The knock on the door baffled him, he stood up and walked slowly to the door to see who it was and he met her staring at her. The two stared hard at each other for a while before she finally spoke.
“She told me, you got a new apartment, are you leaving because of me?” She asked him and he sighed.
“I think it is for the best.” He replied.

“I am sorry.” She said.
“You didn’t do anything Yusrah, you didn’t, I am glad you both are getting all the help that you need, that is all that matters, I might not even be able to do this much if things works out between us in the first place.” He said to her.
“I don’t want you to get overwhelmed taking care of us and I believe you also have your life to live as well, perhaps if I had not pass through what I have, perhaps I might have just accept your proposal very fast than you can imagine but I am not really the person you thought I am.” She said to him and he swallowed hard and relaxed his back on the door that was opened while she stood in front of him at the entrance door.
“What is it that I don’t know…. I don’t really care about the past Yusrah, I really do not because it does not matter.” He said to her.
“Are you sure… you aren’t aware of anything.” She said to him.
“I am sure, Allah would not give us a trial more than we can bare.” He said to her.
“Not even If I had been pregnant out of wedlock?” She asked him and he sighed.
“It does not matter, as long as you have seek istighfar from Allah. It really does not matter.” He said to her.
“But for now, I must leave, I don’t want to cause any further confusion that we are presently in.” He said and there were tears in her eyes.
“I wish you all the best in your exams and I wish to see you in the university one day.” He said to her.
“And incase if you or Yasmina need my help of any kind, you both know how to get me.” He said to him and she sighed.
“So, you are still going to leave?” She asked him and he nodded.
“Alright, thanks for all you do… and perhaps we will meet again and before then, I will strive to better ins sha Allah.” She said to him and he nodded.
She left his door entrance and he closed the door to his room.
One thing is clear, he has done the right thing, he want nothing but the best for them.

“What do you think?” She asked him as he looked through her report card, it was the first term report card and she had managed to perform a little bit above average.
“You know this is barely above average?” He said to her and she nodded slowly. He could see disappointment on her face.
“But I am sure you can do better, next term.” He said to her and she nodded.
“Ins sha Allah.” She promised.
“So, I will not be available for some weeks, I want to travel and thus I will pay your fees to the school account for the next term and also send in your allowance to your sister account.” He said to her.
“Where are you going?” She asked him.
“I am going to India.” He said to her.
“India? That is out of the country.” She said and he nodded.
“Are you going there for a visit?” She asked further, it was no news that she is inquisitive.
“Yes, I am going there for medical checkup. I do that yearly, I will be away for four weeks ins sha Allah.” He said to her.
“Hmmm,” She said nodding.
“I am a sickle cell patient.” He said told her as if reading her mind.
“SS?” She asked him
“Yes.” He said looking at her and she nodded, now she understand why he use walking cane for some time.
“You don’t look sickly?” She said to him.
“Have you ever seen one before?” He asked her and she nodded.
“My best friend Chioma was one. She was a friend from JSS 1 to JSS3, she do fall sick all the time. She died at fourteen.” She said sadly.
“Oh, that is sad.” He said.
“That means your Parents are both carriers?” She asked him and he looked at her with surprise.
“Oh… Oh… I cant believe someone know that much.” He said .
“Do you have any of your siblings with the same medical condition?” She asked further and he shook his head.
“I am the only one.” He said to her.
“Oh… you seem so healthy.” She said to him.
“Alihamdulilah.” He said.
“I am sorry for stressing you sometimes, if only I had known…” She said sadly.
“No, it is nothing, where is the stress?” He said.
“Anyways, how about you start an evening lesson too, just like your sister? Now that Ismail is no longer at the house.” He asked her.
“No, I am thinking of attending the Evening Islamic class.” She said to him.
“I have wanted to tell you that.” She said to him and he nodded.
“Ma sha Allah.” He said to him.
“Is there is any registration required?” He asked her.
“No…” She said to him.
“Okay, that is great. Yusrah told me you still have enough and if you need anything urgently, you can call Idris. He will sort it out ins sha Allah.” He said and she laughed.
“Come on Uncle, it is not like you would not come back.” She said and her heart missed a beat at the thought.
Of course he will be fine.
He sighed and the thought of being dead one day and leaving her scared.
“You will be fine Ins sha Allah.” He heard her said.
“The flight is 7a.m tomorrow.” He said to her and she nodded after which he started the car and drove her home.
