Chapter 39
Lightening passed through the clouded sky as roaring thunder echoed throughout the woods.
Filippo looked up realizing that a thunderstorm was approaching, he walked further as a squirrel ran past beside him and hurried quickly into a hole in a dried tree as the rain began to drizzle.
Placing his hand over his head as a shield, Filippo scanned around with occupied thoughts as the rain dropped on his face and quickly trickled down to his mouth, he spat out groaning in disgust, rapidly, he began to walk faster, his handheld unto his bag tightly.
As he walked, the smell of a burning animal filled his nostril, Filippo narrowed his eyes wondering how an animal would burn in such weather, a mighty rain was about to avenge his wrath on the earth.
A few feet away from him, he sighted a wood house deep inside as tall tress covered it, his forehead squeezed in a frown as he saw thick smoke emit from a window in the house. Filled with doubts, Filippo walked closer, the rain began to pour down tremendously as his clothes became drenched by it.
Quickly he walked towards the doorpost, glanced around with a heavy heart as he knocked slightly at the door, his other hand touching his sword.
The door opened, a figure of an old woman glared at him. She has weird black eyes, her grey hair rested firmly on her shoulder, her lips cracked and dry as her long skirt swung to the touch of the mighty breeze accompanied by the rain.
She eyed Filippo closely with curious eyes, her hand still on the door with a stern expression on her face.
"Who are you?" She asked firmly in an accent that wasn't clear to him. Her voice was weak but filled with passion as her face couldn't hide her unfriendly spirit.
Filippo looked at her, water dripping down his fully soaked hair, "I am Filippo, a wanderer on a journey, I need shelter against the mighty rainfall and I promise to pay with whatever I have" he introduced as a powerful thunder echoed.
The old woman didn't say a word but fixed her eyes on him as she surveyed his wet clothing then back to his face. She glanced out towards the woods, the rain pouring down mercilessly, "I don't let strangers into my home" she let out with a firm and confident voice, her wrinkled face showing much of her age.
Filippo glanced down at his drenched clothes and back at the woman, words unable to proceed out of his mouth.
To his surprise, the old woman opened the door widely for him but the stern look stuck on her face, "You can come in" she gestured to him with a nod.
With a grateful heart, Filippo walked into the small house. He surveyed the room, there stood a small table with chairs around it at a side of the room. A sofa in the middle big enough to contain two people, knitting wool with its pin on it as a loaf of bread laid on a small seat beside the sofa.
The old woman walked towards the sofa, picked up the knitting pin, and sat down, her eyes facing a fireplace that stood meters away from where she sat. She glanced up at Filippo who stood still, water dripping down his clothes.
"You can take off your cloak and seat on that chair near the table" she directed pointing towards it.
Nodding, Filippo took off his outer cloak as his inner shirt became visible, his sword by his side as he held onto his bag tightly. He ambled towards the empty chair and sat, his eyes scanning around the room.
The old woman peered up at him, slowly her eyes glimpsed at the sword by his side, an expression appearing on her face.
"The sword of Immortality" she let out to the surprise of Filippo who glared at her with shocked eyes.
"You know about it?" Filippo inquired, his eyes still on the strange woman.
A smile crept on her face, she looked down on the sweater she was knitting, "You don't know how powerful the weapon you hold is. It is an ancient sword made in the days of the beginning when angels were created by God even before humans came into existence" She said to the surprise of Filippo who looked at the woman with confused eyes.
A frown appeared on his face as he narrowed his eyes looking puzzled, "How do you know about all this?" Filippo asked, more water dripping down his face.
The woman looked up at him, suddenly, a laugh escaped her lips. To Filippo's surprise, she began to change into a different form.
Filled with shock and fear, Filippo stood up and walked away from her, his hand holding the sword as he glared at the woman before him.
The old woman changed into a young lady. Her hair, white and flawless, her clothes changed into a white gown as her wrinkled face became so smooth as a newborn. She had blazing red lips and green eyes that glared at Filippo whose eyes widened in shock.
A chuckle escaped her lip, her white hair flowing swiftly as it radiated with powers.
"Filippo Camassei of Italy, a man of power, keeper of the sword, mouthpiece of men, and defendant of the prophecy of old. Too bad that you can't recognize me" She spoke aloud in a soft and tender voice but a stern feeling in it.
Replenished in shock, Filippo stood still as he couldn't remove his gaze from this strange lady, doubts written on his face.
"Who are you?" He manages to ask as words seemed so hard to proceed from his mouth, full sanity overwhelming him.
The lady got up from the sofa, a smile on her face as her slender body glistened so much beauty.
"I am Gabrielle, angel, and protector of the world beyond humanity. Remember the night you were attacked by Abadon, the demon of destruction on your way to the convent" She asserted, her green eyes glowing powerfully. "I saved you and gave you more strength to continue your journey" she chuckled, her laugh filling the room, "I am also your guardian angel who will see you throughout this dangerous journey to the underworld" she nods, her gown so pure white as the light emitting from it was so blinding.
Covering his face with a hand, different unspoken words going through his head, "My guardian angel?" He implored still confused.
Gabrielle laughed, "Oh, you need wings to prove that I am an angel?" She asked an eyebrow raised as a smile appeared on her face.
To Filippo's surprise, huge white wings grew behind her, it was so huge and tall that it touched the ceiling, a bright light flashed through his eyes as he fell to the ground with his eyes closed which he slowly opened gazing at her.
Gabrielle deliberately came towards him, her skin, so white as snow, her angelic face so charming and overwhelming that all Filippo could do was to stare. She came closer to him placing a hand towards him, her face beaming with smiles, "You don't have to be afraid because you won't fight this battle alone. I was sent by the highest order to guard you, the fate of humanity isn't lost forever. The journey won't be easy but I will be here to protect you. Abadon, the demon who attacked you a while ago will come again to steal the sword, guide it with your whole life because that is your ultimate power to defeat all demons" she stopped and scanned around, "The sun will set very soon, you will have to stay here for the night and once its morning, your journey will continue" she stated, her eyes calm and gentle.
Still confused at this sudden outcome and revelation, Filippo nodded in affirmative, his stare still on her as thick thunder roared fiercely.
******************************
Lucifer sat on his throne with anger written on his face, his claws, long and terrifying scratched his throne aimlessly, his red eyes glowing in deep anger.
Footsteps began to approach him as the 5 princes looked in the direction the sound erupts from.
As the figure drew closer, Lucifer's frown lessened, the slender figure radiated powers, her red eyes glowing powerfully just like his.
"Father" Ammit acknowledged with a bow, the demons present turned their faces away from her in great fright, their body unable to contain her wrath which brought nothing but death along with her sisters.
Lucifer's eyes narrowed, he glared at her wondering what she has on her mind.
Ammit walked closer to her father, her long claws secreted thick black smoke, darkness all over her. Her expression was filled with nothing but anger and hate as her fangs tightened out of vast fury.
"Father, I have something to speak to you about" she let out, her face on her father who glared at her with narrowed eyes.
"Speak!" Lucifer ordered, his voice vibrating as the ground shook in great power, the demons trembling in fear.
Ammit scanned around her, slowly she fixed her eyes back on Lucifer who sat looking at her impatiently.
"Father, I have served you all my life, right from the moment I was conceived by my earthly mother, you took me and raised me in your custom, enriching me with so many powers, wisdom and bravery. I grew up with so much strength as I wanted nothing else but to be ruthless and evil just like you. Then one after the other, my sisters came into existence, and finally, Beleth came along, we were both there the minute she was conceived by her mother Nevada" her voice resounded throughout the quiet hall, a lukewarm sensation filling the demons who stood around.
"How could you choose Beleth over me father?" She inquired, anger in her voice.
"Why Beleth?! I have served you with everything I have and as your first seed, I should possess all powers and rule my sisters vindicating your wrath and not Beleth ruling me!" She growled, her eyes began to blaze fiercely as wildfire.
Lucifer stared at her not saying a word, his fingers slowly tapping the edge of his powerful throne encircled with red flames.
"The prophecy chooses Beleth, not you" Lucifer let out, a harsh expression on his face.
"No father" Ammit rebuked as she came closer to him, each step she took vibrated haphazardly.
"You are the prophecy, you choose Beleth over me because you want to. You have every right to decide who governs us but instead of choosing your first seed, you choose Beleth who is the last seed sprung on earth by your powers!" She clarified, with an outraged spirit, her demon side flaring up in rage.
With a hardened face, Lucifer nodded, the scream of a dying soul could be heard, "I have taken my chosen and nothing can be done about that" He declared with extraordinary authority.
Filled with rage, Ammit stormed out of the room, her heart burning with deep anger, her face squeezing in utmost hostility, "I must take what is mine, no one will stop me, Never!" she mumbled to herself, black terrible looking horns emits from her head as her black hair glowed with nothing but deep darkness.Download Novelah App
