Chapter 22 ------ Jack ----- As I saw Stella head downstairs with Steva. I felt very proud of her. I couldn't help but admire Stella more. I realized that she's one in a million. She's very special and unique. Despite everyone's protests, she went upstairs to do save her Best friend. Ex I guess. She was aware of the danger but she still did. I watched how she along with the Rescue team carried Steva and placed her on the stretcher. I could see the relief in her eyes. How Caring and loving. I have to admit that I had already fallen in love with her but I wasn't able to come to terms with it until now. I admire Stella for her courage and confidence. I knew just how much she cared for Steva. How she often helped the latter in secret. How she never gave up on Steva and how she continued to Love her despite all. I haven't seen love as great as this. Friends like Stella are one in a million. Friends who could do just anything for their friends. Friends who are ever Caring and loving. Friends who often wished you well no matter the circumstances. I then saw Stella looking back at the building, I followed her gaze and saw that she was staring at the studio. It wasn't that hard to guess what she was thinking. Thankfully she managed to save Steva just in time or wouldn't want to imagine what would have happened. The firefighters got to the business of trying to extinguish the fire that had spread so quickly. I saw Stella Walking towards me. She hadn't taken more than two steps when I saw a large brick falling from up. I was about to alert her but it was too late. As the brick fell and hit her at the back of her head. I saw her lose consciousness and fall to the ground. Blood gushed out from the back of her head. I was completely rooted to the spot. As a science Student, I knew what was going on. I felt my heart clench. It felt like my heart was been ripped off my chest. It felt like I was the injured one. I heard screams all around me but I just couldn't move. Soon the voices began to grow lower and lower, my vision also began to get dim. The last thing I heard was the scream of a student " Senior Jack! " **** ----- Jack ----- The next time I woke up. I realized that I was in the hospital from the color of the walls and the smell of disinfectant. I tried to stand up but was stopped when I heard the voice of a nurse. " Hey you are awake! Don't try to get up yet as you ate still weak. " " Water. " I whispered and I watched how she efficiently poured water for me from the dispenser. I took the cup from her and drank the water it in with her assistance. " How long was I out? " I ask her. " Two hours. " She smiled. " Where.... " " Oh my God! Jack baby! You scared Me! " My mom's high-pitched voice rang all of a sudden in the room interrupting me. She walked towards my bedside and held my hands. " How are you feeling now, Jack? " She asked softly. " I am fine now, Mom. " I replied with a forced smile. " That's good, I was so worried. " She said. Soon, some medical doctors came in and checked my body. They confirmed that I was fine now but I just needed to rest for a few more hours. " Umm... Ma'am. Can you please vacate the room now as the patient needs to rest? " The nurse told my mom. " Alright. " My mom Replied, then she said to me. " You can rest now, I'll be in the reception. " " Okay, Mom. " I said. She nodded before proceeding to give me a peck on the forehead before going out. The nurse left me alone too after confirming that I was comfortable. Now that I was alone, I could still feel my heartache. I could still visualize the scene where Stella fainted right before my eyes. Perhaps due to exhaustion but I soon fell back asleep. *** ---- Steva ---- Slowly but steadily I opened my eyes and frowned immediately I got aware of my surroundings. I got to know of the existence of the oxygen mask on my nose which feels a little uncomfortable. There was a needle in my hands where the IV drip was connected. What's going on? How did I get here? What happened to me? Then it all started coming back to me. How I planned to talk to Stella. Me decided to complete my painting of a schoolgirl. How Stella suddenly appeared in the studio What she said. The fire. The smoke. Wait, what! I remember losing consciousness when we were descending the staircase. So who brought me here? Stella? The school? How long was I out? I had a lot of questions in my mind but no one to ask. My throat felt very sore and my chest hurts. What's happening to me? Why am I feeling this tired and exhausted? Just then, the door opened and a Lady in a Nurse uniform walked in. When she saw me, she was very Suprised. She then smiled before exclaiming. " Oh my! You are awake! " I nodded as I couldn't even speak. My throat was completely dry and hurts a whole lot. " Wait a sec, let me go get the doctor. " She informed me and soon disappeared from the room but soon appeared with Three doctors and a nurse. Wait, but I thought she said she was going to get a doctor so why are they three then? Anyways. The doctors approached me and each took turns checking my body. " It's such a miracle that she's alright. " One of the doctors Exclaimed. " Yeah, we thought she was going to wake up three days later but who knew. " The other said. " She's pretty tough. " The third one said. I just watched them. I wanted to ask them a lot of questions. How long was I out? Where's my family and so on. But well... As if knowing what's on my mind. " You were out for three days. " The nurse said to me. And I was shocked. Three days??? Three whole days?? That's 72hours!!! " I guess we should make a call to her parents now, they've been very worried about her ever since. " One doctor told the other. " That's true. Let me the go-ahead to call her mom. " The other said and the rest nodded. " Umm... Nurse Victoria you can stay with her to watch her, we'll be in our offices. Do make sure to inform us if you need anything. " " Alright, Doctor. " The nurse said with a smile. When they left. " You know, it's a miracle that you are awake now. The doctors thought it would take a week or a month for you to regain consciousness but they were wrong. You are a fighter. " She said. I just nodded, I was starting to feel very uncomfortable with the oxygen mask. As if noticing my discomfort, The nurse said softly. " Another test would be carried out later on and then it'll be decided whether the mask has to be removed or not. " Okay. " You should rest now. " She urged and as if she had magic in her tongue. I began to feel sleepy all of a sudden and soon fell asleep.
