“So, show me the bathroom.” “Oh! Come, follow me. It’s really beautiful and huge. It seemed like lots of people could take shower together.” said Kaien as he opened the door to the bathroom for Allen. “This is the bathroom. Look at the bathtub. Can you believe it?” asked Kaien with a dazzling smile while they were in the bathroom. The bathroom was in the middle between Kaien and Allen’s bedroom and the size was the same size as their bedroom, not a normal bathroom in a normal house. It was so huge, like a public bathroom even though it was a private bathroom. It can only be reached from inside the bedroom – from Kaien’s bedroom or Allen’s bedroom.
“Come. Look at my bedroom,” offered Kaien. He gestured to Allen to follow him and opened another bathroom’s door that led to his room. “Isn’t it beautiful?” “Yes! Really beautiful. Yours look like a king’s bedroom,” complimented Allen. “It really suits you. Hehehe. . .” “Thank you. Hehe. . .” said Kaien. He blushed, a smile on his face. “You’ve got to see the Great Hall. There’s so many carvings. It’s everywhere.” “Yup! Yup! I know! I saw it along the way to my room earlier,” exclaimed Allen, jumping a few times excitedly. “Should we go to see it again together?” “Yeah. Sure. Let’s go,” Kaien led the way and Allen followed him like a little puppy. They went through the hallway that connected the main hall to their bedroom. They enjoyed their walk slowly and looked at all the sculptures and statues there until they reached the main hall where the main door and another few doors were. Kaien and Allen stood still and stared at the main door. Allen stared with fear on his face while Kaien showed an expressionless face. Kaien did not realize the main door was full of carving when he walked in through that door. Most importantly, he could believe he just came in through that door. The main entrance’s door was carved with two full skeleton figures on the upper part, one on both sides of the doors. The skeleton figures each one carrying a large scythe that crosses from one door to another door. The skeleton figures were surrounded by lots of human faces that show suffering, struggling and painful expressions. Most of them were children’s faces. “That’s scary. I don’t like it,” whispered Allen in fear. He came closer to Kaien as he was asking for protection but Kaien did not move a bit. He seemed lost. “The Gate of Hell. . .” Kaien whispered slowly, almost not being heard at all. “Kaien?” Allen’s voice seemed to have awakened Kaien from his dream. He looked at Allen and looked back at the doors. “What’s wrong?” asked Allen. “You said something just now.” “Oh nothing. . . Nothing. . . It’s just. . .” mumbled Kaien. “It’s just not hell. . .”
“What? What’s it, Kaien?” asked Allen, confused. “I think it's not just hell. See, the children there, they are trying to reach for heaven,” explained Kaien and pointed to the child’s face. “But they couldn’t, because their souls are trapped.” “W-w. . .W-wut. . . W-what?” asked Allen. He hesitated, studying Kaien’s face with a puzzled expression. “How did you know that?” “I. . . I don’t know. . . They are demons. . .” Kaien walked slowly to the doors and touched the carved on the lower part of the doors. “. . . who can hold on to your soul as long as they want.” “W-what? De. . . de. . . De-mon?” said Allen, stuttering. “B-but. . .But. . . Why children?” “Because they make a beautiful sound at night,” replied a voice from behind them. Kaien and Allen turned around and stared at the voice’s owner, too shocked to speak. “Oh, it’s you, Dominique.” Kaien snapped back to his sense. “How long have you been standing there?” “Just a moment. I come to inform you that dinner is ready,” said Dominique. “You are invited to the dining hall now.” “You shouldn’t do that!” yelled Allen. “You could give us heart-attack! I don’t want to die young!” “Everyone will die. You don’t have to worry about it,” said Dominique, calm. “Yah! How could you say that? You-!” protested Allen. “Allen, calm down,” comforted Kaien. “Nothing wrong with what Dom said, but it’s not right either. So, calm down, ok?” “Hurm. . . Ok. I’m sorry,” mumbled Allen. “I apologize for bothering you,” apologized Dominique. “I’ll show you where’s dining hall is. Please follow me.” “It’s ok Dom. Thank you,” snapped Kaien. “We still want to look around. We will go there in a few minutes.” “If you said so. . . then, the dining hall is on the west side. If you go through that door, through the hallway, the first door on the left side will lead you to the dining hall,” explained Dominique and pointed at another door on the left side of the main hall. “Don’t be late. I’ll take my leave now.”
“Sure,” said Kaien and Allen in unison. As Dominique’s figure disappeared through one of the doors in the main hall, Kaien turned his back and looked at the main door with interest again. “I don’t really like him,” mumbled Allen but Kaien did not say anything. He turned and looked at Kaien. “Kaien, did you study art?” asked Allen as he found that Kaien seemed so interested in the door. “No. No. Haha. . . I’m a doctor. I have studied medicine, of course. But I used to study parapsychology too,” explained Kaien. “I was there for a while.” “Para-what? ‘There’ where?” asked Allen confused. “Parapsychology. It’s a study of a number of ostensibly paranormal phenomena, including near-death experiences, reincarnation and apparitional experiences,“ explained Kaien. “Well. . . What I mean is there's a time when your soul is caught between the living and the dead.” “Oh! You mean ‘Ghost’ right? Haha. . .” snapped Allen. “Don’t tell me you are a ghost.” “No, of course not! Haha!” Kaien chuckled softly and looked back at the door. He noticed there were small words on the far right of the door. He looked closer and read. ‘Those Who Stand Before These Doors Shall Be Judge.’ The words sent shivers to Kaien and Allen after they read it. “Well, let’s not stand here. Come on,” said Kaien and grabbed Allen’s hand. “You don’t want to be judged, right?” “Urm. . . Ok!”
