In the C.A.N.D.Y's lab the next day, the fighters gathered in the main room, waiting for their Head to enter into the room and give them the information he asked them to come for.
"Can't wait for our next mission and I hope it's outside the country", said Nick, feeling so excited. He felt their boss was bringing them a new mission.
"Seems you've already forgotten what we passed through recently", Amelia gazed at him.
"But that's why we'd rest a little bit longer before another mission comes up", moaned Amelia.
"Let's relax", Yanking giggled, "You don't even know if he's going to prank us like he did yesterday."
"Like seriously, what did he do that for?", Dahlia felt annoyed after remembering it.
"I can feel how yesterday was like. We looked so stupid yesterday", said Carlos, leaning in his chair.
"People, especially the children laughed at us", said Amelia.
"Let's just wait patiently and find out what he has to say to us", Nick gestured for them to stay quiet.
Almost immediately, their boss and Smith, their scientist walked into the room. The C.A.N.D.Y fighters got up immediately as an act of reverence. They all greeted their boss and he responded to them. He gestured for them to have their seats. Smith hurriedly brought a chair for him to sit on, before getting one for himself and sat beside the boss.
The boss heaved a really heavy sigh, taking his time before he began to say something. "Mr Carter, the head of the SHC just gave me an update on how missions will be accomplished from now on", he said.
What he said raised up the curiousness in everyone. "How are the missions gonna be accomplished Sir?", asked Nick.
"Like something different from we", Yanking referred to themselves, "accomplishing all the missions or something?", he asked, staring at the boss intently. Everyone awaited eagerly for his explanation.
"The plan before of you guys, the C.A.N.D.Y fighters being the only people accomplishing all the missions has been abolished", he revealed, much to their astonishment.
"What?!", Carlos exclaimed, looking at his friends and hoping he heard the wrong thing.
"But Mr Carter promised us that we'll be the only ones solving every single missions", Amelia got baffled.
"But Sir, who are the other people that will be accomplishing some of the missions?", inquired Dahlia.
The boss gave a reply to Dahlia's question. "More and more Super Creatures will be formed so that the missions will be less burdensome for every Super Creature", he said. The C.A.N.D.Y fighters did not like the idea a single bit.
"Less burdensome? We never complained about them", Dahlia looked annoyed.
"Like we'll be sharing missions even here in the United States?", asked surprised Yanking. The rest gave their own complaints, creating a noisy atmosphere.
"Please stop complaining. Mr Carter has a really good reason behind this change of plan", Smith raised his voice so he could be heard, "Thank you very much", he said after everywhere became calm.
"I too feel Mr Carter made a good decision though I felt somehow when I got the news, mostly because of the way you guys are reacting now", said the boss.
"I wonder the reason he gave. Something reasonable indeed", Yanking said ironically.
"Imagine going round the world - only you guys - for every single mission that comes up", the boss gestured.
"Our C.A.N.D.Y watches can teleport us to anywhere we want to go to", Carlos replied, looking at everyone in surprise.
"Oh I know that!", the boss scorned at him, "But do you guys think you'll have any time for yourselves?", he asked them.
The C.A.N.D.Y fighters thought about the question critically. They were beginning to see something commendable behind the reason of making them not the only Super Creatures.
"Now you guys get why the initial plan was changed right?", asked Smith.
"I think they have already understood the reason behind the decision", the boss gave a faint knowing smile.
"Then how are the tasks going to be shared?", questioned Nick.
"Well for now you guys are the only superheroes", the boss began, "but the time travel system has informed the SHC the next super villain will be in China so the SHC have begun with the necessary preparations to create a new Super Creature that will base in China and stop that villain from wrecking much havoc", he said.
"So gradually, every country will have a Super Creature if they all have super villains?", Dahlia got startled.
"Well", the boss shrugged off his shoulders, "Probably. But you know not every country's gonna have a villain", he said, "And even if all do, I think focusing on just one country would be better so you all could focus on other important aspects of your life."
"So are they gonna be like us?", asked Amelia, "I mean a group of friends like us?", she explained her question.
"No!", the boss shook his head, "It's only going to be one per country now", he answered. The clique could not believe what they had just heard.
"How are they going to cope?", asked Nick, "I mean, five of us were like a match to the one villain we just managed to defeat."
"I think you guys should be rest assured that the Head of SHC knows what he's doing", said the boss.
"But they are gonna have exactly our powers? Same watches and the rest?", inquired Carlos.
"Mr Carter said he's looking for diversity in every Super Creature, except for you guys where five of you are seen as one", Smith answered.
"Then you sure they won't be way stronger than we are? Because it's only gonna be one Super Creature per country from now on", Nick suggested to the boss.
"They can't defeat us. We have watches that can make us do anything we want", Carlos replied sharply.
"Pride goes before a fall", mumbled the boss.
"But Sir, think about it", Amelia struck a thinking pose, "What can't we do with our watches?", she asked with a proud smile.
"You guys can't shapeshift", the boss frowned at her.
"Oh", she reacted, "But anyways, I'm very sure we'll be way stronger", she giggled.
"Just imagine you guys without the C.A.N.D.Y watches", the boss said to them, "How do you think you guys would be? The strongest?", he said sarcastically. The fighters kept quiet, not knowing what to say in defence.
Smith chuckled at their silence. "Now you guys have realized your powers are gotten from the watches", he giggled, "And guess what Mr Carter informed the whole SHC. He said he wants the next super creatures not to be dependent on devices for strength. He wants the powers to be put inside of them", he said.
"So how then will their powers be taken away from them? When the power is in them?", the boss smiled cunningly.
"How would the rest know our strengths come from our watches?", argued Carlos, not willing to throw in the towel.
"Why won't they know when they keep on seeing you guys always operating on your watches for almost every action you wanna take?", the boss simpered.
Smith began to fear an argument way more serious was going to erupt and decided to intervene to make things better. "No one's saying you guys ain't strong, I mean you guys are super strong", he cheered them, "Don't just belittle any other super creature that will be brought up to help mankind just as you guys are already doing perfectly", he advised them in the form of a request.
"And if your pay is what you guys are worried about, Mr Carter promised me the pay won't be reduced by even a cent and it remains an hourly payment", said the boss.
"He even promised to increase the pay after five months and payment would be after every 45 minutes", Smith revealed.
The C.A.N.D.Y fighters gaped at him, their moods brightened up. "Payment every 45 minutes in a larger amount for only watching over one country?", Nick got happy. The boss nodded his head in agreement to what Smith had revealed to them.
The five fighters were extremely happy. "The kind of news I want to hear more often from now on!", Dahlia exclaimed.
The boss and Smith stared at them surprisingly in amazement. "So you guys weren't really bothered about not being the only Super Creatures", gestured the boss, "You guys felt the money would be reduced right?", he gazed at them intently.
The C.A.N.D.Y fighters became suddenly quiet, knowing the boss had actually figured out their reason for complaint. Some of them bent down their heads, wearing sheepish smiles.
The boss overlooked it and brought up another topic concerning school. "School's resuming in the next few days right?", he asked. The fighters all concurred.
"Just hoping we won't face such a villain as we just did during school session", said Nick.
"So why do you think you're C.A.N.D.Y fighters?", Smith chuckled, "Only stopping thieves that try to rob a bank?"
"Well...helping the police...yeah?", Carlos shrugged.
"You know we don't call up you guys for every single crime right?", asked the boss, expecting an obvious reply.
"While attending to one, there are a lot more crimes taking place at the same time", said Dahlia, who got a thumbs up from the boss for the good response.
"You guys are only called when we feel it's necessary", the boss referred to himself and Smith, "for you guys to intervene, especially when we feel the police may be easily thrashed aside."
"So you guys are aware of every crime that's committed in this city?", asked Amelia as she gasped.
"No!", the boss shook his head, "Only serious crimes which you guys ain't called to stop all the time, so we could let the police do their job", he answered.
"And remember, you guys are to make sure that America is safe generally. But at the same time, teleport only to other parts if the crimes are very grievous", said Smith, emphasizing on the last two words.
"We're okay with the change of plans", Amelia spoke dramatically, "Right guys?", she asked her friends who agreed with her.
"Because you guys pay won't be reduced?", the boss gazed at them. The fighters and Smith giggled over what he said.
"We're a lot happier saving the world than the pay", grinned Dahlia.
"I see", the boss replied vaguely, nodding his head.
