Chapter 21 The Search In Joseph's Home

The principal ran after Dominic and the rest. He met them just after they had stepped out of the building. "Please give me a minute of your time", he requested of them.
They turned to see who it was. "What's the problem?", Mr Donald asked calmly but curiously.
"We don't have time to waste", Dominic scorned at the principal. Mr Donald instructed him to quit being rude with a gesture of raising the hand.
"Tell us what you want to tell us", Mr Donald permitted the principal, "But be straightforward", he emphasized after noticing Dominic's unhappy face.
"I'll like to help you guys with this case", he said.
"When you're a suspect?", Mr Donald gazed at him with surprise.
"He lied to me the school was taking a tour at the national park", Dominic pointed at him rudely.
"That's what I was told. Mr Joseph lied to me", the principal got fed up of always explaining himself.
"But we can't let you assist us in this case. Thanks a lot though", Rita replied vaguely.
"It's fine. But if there's any help I could render in the nearest future, like relay some information, I'd be happy to help", he smiled.
Mr Donald sighed;"Once the time comes, we'll let you know." The three of them went away, leaving him alone right outside the building.
"I wish you guys the very best", he waved, raising his voice so he could be heard. They continued ambulating towards the gate, not saying anything to him in return.

In the woods, all the students gathered just outside the building under Joseph's orders.  They were murmuring amongst themselves about who must have murdered that boy. Ben and Tricia however, were with the SS1 boy they met last night, not close with the rest.
"What's your name by the way?", Ben asked him.
     "My name's Mark", he replied.
"Mr Joseph wants to address everyone again, accusing one of us of killing that boy", said Tricia.
"Just that no one would want to believe their beloved Mr Joseph would ever do this, what's difficult in telling them the truth?", Ben shrugged.
"My parents advised me not to be part of this tour and now we're all in a mess", said Mark, feeling anxious.
"Don't know how he managed to find some network, I overheard his phone conversation this morning.
"What did you hear?", Ben asked eagerly. Mark paid attention to what she had to say.
"It was quite difficult to understand", she squeezed her face, "But he said something about abandoning us but not completely abandoning us if I can remember", she said, counting her words. The boys did not get any meaning from what she said.
"He wants to abandon us but not completely?", Mark stared at her in confusion.
"That's what he said. He invited the person to come over today so, that's the person I'm waiting for", she replied.
Ben sighted Mr Joseph going out of the building while he carried the corpse. "Mr Joseph is out!", he alerted the rest. They immediately went to join the rest of the students.
Mr Joseph laid the body gently on the ground to have a word with the students. "Another person amongst us is dead. I think I'm going to devise a tighter means of security", he said to them angrily, "How can a fellow student do this to an innocent that left home just to have fun in a tour", he raised his voice.
Ben, Mark and Tricia glimpsed at each other. "This man is such a devil", Tricia said inwardly, watching him in amazement.
"I'm going to go keep him somewhere nearby. Because of what is going on here, we're leaving this place tomorrow", he announced to everyone, lifting the body up.
"But what about his family? Won't they like to see if he really is dead?", a sad little girl questioned him.
"When we're going, we'll take the body along, including the driver", he responded. He turned away, walking towards the deep thick forest while every student went about their own business.
"I don't believe we'll be going tomorrow as he said. We need to get proof and show it to everyone so we could all run away from here", Tricia whispered to Ben in the ear.

Mr Joseph carried the body to the exact place he tossed down the driver's body last night. Just like he did last night, he tossed the body down the cliff and it landed hard on the ground.
"Second person gone", he wore a satisfactory smile.
His close friend, also in the same cult group he was, drove into where he stood almost immediately. "I came as early as I could", he said. He turned off the engine.
"You came right on time", Joseph felt happy. He briskly opened the door and hopped into the car. "Let's get out of here quickly, I've got unfinished business", he said with urgency. The driver soon turned on the engine and they drove off.

Joseph's gateman opened the gate and was surprised to see Dominic and Rita. "You brought another person", he said to them, gazing at Donald weirdly.
"We've come to search this house", Dominic kept a stern looking face.
"But you can't search this house unless...", he blocked the way but was interrupted.
Rita showed him a paper. "A search warrant right?", she stared at him comically. The gateman left the way after confirming it was indeed a search warrant. Three of them went into the compound and he locked up the gate.
The first place they wanted searching was Joseph's bedroom. They were led by a servant of Joseph. "This is the room", he showed it to them.
"We'd like to search inside", Dominic requested.
"I can't", he stammered, "This room has only been opened once since he left and that was because we needed to tidy up his room. That was why he entrusted the key to me but warned it shouldn't be opened again until he comes back", he refused.
Dominic looked downwards, bored with the long talk. "Haven't you heard in the news he's been missing with some students? This is a life-and-death situation so please, for the sake of those innocent children, let us do the necessary things we have to", Rita begged him.
"My sister is among them. How would you feel if yours was among?", Dominic showed his frustration.
"Please open the door", Mr Donald requested. The servant gave in to their request and sighed. He eventually unlocked the door and opened it for them to go in. He stood by the door to be sure they do not do anything stupid.
Dominic searched the ornamental, cosmetic and deodorant drawer, Rita searched the bed and below, Mr Donald searched the big shoe rack.
"You're going to make the bed untidy", the servant said to Rita.
"If I do, I promise to dress it back", she responded. She diligently searched beneath the bed covers, behind the bed and under the bed itself. She neatly dressed the bed back to how it was. She was done searching the bed but found nothing.
Dominic was still searching the drawer carefully so he would not miss anything important and also so he would not destroy any of Joseph's stuffs. Mr Donald also took his time in searching the shoe rack.
Rita went to the wardrobe to check it out. She opened it, beholding clothes that were neatly arranged, some hanged in hangers and the rest neatly folded in various compartments. She pushed the hanged clothes aside, some to the left and the rest to the right. She saw something that was extremely horrifying - a dead boy that was laid in the wardrobe on a flat smooth wooden plane. She yelled very loudly, falling to the floor and moving away from the wardrobe.
"What did you see?", worried Dominic left what he was doing to go find out himself. Mr Donald and also, the servant ran to the wardrobe to know what she had just seen.
They could not believe seeing a dead boy in the wardrobe, Mr Donald gasped in astonishment. The servant did not even know how to react to such a thing.
"Did you know about this?", Dominic probed him.
"No! I never knew. Mr Joseph wouldn't let us touch that wardrobe", he shivered in shock.
"Mr Joseph has been using a dead body to produce money", Dominic said in a low tone. Rita got up and looked at the body once more, she felt disgusted and terrified. Mr Donald spotted a strange looking book on top of the wardrobe. He slowly brought it down and looked at it.
"What book is this?", he showed it to everyone. Dominic took it from him and opened it. The demonic images and weird writings made him realize he was holding a book of the black arts.
"Is that what I think it is?", Rita asked, knowing already quite well what she saw.
"This is a book of black magic", Dominic said to Mr Donald.
"I never knew about this", the servant claimed his innocence.
"This book may likely be useful to us in this case", Dominic said to everyone.
