“No, we can’t. .” A sound of piano being played could be heard from the nearest room before Kaien could finish his words. The four of them looked at each other, unsure what to do. Kaien nodded at Benji and he nodded back as a sign he agreed to Kaien’s plan without him having to say it out loud. They walked slowly to the sound like people who had been captivated by an enchanted song. In the room, Dominique was sitting and playing the grand piano like nothing in this world really bothered him at all. “Dom. . .” Kaien called and Dominique continued playing. Unsure if Dominique did not hear him or pretend he did not hear him, Kaien took a step toward him and called his name softly. Dominique stopped playing upon hearing his name being called for a second time. The moment the sound of the piano stopped, all four of them came back to their senses. “Hey! Open the door!” shouted Benji, impatient. Dominique did not move or turned to look at them. “Where’s Sean?” he suddenly asked. Benji was about to shout when Kaien put his finger at his mount as a signal to keep quiet. He gestured to Benji to back off slowly. Benji obeyed and Kaien took another step closer to Dominique, “Sean. . . He’s gone.” “Gone?” asked Dominique. He tossed a glance over his shoulder at Kaien. “He had found ‘himself’,” said Kaien. “Now he is ‘free’.” “So. . .” Dominique echoed in frustration, anger burning through him. The frustration and anger showed clearly in his voice. “. . .He left.” “No Dom,” Kaien was trying to comfort Dominique even though he knew in absence of truth, comfort was just a delusion. “He didn’t leave. He just be ‘free’.” Dominique stood in front of them and shouted, “You all the same!” He stared up at Kaien’s face, but he ignored him and what he had said. “In the end, everyone leaves!” “Kai, I think we should go now,” Benji lowered his voice and was holding Nathan’s hand tight.
“Go where?” Dominique snapped, irritated. “We are going home,” Nathan stuttered in fear. Benji held his hand tight and nodded at him. Dominique stared at Nathan with an icy look. “You don’t have home,” “He will stay with me,” Benji interrupted. “Nathan will go with me.” “No one is going anywhere.” Dominique watched the change, irritated by the bizarre mood swings and cryptic ramblings that defined Benji's speech. “No one.” “Dominique!” Benji spoke from next to Nathan, his tone less than friendly. “You can’t force us to stay here! This is not a normal place to live and we are not your prisoners!” “I don’t like your tone,” said Dominique. Something snapped inside of him and he was no longer the caretaker, Dominique. He was certainly no longer himself. He stared at Benji with anger. “And I said you are not going anywhere.” “AND I SAID YOU CAN’T FORCE ME!” Benji shouted gruffly and angrily at Dominique. “If you won’t stay, I don’t need you,” Dominique’s tone was flat and uninterested. He marched toward Benji slowly. “I like you and let you stay here, but you won’t accept it. So, I’ll never forgive you. Now, begone!” Dominique waved his hand and instantly Benji and Natsu were sent flying back, hitting the door hard before falling on the floor. Both of them were bleeding in the head. Benji groaned in pain before stopping moving. Both of them had their eyes shut close. “Benji! Nathan!” shouted Allen, and Dominique turned to him with anger. Kaien just stood still next to Allen. He was too shocked to say or do anything. His mind was busy thinking about what just happened. How Benji and Nathan could be sent flying when Dominique barely touched them. Is Dominique too was an angel? No, no, Kaien was really sure Dominique was just a human. Just a boy with a tragic past. He came back to his senses when he felt Allen hold his hand tightly. Allen looked at him and there was a sign of fear in his eyes. Kaien knew he had to do something or both of them would be the next victim. “Dom. . .?” Kaien muttered absent-minded, drew Dominique attention to himself, who was watching Allen intently. “WHAT?!” shouted Dominique and like a strong wind that suddenly blew to Kaien and Allen, both of them went flying back and hit the wall. “Urgghh. . .” Kaien groaned in pain. His back hurt from the impact and he knew that he had broken bones in his legs. Benji and Nathan might had broken bones some too. He looked at Allen who was laying down a few inches from him. He could not reach Allen but he knew Allen was still alive. His attention shifted back to Benji and Nathan. He was worried more about them than himself. They were bleeding and not moving at all. They need to get out of here or they would die. “Dominique. . .” Kaien uttered. “They will die.” “Then, let them die,” When Dominique answered, his voice was gravely. “Soon or sooner they would die too. So, why not now?” “Don’t. . .Don’t do this,” Kaien stuttered, quickly losing his composure. “Let them go.” “NO! YOU CAN’T LEAVE!” shouted Dominique. “NO ONE WILL EVER LEAVE.” “Dominique, listen to me,” Kaien was trying to reason with Dominique. He swallowed hard, almost cringing as he licked his lips and turned desperate eyes on Dominique. He had to find a way to make Dominique let them go. Then he remembered. “Do you remember the first game we played? In the kitchen? When I’m looking for the medicine?” Dominique did not answer, but somehow he had calmed down a bit. “The winner gets anything he wants, right?” Kaien tried to talk to Dominique. He was struggling to stand up with his broken leg but he bore the pain. “I won and you said I could claim my ‘prize’ for another time, right? You promise you would give anything I want, right?” Dominique hissed, his eyes burning with fury. Unwilling to admit it, but he still nodded slowly, eyes focused on Kaien. “I want to claim it now,” said Kaien, trying not to break eye contact with Dominique. “What I want is. . .I want you to save them and let them go.” Dominique about to burst with anger, but Kaien immediately interrupted him. “I’ll stay here, with you. Let them go, and I’ll stay with you.” “You. . .will?” asked Dominique, doubting what Kaien said. “Yes. I’m here to stay. We can play anything, everything.” Dominique asked again. “You will?” If his tone was any indication, he wanted more. “No! Kaien! No!” cried Allen. Dominique switched his attention from Kaien to Allen and glared at him with anger. “I promise I’ll never walk away or disappear,” said Kaien, trying to make Dominique pay attention to him. “Can you do that for me? You aren't going to break your promise, right? Dom?”
“Yes. . . I am.” “That’s good. We can be together forever.” “Yes. . . Stay here with me.” “Yes.” “Stay here and be the new Master, Kaien.” “Yes. I will.” “Kaien! Nooo!”
