Chapter 15

“I want to try rock climbing first. That would be a good warm-up.”
Kaizer could only tag along and let her decide. Luckily he wore casual clothes after hearing her say ‘fun activities’.
They first went rock climbing. Kaizer was shocked that she was good at that activity. She keeps up with his speed and even has great technique.
“Wow, I really enjoyed it.”
“I can really see it in your face.”
Lauren looks away for a moment and when she looks back at Kaizer her eyes are sparkling.
“I know what we will do next.”
“What?”
Lauren pointed at the back of Kaizer. He turned around.
“Look up.” He followed what she said. He saw the long water slides. “It’s the best isn’t it?” she said like a child who was excited to buy the toy she wants.
Kaizer could only shake his head. It looks like it would be a long day for him. Lauren was so energetic that he didn’t know if he could be a match for it. Looks like those sweets have an effect on her.

.
.
It was a chilly afternoon that day. Amara decided to go to the living room after making some pastries.
She found her mother watching a telenovela. During that time in the afternoon, her mother loves to watch drama and she didn’t miss a single day watching those dramas. She really kept track of that drama.
But it looks like she made a mistake by going to the living room. She thinks it would be better if she just stayed in her room.
Amara kept rolling her eyes ever since she arrived in the living room. It's because Emily started to complain about her brother as soon as she sat on the couch.
She understands that her brother is already twenty-eight years old, but he is too busy managing the company and has no plans to settle down.
That’s why, here she was… listening to her mother worrying about her brother like he was just a 5-year-old kid.
“Mom, can you please sit? I’m getting dizzy because of you.”
Even though Emily is watching a drama, she still has time to walk back and forth in front of Amara. All she wanted for that afternoon was a good snack. She felt hungrier because of what her mother was doing.
Emily stopped for a moment to look at her daughter. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, then continued her ramble while walking back and forth. Amara irritatingly stopped what she was doing. She annoyingly put back the food on the plate.
“Why do you think Kaizer didn't come home? It's been days.” Emily nervously asks.
“He’s busy dealing with companies' matters.”
“But the one I know working at the company, told me that he didn’t even go to the company.”
“Mom, you know that he’s not handling one company, but several of them. There are different businesses he needs to handle and on top of that, there are other branches inside and outside the country. So for you to stop worrying like that, I will directly call his secretary.”
Amara dialed a number on her phone. It belonged to Kaizer’s secretary at the main branch of their company.
After several rings, finally it connected.
~~~~~
Amara: “Good afternoon, Evelyn, did I interrupt your work?”
~~~~~
Evelyn: “Ah, no Miss Amara. Did you need something?”
~~~~~
Amara: “I know brother might have ordered you to keep quiet about his schedules. But I really need to know right now, or else both of us will never be at peace with my mother. You know her.”
Amara noticed that her mother stopped walking and looked fiercely at her. If she’s not talking to someone right now, for sure Emily already hit her.
The other line went silent. Only the sound of the aircon and typing on the keyboard could be heard.
~~~~~
Amara: “Please Evelyn, I promise you will not be in trouble because of this. I will explain it to my brother.”
~~~~~
Evelyn could only sigh before answering Amara’s questions.
Evelyn: “Sir Kaizer isn’t here at the moment. He is currently on a business trip.”
~~~~~
Amara: “Then, when will he be coming back?”
~~~~~
Evelyn: “Sorry Miss Amara, but I cannot give you additional information. That is what Sir ordered and we only comply.”
~~~~~
Amara: “I understand. Thank you for answering my call.”
After their conversation, Amara hang-up the call. At least she answered the call. If it was another person, for sure they wouldn’t tell what Kaizer was doing or where he is right now. He strictly ordered his employees not to tell other people his schedule, especially his mother, unless he permitted them to.
Kaizer seems to be wary after his mother followed him several times on his business trips. And not only that, every time Emily visits him, she always brought up the topic of blind date or marriage in their conversation.
“What did his secretary say?”
“He was on a business trip.”
“When is your older brother coming back?”
“You knew that his business trips take weeks and even months.”
“But he never informed me this time.”
“Brother doesn't really inform us when he goes on business trips.” Amara corrects her mother.
“Then, what if he’s sick? Who’s gonna take care of him? The one who will look after him?.”
Amara thinks that she might have a mental breakdown at any moment. Surely her mother won’t stop asking such questions about her older brother. But, she will still choose the current situation. If the time will come that her older brother will marry, surely the attention would shift to her and she will be the one receiving and hearing all those nonsense talks about blind dates and marriage.
She’s only 23 years old! She still has lots of plans for her single life.
“You’re worrying for nothing Mom. He has doctors with him that he can call anytime. And even if there’s an emergency regarding him, he would inform us immediately, on the other hand, his assistant might be the one who will inform us.”
“Well, you are right about that.”
Amara sighed in relief when she saw her mother calm down and sit on the sofa. Emily was silent for a moment.
“But, what if—”
Amara immediately cut her off before she could start talking about those matters again. Her head hurts, this time it isn’t the snacks that she needs… but sleep. She badly wants to sleep.
Even though she’s still not feeling well and afraid to go out. She also doesn't want to live and hear those complaints about her brother every single time. And since it was because of her brother, once she met Kaizer, she would annoy him greatly. But of course, she will be a good sister first after she calls his secretary and gets some info about him.
Amara is still thinking about who is a great match for her brother. If she finds the perfect girl for him, then it is the time she will find a way to match-make the two. Isn't that a great idea? First, she needs to gather a list of single ladies she knows.
“Mom, save it. Alright, I will make a trip to his house every day so he won’t have time to avoid me the moment he’s back from the business trip. Therefore, you can relax now and I can sleep. I will excuse myself first. Have a great time watching dramas, Mom!”
Amara leaves quickly. She even bumped into her father at the staircase.
“Oh, hello there, Dad.”
“Hello, sweetie. Does something happen? You seem to be in a hurry.”
“Ah, it’s nothing. I’m just sleepy, that's why I want to go back to my room to sleep.”
Daniel nodded. “I see. Sleep well.”
Daniel warmly smiled at his daughter. Amara took a few steps when she halted and turned to face his father.
“Anyway, good luck Dad!”
Daniel furrows his brow. He didn’t know why Amara said that. He thinks something happened and it’s not because she’s sleepy, that makes his daughter in a hurry.
He could only watch her figure walking in a hurry. All those questions were answered after he sat beside his wife. He seriously regrets going downstairs. Daniel thinks that he will get a headache from their conversation rather than working on the company documents.
