Chapter 45
Filippo stared at Maria, a gentle wind passed swiftly around them. "You don't remember?" He implored with narrowed eyes.
Scanning around, her eyes glitter in confusion, her lips trembling as her fingers vibrated, slowly, she returned her gaze to Filippo who stood beside her, his sword still in his hand, "I can't remember anything" she muttered with difficulty, her blue eyes still fixed on him.
With a surprised face, Filippo glanced around, he wiped the blood off his face, the pain gradually lessens. With his stare on her, he placed his sword by his side and walked closer to her, "We have to leave now, I will explain things to you later, your sisters might find us soon" he said gesturing a hand towards her.
Embodied with mixed feelings, Maria stared at his hand and back to his face, uncertainty written on her.
"We don't have time Maria, take my hand and let's leave now!" he ordered raising an eyebrow.
Still, in doubt, Maria stretched forth her hand placing it in his, a slight pain passed through her heart as she groaned in pain, her eyes closed in discomfort.
"Your body is still reacting, be careful" he motioned holding her hand as he helped her to her feet.
Maria stood up still unsure of what happened, her long hair flowed to her waist region, her gaze still on Filippo, "Who are you?" She asked him, confusion overwhelming her.
Wiping off the blood from his face as he spat, Filippo looked around wondering where they are, it was as if they departed out of the underworld within a blink of an eye. The lonely road they stood on which lead to an empty part startled him, with a frown, he turned to her, "This isn't time for questions Maria, we have to get away out of here as fast as we can. I came here to get you and now that you are out of that daughter of darkness thinking of yours, you need to tell me where you brought me to" he said to her with stern eyes.
Maria stood still gazing at him with lost eyes, she scanned around looking puzzled, "I brought you here? I can't even remember doing this, I don't even know what's happening" she let out in frustration.
Exhaling deeply, Filippo walked towards her with a hardened expression, her inquisitiveness irritating his impatience. "Bridgettine convent, Mother Tekla, Ammit, Beleth..." He paused raising an eyebrow, "Does these names ring a bell?" He inquired with a straight face.
Maria glared at him with difficulty, her mind filled with heavy thoughts. Her lips moved as words became so heavy to proceed from her mouth, different unspoken utterances overwhelming her.
Immediately, she felt a deep pain in her. With difficulty, she staggered backward, her head spinning as her eyes scanned around in hardship, clenching her chest as her breathing became heavy, her eyes suddenly changed in a dark black color, her hair changing into different colors, her fingers trembling as her whole body jerked.
Quickly, Filippo held her, his eyes twisted in surprise, filled with worry as he watched her, grasping her in his arm, Maria gradually closed her eyes falling into a deep slumber.
Surveying around in confusion not knowing where to go, he left his bag at the bridge of the underworld, there was nothing with him here except his sword. He scanned around with flickering eyes, still agitated he carried her in his arms wondering where to go, the cries of birds filling his ears.
Glancing up at the moon which shone brightly, he began to go walk heading towards the west. He glanced at Maria, her skin became so pale, her breathing slow and steady. As he journeyed further, the realization hit him, her human blood is still growing and hasn't fully developed, she needs time but there was no time left on their side as he knew that her sisters will come after them soon.
Hours passed by swiftly, morning came but Filippo walked deeper entering into the deep woods, the scorching heat of the sun pierced down fiercely on him, sweats trickling down his face. With Maria in his arms, he journeyed more, his head swirling in thoughts, wondering when she will be awake because he needs her to finish up what he started. Hours went by, the sun set rapidly as darkness erupts the earth, sounds of crickets filled his ears, wild birds flew ahead of him crying out to their mates.
With aching arms and legs, Filippo scanned around for a resting place, seeing a big tree before him, he walked towards it and gently placed Maria at its foot.
Massaging his fingers, Filippo looked around searching for dry sticks. There was no matchstick for him to light them up, realizing this, he groaned in frustration placing the sticks at a spot.
Tiredly, he walked towards the tree, sat beside Maria, his ears stood alert in case of any danger lurking around, his hand on his sword. Minutes passed by, his eyes became weary and tired, slowly, he drifted off in the cold night.
A gentle wind passed through her, dust rose to the air as sand hung on her face. Maria stood looking around, her eyebrows twisted in confusion as she found herself in a desert, no one was there but her. She began to walk towards a path wondering where she is, she could not remember coming here, her memories fading into dust.
With dry and cracked lips as her throat ache from lack of water, she walked further, the heat of the sun glinting on her harshly, beads of sweats formed on her forehead as she moved with staggering feet.
Suddenly, the sand of the desert began to tremble in dismay, with enlarged eyes she looked up as a cloud of thick dust approached her violently. She stood at a point wondering what's happening, the heavy dust moved faster towards her, immediately, her eyes caught an image running fiercely towards her, broadening her eyes in surprise as thousands of black horses ran towards her direction galloping faster than ever.
With fear in her heart, she screamed in fright and began to run but the heavy sand grasping her feet made it difficult for her. She struggled with all her strength, but the more she ran, she felt like she was standing at a point, she wasn't moving at all.
Swiftly with panic, she turned back to the galloping horses, immediately, they ran towards her with great might. Screaming, she covered her head, the sound of the horses around her, suddenly, something heavy knocked her off, with dizzy eyes she fell into a deep slumber diverting into a strange but dark place.
Wondering what's happening, Maria looked around at the dark atmosphere, everywhere was so dark that she couldn't see a thing, the sound of her breathing filled her ears.
"Hello" she called out softly but no one answered her echoing voice. She tried to move but stepped her feet on something which cracked into several pieces. With fear in her heart, she wondered what she stepped on, the place was so dark for her to see anything. "Who is there?" She inquired with a tensed voice, but still no response.
Instantly, someone passed through her, a gentle wind overwhelming her, goosebumps appeared all over her body. A soft hand rested on her shoulder which made her heart leaped in fear, her knees became weak with fright, her lips trembling in fear.
"Who are you?" She stammered slowly turning her gaze to her shoulder but the darkness stopped her from seeing who it is.
An evil chuckle filled her, the laugh was so evil that the ground began to shiver. Immediately, a bright light came on, Maria closed her eyes against the blinding light with confusion and fear in her heart. She heard the evil chuckle again, her heart raced faster than ever. Gradually, the hand on her shoulder left her as the being walked towards her, her lips stretched in an evil grin.
Standing before her was a lady who looked just like her but exceptionally evil and beautiful. Maria's eyes widened in shock as she stared at the strange lady wondering why they look alike but so opposite.
"Who are you?" Maria inquired in shock.
The figure before her laughed in great humor, her eyes fixed on Maria, "You silly" she let out in an evil but authoritative voice, her hair radiating so many powers, "I am you Maria" she spoke out with an evil smirk. With so much confidence, she walked closer to Maria, their eyes locked together in passion.
Beleth scarily twisted her head, her eyes turned blood red as blood trickled down her mouth, terror shone all over her, "Have you forgotten so soon?" Beleth inquired, a wicked grin still on her face, her voice echoed with so much supremacy. She touched Maria's face tenderly, her face twisted in rising anger, "We killed so many souls, We won souls for Lucifer, our lord, and our father, We were unbreakable together, our powers so fierce that we brought so much panic to the heart of humans and demons. We ruled over your sisters, we did so many evil things Maria, don't you remember me anymore?" She asked in a tone, soft and authoritative.
Marka stood still with shock on her face, "No" she let out not able to believe what she said, "I am not you, I can never be like you, we are different in so many ways" she replied with difficulty, her heart filled with doubts.
With an evil grin, Beleth laughed aloud, her laughter echoed so fiercely that the ground beneath them began to shake uncontrollable, "Don't be a fool Maria" Beleth said as she began to walk around Maria with pride on her face, "We were so strong together, we ripped hearts out of men with our bare hands, we caused the sun to fall on earth, the clouds red as blood..." She paused, walked towards Maria with glittering eyes, "Have you forgotten how we ripped the heart of your best friend Catherine and how we killed your mother superior at your convent, have you forgotten all that Maria?" She whispered in her ears, her voice holding so much pride.
Maria froze at the spot, her eyes enlarged in shock, her body trembled by her words, "I killed Catherine?" She stammered as her eyes welled up in tears, memories of that night began to flash through her, she remembered how Catherine thick red blood dripped out of her heart as she glared at Maria with eyes filled with nothing but love.
Immediately, memories began to flash through her mind, her killings, words, destruction, damages, and death she caused on humanity. The images appearing in her mind were so heavy as her head began to spin, with great terror she held both her ears with her hands, her head shaking in realization.
"Remember Maria, Remember!" Beleth's voice echoed in her as her eyes began to spin around, her body jerking in pain.
"No" Maria let out, her hands still on her ears as she surveyed around with her spinning eyes, everything began to flood in her heart pumping so loud that she could feel her heart in her mouth.
"You killed them, Maria, you killed those who loved you the most, those who were there for you. You ripped their hearts out and took their souls, enslaving humanity just for your selfish happiness" Beleth cried out with pride and anger in her voice as she walked around the jerking Maria whose eyes began to change into multiple colors.
"We were strong together until you were taken away from me, I wanted nothing more but to kill, taste the red blood of blistering humans! Nothing else!" Beleth screamed with blazing red eyes, "You betrayed me, Maria, you left me embracing your good side, your human blood. You should have chosen me instead but no, you left me just like you do to those who love you!" Beleth yelled in rage, her eyes glinting in hatred as she tortured Maria who fell to the floor with trembling lips.
"You are a beast, Maria! Nothing but a beast!" Beleth cried out with pain. Immediately, her body caught fire, burning with so much fury as her screams filled Maria. "I hate you!" Beleth screamed with hate in her voice as she pointed at Maria with her burning finger, her body slowly turning into ashes as it burned harshly.
Maria laid on the floor, her eyes trembling in fright, her body shaking in realization as her whole memories came flooding back, her killings, destructions, everything she did in her demon form came crawling back with so much anger.
"No!" She screamed aloud with great pain, tears flowing down her eyes, nothing but regret hung in her chest. With a tremendous scream, she fainted, her heart beating so fast.
Immediately, she woke up, her eyes flew wide open as it was fixed on the moon which shined brightly. Sweat trickled down her face as her whole body froze in the realization of her evil doings, a tear trickled down her eyes, pain hung deeply in her heart.
"Catherine" she whispered in pain as more tears flowed out. Anger began to rise in her, her heart racing so fast, nothing but revenge began to build in her, she twisted her hand in a fist, rage formed on her face. She must find a way to defeat Lucifer and her sisters and revenge for the death of all she has lost.
Her eyes fell on Filippo who slept soundly, With hardened eyes, she stood up, her noise alerted Filippo who opened his eyes glaring at her in surprise, "Where are you going?" He inquired in confusion.
With a stern face, she cut a piece of her clothing and packed her hair. Now that she has remembered everything, it is time to fix things and save the last state of humanity. With rage in her, she turned to Filippo with stiffened eyes, "We have a mission to accomplish, Let's go, we don't have time on our side" she declared with firmness, not waiting for a word from him, she began to walk towards a direction, the cold air of the night filled her.
Filippo stood up and followed suit, his face surprised at her sudden change of attitude.Download Novelah App
