ALORA EMBRY
There are a few knights that accompany me to the port, we traveled for two days straight and when we arrive we are welcomed by Ryker. The situation here was not worse than I expected.
"I greet the Lady of Astley. I receive a letter from the palace that you will arrive four days ago. What took you long?"
"I go to the church first and see Leticia."
"I see."
"Can you tell me what is the current situation?"
"Yes. As you can see the battleships were still at that distance and we've been monitoring them for a week but they still haven't made a move. They've been like that since last week."
He guided me to the barracks and there I saw his brothers and some knights that were resting. The knights there greet me and I nod to them. When I look at Ryker he pointed the battleships that were not moving.
"As you can see we have no battleships at all, there is a huge difference and we notice that some of them were sorcerers."
This is one of our biggest problems, there are only a few sorcerers in Dormer, and even though Wren is just a small kingdom they have a huge number of a sorcerer on their side. We must outwit them so I can head towards the borders.
"Did you already come up with a plan?" I asked him and he nods his head.
"We plan to send some experience knights to dive in the sea, and when they already reach near the battleships they will send a signal and by that, we will attack. And when everything was already busy the knights we sent will infiltrate the ships and put bombs."
"And what is the chance that your plan will execute smoothly? This was a risky plan."
"Yes, we know that there is a chance that the knights might stumble into some enemies, they might also die there but we need to do something. Surely that the enemies were also planning to move when they saw a good chance. So, we need to move first, it's now or never." I look at Damien, based on his voice he is sure hostile towards me. There is already a war going on right now but he still hasn't forgotten his hatred toward our families.
Why do you two have the same name and personality? Damien Eyron and Damien Alaric Haa, I want to hit both of them.
"When are you planning to send the knights?"
"I already sent them we are just waiting for their signal." The heck. I look at him unbelievably and sat down. I notice some knights looking at me and when I look at them they instantly avoid my stares.
"You said that you went to the capital first."
"Yes."
"And the sword beside you, it's His Highness's sword, right? Did you meet him?" he just continues to stare at the sword and when I opened my mouth he looks at me.
"No, Leticia gave this to me. She told me that the Crown Prince gave this sword to her before he lost his consciousness."
"Did the Saintess tell you what is the condition of the Crown Prince?" I look at him and stare for a moment. He is not the type of person to be concerned about the condition of others, but is he worried about the Imperial Highness?
"The Crown Prince was in critical condition and the sorcerers can only do is to stop the black magic from spreading to his body."
"I see." He take a look at the sword for a second and left the barracks without saying anything to me. When Ryker finally left, Matteo approach me and told me to rest, he pointed the bed and give me a blanket.
"Thank you."
"Don't worry I will look for you so rest peacefully."
"Yes." I go to the small bed and sighed. I turned my back to them and hug the sword. Maybe because of the fatigue I feel, I immediately fell asleep.
I do not know how long I am asleep but Matteo woke me up so we can eat dinner. The sun already set down and the stars started to show up.
"Here."
"Thanks." The knights were circled and eating silently in front of the fire. From afar I can hear the crackling fire woods, the sighs of the knights, the harsh waves, am I being paranoid? Why is it too peaceful?
"Do you not like the food?" I stare at Matteo and shake my head.
"It's delicious."
"This is not your first time right? On the cold battlefield don't know when will the enemy attack, always on alert..." I nod my head and continue eating.
"You just need to be focused we will taste the victory in the end."
"Yeah... When you are done eating you can wash your body in that house. There is a clean water there but the thing is the water is cold. If you like I can ask the knights to heat the water for you."
"It's not the time to worry about that."
"Right." He laugh and he handed me a cup of water to me. If he does that the knights will surely talk about how spoiled I am. We are in the middle of a war it does not matter if I use cold or hot water. "Thank you for getting along with my brother. I am worried about him; I know you notice that Frederick was sometimes soft. Brother Leo even told him that he was acting not like an Eyron."
"He was good. Your brother was right Sir Frederick was not fit for Eyron but I know one thing that it is one of his charms."
"Yes, that was indeed right My Lady."
I was undeniably getting paranoid because I feel like someone was watching us. I can't disregard this unpleasant feeling.
"When you see him can you pass this message to him?"
"Yes, what is it?"
"That he should take care." I nod and he smiled.
"You should also take care of yourself he will be sad if you got hurt."
"Yes, Thank you."
"Sir Matteo, get your sword."
"Why?"
"Can't you feel it, it's like someone is watching to us." He shrugs and I don't know why I suddenly act without thinking, I heard Ryker shout at me when I fire an arrow towards the sea. And there I saw beasts swarming they almost reach the shore; the knights instantly get their swords and kill the sea beasts.
"Be alert! Make sure that you are fighting the beasts in a group!"
And while we are busy killing the sea beasts' knights from Wren started to attack us and they do keep coming. Damn, they make the first move. While they are busy attacking our knights I told Matteo to cover me while I go on top of the rocks there.
I was aiming for the battleships so, I put a lot of pressure and strength while targeting the enemies and I was surprised when some of the battleships was exploded. I think the knights they sent were successful in planting the bombs. And by that, I help our side and killed the sorcerers. Maybe one of them was the one who put the spell on the Crown Prince.
"Lady Alora continues to target the ships It must take down first!"
"Yes!" I can hear them shouting, the ships that still approaching and shooting the shore. They just continue shooting even though their people got hurt by their attacks.
Even though the ship was already burning and was on the verge of collapsing they continue to shoot us, so I target the Wren people that were on the ship.
We continue to strike down each until daylight until I finally take down all the battleships. I take a rest first and when I turned around I saw Damien and Matteo protecting me.
"Can you still fight?"
"Yes, I just need a rest," Matteo asked me and I nod. Damien then look at me and I was surprised by what he said.
"Take your time."
But I don't think I still have time for that, because the moment I sat down one man suddenly shouted retreat.
"KNIGHTS OF WREN WE MUST RETREAT!!"
"Bastards."
"RETREAT!"
"EVERYONE STOP THEM!" Ryker shouted; I was aiming for the knights that were retreating but the mage from Wren made a barrier on every soldier they have. I was annoyed because I can't break the barrier they made.
"No one must fall behind!" I cursed when they teleported and was now finally out of our sight.
"They're gone, Haa."
I sat on the ground and sighed. I suddenly feel the tiredness, I think I suddenly forced my body on using my magic. Then my body suddenly goes numb.
"Damn, what a bad luck."
"Lady Alora what happened?" I look at Damien and sighed. Glad he notice that I'm not alright.
"My body went numb."
"Pardon me for touching you," Matteo said and carries, when I was already on the barrack I saw the three mages who were busy on treating the wounded knights.
"I need a mage to look for Lady Alora." When he already put me down, it was hard but I shake my head.
"Let them treat the knights first, for a moment I'll just take a rest."
"Are you sure?"
"Hm."
I close my eyes and fall asleep when I woke up I can again move my body but I still feel tired.
"My Lady." I look at Matteo he was sitting on a chair beside my bed. "Your already awake, thank goodness." He sighed in relief and check my pulse.
"Where is the mage who checked me?"
"Ah, I will call her."
"Thank you." When I look around there is a white cloth that was separating my bed from others, when I stand up to get some water the knights that were resting there were looking at me with surprised faces.
"It's nice that your already awake, I thought you were already dead," Ryker said and I almost rolled my eyes while the knights awkwardly avert their eyes.
"And why did you say that? That was not a good joke."
"Joke you say? You were not breathing for almost 6 hours. Are you sure you are alive and not dead?"
"Such a joke, My Lord that was a last please."
"Hope that you have a good explanation on that."
"Of course." He look at me with a serious face and made a sighed at last.
"I see, just ask for food if you feel hungry Matteo will bring some."
"Okay."
"Now if you'd like to get back on your bed again." I didn't protest and just do what he said, I can tell that they were being uncomfortable with me because of that. When the mage finally arrive, she check my body once again.
"So?"
"A-Ah, your mana was depleted that is why your body went numb. Plus, the fact that you forcibly sorry you suddenly wield magic after the restraints that were put on you made your body drop and need to rest for exactly 24 hours. And this is the first time I saw someone stop breathing for 6 hours we really thought you're already dead!" the mage said that in the fastest way she can and that made my head hurt.
"Did you follow what she said, My Lady?"
"Yes. And please calm down, I won't eat you and I'm still alive." She nodded and fixed her eyeglasses.
"Then if my speculation were right there is a dragon blood in you? There is a study that dragons can stop their heart so that their body can heal faster, well that was possible after all the Embrys are the ones who killed the last dragon. Maybe you drink the dragon's blood? No, maybe it was passed to you? That's the only answer that was possible in your scenario."
