe she even forgave me for everything I've done. So, Jameson, spend time with Calcifer and make the most out of those opportunities given to you," she added and tapped my shoulder.
"And also, I'm sorry for what I did to you before. By the way, congratulations on your promotion. Bella is so proud of you." Niana walked away and went to her husband.
I continued grilling the barbeques, and I felt tiny hands on my butt.
I chuckled. "Calcifer, what do you want from papa?" I asked and carried him in my arms.
If it weren't only for his eyes, he really looks like Bella.
Calcifer is such a beautiful boy. He could probably pull all genders.
"Papa, can I have a younger sister?" he asked.
That made me smile even more as I realized that Calcifer would only be my child.
"Calcifer, your mama is gone. To have a younger sibling, papa and mama must be together," I explained.
He looked at me with a confused face and said, "Then marry another woman."
That made me laugh. I gently pinched his cheek and replied, "I can't do that. Even if mama is dead, papa loves mama so much. That's why papa won't marry another woman."
He just nodded his head.
I tried my best to tell him about his mom at a young age, that Bella died because she loves Calcifer and wanted him to live.
Calcifer isn't like any other kids. He understood every single thing I said and took it by heart.
Bella, your kid is just like you.
...
As soon as the celebration ended, I went inside Calcifer's room to check if he was already asleep. He is in his crib, sleeping cutely.
"I love you," I whispered and kissed his forehead.
Calcifer is just all I have now.
I went to my room and stretched my arms. This day was a long exhausting day.
As I opened the door of my room, I saw a familiar figure sitting on my bed.
I froze at the doorway and stared at the person.
"Bella," I cried.
She looked at me and smiled like an angel as she opened her arms. I immediately ran to her and hugged her.
"Bella, you're-"
"Shh."
She stopped me from speaking and stood up. She went to my secret closet and opened it. It is where my gun is placed.
I just followed her and stared at the gun.
"What do-"
She stopped me again from speaking as she kissed me.
Damn, I miss her so much.
I kissed her back while tears were flowing out of my eyes.
I miss you.
I miss you.
I love you.
We stopped kissing a minute after. She looked at me and held my face.
"I love you, Jameson."
I tried to hug her, but she vanished away.
Instead of crying, I smiled, realizing that Bella would always be by my side. She even reassured her love for me.
Which brought me back to the day when she first told me that at the giant library. She fell asleep on my shoulders and suddenly muttered, "I love you." I was so flustered that time, even if I wasn't sure if that was meant for me.
She loves me more than I could probably know.
By the way, was she talking about the gun a while back? I smiled.
"You're still the same psychopath I met, aren't you?" I muttered as I unlocked the secret compartment and saw my rifle.
I've never seen this rifle in years. I kept it here because I was supposed to give Bella to grant her wish back when we graduated high school.
Apparently, she wanted a gun.
I grabbed the rifle, and a blue paper fell on my foot.
Perplexed, I picked it up and opened it. I gasped as I realized it was a note from Bella years ago.
Dear Jameson,
Hi, my darling. The moment you are reading this, I'm probably dead. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about my condition. I already accepted my fate because I want our baby to live. I wonder if our baby is a boy or a girl, but please, love our baby until the end. And also, tell our baby every day that her mother loves her so much.
I'm so sorry for being such a brat during the past years because I really am a brat. You were the only person who understood me since we were kids and loving you was the best decision I've made so far. I'm very grateful, and I owe a lot to you, my love.
My life has been a mess, and you were my sunshine. You were my lifeline. You were the rainbow I looked forward to after every rain. You were why I am ultimately happy in this miserable life I have.
Jameson, words can't express how much I am gratefully, madly in love with you. Crazy, isn't it? It took me too long to realize I was in love with you.
Thank you, Jameson, for loving me and teaching a psychopath like me to love.
Congratulations, you tamed the psychopath.
Just remember, I will always be with you.
Until then, please stay in love with me even afterlife because I will love you until the end.
Goodbye, I love you.
From your psycho darling, Belladonna.

!! SHORT SPECIAL CHAPTER !!
[ Calcifer's Point of View ]
Hi, I am Calcifer Salvador Abalos. A five-year-old kid who loves painting, eating, playing, dancing, EVERYTHING!
I'm currently painting a portrait of my mom right now. Papa said she died while giving birth to me, and I really love my mama even if I haven't seen her personally.
Because love is felt by the heart and not seen by the eyes.
I love my parents so much.
But papa just got mad at me a while back because my girl classmate kissed me at daycare.
I swear, I didn't want her.
Maybe papa got jealous because he's single. So, I'm painting a portrait of mom.
Colors make the world so beautiful, and if I could paint colors on every dull, monotonous life of people, I will.
I wish I could paint my mom's life when she was alive.
I remember very tiny details about mom when I was inside her womb. She sang me a lullaby, and I hum it almost every day. She also tells me that she loves me every second she gets.
I finished the touch and finally painted mom on a canvas. She looks so beautiful.
I must admit, at my age, I am pretty much advanced compared to the other kids. Next year, I'll take an exam and be promoted to third grade.
Isn't that amazing? I'll graduate from elementary immediately. I can tease the other kids and act haughtily.
But dad won't want me to be arrogant, so I'll be humble.
"Papa!" I shouted as I heard him enter the entrance door. I carried my canvas and ran to him.
"Look, it's mom," I said. Papa smiled at me and took the canvas. He stared at it for minutes, and his eyes formed tears.
Papa's eyes are blue, so if he cries, his eyes are like diamonds.
Just like mine.
"You really look like your mom," papa said and kissed my forehead.
Thank goodness he forgot about the annoying girl at daycare.
"By the way, did you say sorry to the girl you just smooched?"
Uh-oh.
"Papa! I told you I didn't kiss her! She kissed me all of a sudden!"
Papa carried me in his arms and brushed his nose on my nose.
"I also loved kissing your mom. I guess you got my genes."
What?!
...
Papa cuddled me for hours, and now, I feel so exhausted. I went out of his room, scowling.
As soon as I opened the door of my room, I went and jumped on my bed and snuggled myself.
"Hi, Calcifer." I heard a voice from a woman. It was warm and soothing. I looked at her, and she looked like my mom.
Is she my mom?
She smiled at me and walked towards me.
"Mama?"
She hugged me, and I hugged her back. I cried my eyes because this was the first time I saw her face to face.
"Oh, Calcifer. What a boy you are," she said and kissed my forehead.
"Mama? Why can I see your soul? Aren't you dead?"
She suddenly laughed and pulled me towards her.
"You look like me, except for the eyes," she said, looking directly at my eyes.
I blinked multiple times as I stared at her. Man, my mom is so beautiful. Papa doesn't deserve this beauty.
After that, mama smiled again and kissed the tip of my nose.
"I will always be with you, Calcifer."

Author's Note:
The kids who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways. - Russell Barkley -
Happy new year, everyone! Thank you for partaking in this story! I'm incredibly grateful. I love you all!
This novel will always be a big part of me because it's the first novel I actually finished. I hope you got lessons from this story!
Writing this was very challenging as thriller and crime is a genre that requires a meticulous mind. */Pats my head/
I'm so proud of Bella, and she will always have a special part in the chambers of my heart.
We all deserve to love and to be loved.
Once again, thank you.
