Chapter 36 Green Dragon Mamba
Lexa sharply turned to Elliot like he had committed a great sin. She stood up and stepped back, fearing for the worst to come.
"P-poisoned? By-by who?!"
Elliot held her hand and placed her on the bench with minimal struggle. He noticed that when she was worried or her thoughts were scattered, she couldn't use her powers to the maximum.
That explained how the nurses could move her away so easily. She still needed training.
'Calm down, Alexa.'
"Who would want to poison her?! Why?! She's already dying and yet she was... I'm gonna sue this hospital!" She turned her focus to the passing nurses and doctors, as well as the hospital itself. "How did my mother get poisoned?! Someone answer me!"
Elliot had to drag her out of the hallway and into an unused room in the hospital but that didn't stop her from continually screaming. He placed her hand over her mouth and wouldn't stop unless she promised to.
The colour of her green eyes had turned black. For a devil, he was terrified to see that. But the matter on ground didn't give him the opportunity to point it out.
"What poisoned her Elliot? Tell me! Tell me!"
She crashed to the floor, crying as if she had already gotten bad news. He didn't know how to make her feel better cause all he had ever done in his life was make people feel worse.
He carried her up, looking into her dark swollen tear filled eyes and her yet beautiful but glamorous face.
"The doctor said she'll be fine." Elliot lied. He didn't know what else to do. If he said otherwise, she'd only get worse.
Lexa cleaned her tears and gradually, her eyes turned green. "Really? Are you sure Elliot?"
Lying had never been so hard for him in his entire reign. "Yes."
She heaved a sigh of relief and embraced him.
The hug was more like a slap on his face. He felt an uncomfortable and regretting feeling he couldn't understand. He couldn't explain it.
'It's guilt, you moron! This will only put you in trouble, I'm telling you."
Elliot didn't pay heed to Lot but hugged her back, rubbing her head.
Minutes later they came out of the empty ward and went back to the hallways to their former positions on the bench. Lexa was half sure that her mother would be okay, like Elliot said, but the other half was saying the opposite.
And the other half was louder. Way louder.
Lexa wanted to pray but she felt guilty doing it because Elliot was there. Still, she couldn't find it in her heart to forsake her creator. She hoped a day would never come where she had to choose between them.
Elliot's heart was beating hard, not fast, hard and his heart felt heavy like stone. He hated the guilt he was feeling but he couldn't help it. The only wish he had was that Kimberly would recover.
If she didn't recover... Elliot turned to Lexa who was still shaken up about the matter, all hell will let loose.

Kimberly's POV
I didn't know what they thought they were doing. I was just smiling as I saw them trying to bring me back. I wouldn't go back even if I wanted to. I was feeling amazing.
Doctors were an amazing set of people. They don't give up until their patient's last breath.
I heaved a sigh, my last breath and separated myself from my body. My body was a good friend. I thought it was my whole life but the soul is the whole life
I felt graceful and full of joy. All the pain, sorrow, sadness, hate... I felt in my old body was gone. I could walk well now without the help of anybody. I could even jump and dance. No one would want to go back to their bodies after feeling that way.
I could see my light. It was waiting for me. It knew I wanted to come and I would, but I wanted to see someone one last time.
I moved into the walls of the ward, like I was nothing. Everything seemed the same except no one noticed me or could see me. That was expected.
I searched the ward cause I knew she would be here and... Alas, I found her.
All I wanted to do at that moment was hug her and tell her not to cry, that everything was okay. I wanted to tell her that I was going to a better place. I also wanted to tell her how it happened to me.
The venom was no ordinary poison. Even the most powerful and wickedest person couldn't survive it. I knew she prepared it just for me. I knew something like that would happen but I never thought it would be her.
'Flashback'
I was coughing again and it was hurting my throat but I didn't want to call the nurse. It happened all the time and I figured there was no use prolonging my death.
The only reason I decided to keep myself alive was because of Lexa. If I died, she'd be heartbroken. So it was only for her.
I coughed into a cup beside me and wanted to call the nurse because I couldn't stand it longer when the nurse came in like she had read my mind.
I was relieved but what she did surprised me. She didn't seem to be concerned that I was nearly coughing my intestines out. She instead picked an injection from a metal tray on the other table in the room and was putting some green fluid from a small bottle into it.
She tapped the injection and checked the measurement, then walked up to me.
I found myself water to clear the cough but... I didn't know why the nurse didn't pay attention to me and what the green liquid was.
"Nurse, what's happening?"
She simply smiled and injected the fluid into my drip bag. I got a shock. As a destiner, it was a common thing but this time I saw myself. And it was not a good thing.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath preparing for it. My end was near and this woman would cause it. I thought the cancer would kill me first but I guess I was meant to die sooner.
I didn't fight. I accepted my fate. I had to do it for Lexa's brighter future but... I wanted to know who my killer was before I left. Even though I couldn't do anything to add or subtract from it.
I stayed only for her but it was time to go.
"What poison is it?"
The woman didn't look surprised at my calm reaction. "It was hard to find green-dragon mamba's venom. But I had to do it for you."
Then I saw something else, it was more shocking than my death. "Who are you?"
She took the injection when she was done and broke into pieces with her hands. She sat on the bed beside me, giving me the nicest but deadliest smile. She placed her hand on my hand. Her smile was there but her eyes were sad.
"I'm sorry I have to do this, old friend."
Instantly, I knew who my murderer was. "No need hiding anymore. Let me see your face for the last time."
The nurse turned her neck and quickly she transformed to the 'old friend' in a puff of black smoke.
I was astonished, all the years I knew I never thought she was not human. She wore a black long net dress with the symbol of a coven embedded on its back. She had thick black lipstick on and many body piercings.
I shook my head in disbelief. I could have never thought that... "Rica? I have to say that I'm surprised."
She stood up and circled the room, examining it like it was her duty. "You let him have her. You don't support me, that's why I have to do this."
I snickered. "I'm still shocked that you're the evil one. And you can speak normally. You are full of surprises."
"Why did you let him have her?!" she screamed, hitting the table loudly in anger.
"She is better off with him," I answered sharply. "You of all people know that."
She shook her head and her fingers at me. "No! Lexa is holy! She's an angel. She cannot be with him."
"But how does that matter to you? You knew her before I did and you should know that nothing can separate them."
"We'll see about that," she said, laughing hysterically. "A witch's curse is powerful!"
"There's love between them, Rica. How will you stop that?"
I could now feel the venom attacking the blood cells in my body. It was painless but uncomfortable. My pulse was slowing down but I held on to life to find out more about Rica's plan. I wouldn't die in peace without it.
"Don't underestimate me, Kimberly!" Then she looked at me in pity, remembering I was dying. "If you didn't support him, I wouldn't have to do this."
My voice was clogged but I managed to say something else. "Remember this Rica." I cleared my throat for the last time as I tried to catch my losing breath which was going fast. "Love conquers all."
'Flashback over'
I looked at her, wondering how she was feeling. She had hung her head down and covered her eyes like she was protecting them from deadly rays of light. Elliot was beside her, supporting her with his presence.
I know that he truly did love her but life had a lot in store for them. Rica was just one of them. A lot of challenges were coming their way and only they could face and conquer them.
I closed my eyes and placed my palms against each other, praying that they would win it all. I walked up to her and held her head, kissing it deeply.
She couldn't feel it but I could. I gave her all the blessings of a mother. That was all I needed to leave. I looked to my right and there my white light stood.
I took two steps towards it, and looked to Lexa for the last time. 'My beautiful daughter, all shall be well with you.' I walked up to the light, closed my eyes and entered it.
Leaving the world as a destiner forever. But I would be reborn, in another time far away from this time. In a new and better world.

The tension was growing every second and Lexa was feeling her mother's presence around her. She didn't move from her position or acted like she felt it, afraid that the feeling would disappear.
She was scared and safe. Scared that her mother's soul was out but safe that it was with her at the moment. Then like the summer breeze, it left and was gone... forever?
Lexa rose her head in fear and at the exact time, the light of the operation room turned red and the doctor came out.
Elliot stood up first while Lexa followed behind, hesitantly. Her heart was gripped in fear. Her vision, and all her other senses had deactivated because all her focus was on her ears.
Words were powerful, now she knew. If the words were negative, Lexa knew she wouldn't be able to handle it and she prayed with all her mind that it would be a positive reply.
"Doc, how is Kimberly?" Elliot asked, but it feel like Lexa's words.
She couldn't crack the answer from the doctor's face because he was neutral. She didn't even want to.
Lexa held Elliot's black shirt tightly. She had a feeling that she would need the support. Elliot wrapped his hands around her while they waited for his reply.
Lexa braced herself for the answer. 'No more stalling,' she thought. She had to know.
"Tell us doctor."
Everything went silent, her heartbeat increased and her ears started ringing until the doctor let out his three first words.
"We lost her." There was a pause but Lexa didn't react until he finished. "She was poisoned by a powerful and rare snake venom. We don't know how it got into her system because we found no bite marks, and we assume that someone injected it into her drip but no one was seen entering the ward." The doctor realized he was giving too much detail that the two didn't need at the time. "We will find the culprit but I'm sorry Miss Halton. Mr Vile."
The doctor walked away. Lexa dropped, still holding Elliot's cloth. He acted fast and carried her in his arms.
"Lexa, L-Lexa..."
"She's gone."
Was all she said before she lost consciousness right there in Elliot's hand. Elliot's heart pounded and Lot roared angrily in him.
