Chapter 18 Alex felt uncomfortable and turned around. He could hear someone breathing behind him; he was being followed. Smirking, he continued. Hidden in a store behind the school, Thomas Becker stood with an ambushed person. Davis peeped through a crack in the wall and frowned in confusion. He could see Alex throw a bag that he recognised as the same one he found him with days ago; a bag of money. The ambushed girl shook her tied body, mumbling through her gag and struggling to see through her blindfold. Davis needed no other proof that his son was a rebel. He just could not still believe he could kill his own sister. Alex turned to Thomas, "They've brought the money, you can release her now." Thomas eyed the bag and untied their victim, before freeing her gag and blindfold. Davis gasped, "Oh my God!" This girl was Andy, Andrew's younger sister. His son was not just a rebel, he was a thug. When Andy panted, catching her breath slowly on the floor, Alex squatted and clutched her jaw, "You can blame your brother for this." Andy groaned, spitting on his face and scoffing hatefully, "I hate you Alexander." Alex smirked and wiped his face, "Or, I can give you a dessert before releasing you." He pushed her down and forced her buttons open. His father was tired of hiding now. Grabbing his gun, he stepped out of his cover, aiming at his son, "Let her go." Alex turned slowly and unexpectedly smiled as he sighted his father, "I can swear I knew it was you." Standing up, he walked fearlessly to his father, "You should not be here." The cop creased his forehead, "So you are really this kind of a person huh? Angus was right. You killed your sister you imbecile." Alex bit his lip, "Wanna hear something else? I also killed Ashley Thomas and Jennifer Fisher. Well, I was behind it. And I am also behind the recent robberies and abductions here in Houston. How about that?" Davis lowered his gun in pain, "You... You disgust me. I swore to Angus you would never do that. But, here you are..." Patting his father's shoulder,Alex grinned, "I was just being fair. I deal with anyone who poses a threat to me. From a pathetic street rag... To my very own sister." Thomas aimed a gun at the cop, "Should we take care of him or he walks away quietly?" Davis chuckled, "Yeah. How stupid am I. I'm a cop for goodness sake!" Punching his son, he clutched Thomas, "Get out of here Andy. Now!" Andy got up quickly, shivering in fear. Reluctantly, she stopped, "What about you?" Davis spat, "I said go!" Letting go of Thomas, he seized his gun and aimed it at the two males. After he saw Andy leave, he faced them, "You are both going to jail. Alex! I'm ashamed of you. Whatsoever would your sister do to you that you'd kill her?" Alex clenched his jaw, "And whatsoever did Angus do to you that you put him through all that for an accusation that turned out to be wrong? You went so far for something you were not sure of." When he saw the agony in his father's eyes, he continued, "You are in this with us dad. You are a cop but you went as far as blackmail, abduction and violence just to get the stupid, selfish justice you were looking for." Swallowing the bitter truth, Davis lowered the gun. His son pushed on, "You are in this too." Engulfed in his aura of regret, Davis was oblivious of Alex's motive. Thomas hit his head with the back of a rifle so hard he fell unconscious. Eyeing the path Andy had run out through, Alex frowned, "Tie the geezer up. He brought this upon himself." * * * Daniella stamped her feet angrily when she heard Andrew's decision, "Why?!" Andrew gazed at her and answered, "As a matter of fact, if you are going anwhere, you need protection. That's why he's going with you." Daniella turned and eyed Matthew Kelenny who gave her his usual grey smile, "I'd take good care of her Andrew." Andrew glowered at Matthew now, "I'm only asking you to do this because I am busy right now. But if you..." "C'mon. Don't you trust me, " Matthew winked. Andrew closed the door in frustration as he watched them leave the yard. He has something to do. Walking up to the fridge, he retrieved two bottles of juice. Shutting the door of his room, he handed one bottle to Janet who was on the computer, "Found anything?" Janet sighed as her fingers moved, "These phootages from the police are not clear enough. Or maybe, this guy is too secretive. But here's one thing. Alex hired this guy to kill Ashley. If he was a normal thug, Alex could have hired any other person for the other jobs and the dude would not need to hide his face." Andrew continued, "That explains why they say he's dear to me. I know him. Maybe that's why." Janet looked up at him, "Do you really doubt anyone who is dear to you. Anyone at all, any name?" Andrew knew one but shook the thought off and gave a negative. Studying the pictures of vague camera phootages taken at the time of the murder, she frowned. She found a gathering of males leaving the scene, "Hey. Check these guys out." Bending over, he looked into the screen. The males were walking from a building he recognised as Abao's residence. He recognised Alex, Thomas, Pain and Night and some others with guns. But one of them attracted his attention. He had a mask in his hand as he used the other to arrange his hair, as though he just took off the mask. He recognised the smooth, black hair, the square shoulders, the height and his steps, "I swear I have seen that guy somewhere." She nodded, "I know. That explains the fact you know him. He's dear to you." Andrew forced a smile and planted a kiss on her cheek, "Thanks." He tried to remember the figure. He knew him. But where? * * * Daniella walked out of the mall with Matthew carrying the bags. Adjusting them, he frowned, "Why are girls so strange?" Smiling, Dani faced him, "You mean by buying a bunch of stuff to take care of themselves?" Matthew rolled his eyes, "Yeah. Put it that way." Grinning, she swayed her head to her left, sigting two very familiar people,"Hey are those two not familiar?" Turning to the direction she pointed at, he laughed, "You mean Cruise and Blaze. Yes they are." She frowned. The one she thought to be Cruise was paying the man who drove the cab, his leg in a plaster and another plaster on his forehead. Blaze however, had a piece of cloth in his hand which he held up to his nose often, to clean off the blood spilling from it. He had a bleeding nose, bruises all over him. That was strange and different from how they were the other day. What...happened? Suddenly, they sighted her and Matthew and turned away, avoiding them. Matthew just laughed again. Dani just frowned in confusion and thought. Then, she smirked. They harassed her one day, are seen broken another. There was only one explanation.
