Catrina focus her mind on her test, looking at the questions she smiled 'simple' she thought. She wrote her test with her eyes closed ( figure of speech). Rudolf is a smart dude, though not as smart as Catrina. He write his test too without fretting about failing.
Shekina on the other hand didn't study and now she is finding it difficult to write. She chew on her pen looking left and right. She send a piece of paper to Catrina requesting for help but she acted like she didn't see it. The paper was at her desk but she didn't move her hands or eyes towards it for once. This action of hers made shekina extremely angry, she gritted her teeth in annoyance. Catrina is trying to rebel against her family and she choose to start with Shekina.
Poor Catrina, she doesn't even have the confident to look one in the eyes or stop herself from looking at her legs or the floor when she is being talk to but here she is trying to rebel, trying to fight back and act all brave. We will see were that will lead her
After school Catrina rush home so as to be on time. She has a curfew and if she miss it she going to go through another round of torture. Reaching home on time she sigh in relief thank in her stars that she wouldn't be punish today. Unknown to her that Shekina has something install for, the devil's advocate isn't going to let what Catrina did slight. How dare she ignore her in class?
Catrina went to her room and change, she didn't have breakfast in the morning so she decided to have some snacks before working. She had a glass of juice and cookies, and after eating she wash the dishes she use and keep them back in place.
She had mop the floor but she didn't dust the furniture like she was told to do so taking what she needs for dusting she began her cleaning. Dusting every speck of dust even though there is non to be seen. her aunt Velma just want to trouble by giving her unnecessary things to do. Thing like cleaning the already clean floor, dusting things shock don't have a speck of dust of dust on them, do other already clean laundry. But she doesn't mind. She using doing the work.
Ever since her parents died on the plane crash at least that's what she was told because she wasn't around during that time. She had con to her aunt's in England for the holidays and she suddenly got a call from her uncle telling her to come back that something horrible had happen to her parents.
When she got back she was told by the police and the investigators that they had died in a plane crash. She didn't bother to verify, she was only ten plus she was grieving over the dead of her parents that she didn't notice her that her parents names were not listed amongst the names of those who died on that particular plane crash.
She finished with her chores and went on in helping in the kitchen to make dinner, she was chopping the tomatoes when the housemate left to ease herself and Shekina entered the kitchen. " you ignored me today in class, I practically begged for your help. Me Shekina begged for your help during the maths test and you refused to help me. Not to worry your going to beg for my help today to safe you from dad but I won't come to your rescue " ' like you've ever helped me before' thought Catrina. Shekina suddenly took the knife from her hand and in swift motion she cut herself on the hand and drop the knife on the floor, she scream and said " Catrina what did you do? I only ask what your doing and how you write your test but you hurt me with a knife" Catrina gave out a shocked look unable to comprehend what just or what is happening. Why will Shekina cut herself and blame her fall it ? The mate who step out entered back to see the shock expression on Catrina's face and the pain on Shekina's face. The white tiles on the floor is stain with blood and more of it continue to drop from her hand. Shekina wince in pain.
Velma who was in her room heard her daughter scream in pain, she step out of her room and rush to the kitchen. " what is going on here" she ask stepping in to the kitchen. " oh my gosh honey what happened?" She ask when she saw her daughter's hand. She open a cupboard and pull put the first aid kit, she pull her daughter to sit on the bench inside the kitchen before cleaning the wound. First she damp a cotton which has antiseptic on it on the wound, Shekina hiss because of the sting emanating from the wound.
The mate clean the blood stains from on the floor. " how did you get such a deep cut on you hand" Velma ask when she finished cleaning the wound and tying it with a bandage.
Shekina sob not because the wound stings bit because she wants to look pitiful and make her story believable " mom I just came here to ask Catrina how she wrote her exams and ask for her help if she could tutor me in maths and other subjects that am not that strong with but instead of her to just refuse to tutor me she stab me with a knife mom. I just wanted her help but she stab me instead " Catrina finally realizes what shekina is trying to do, she shook her head denying the a ligations. " i didn't do anything I swear, I didn't touch her" her voice came out as a whisper. Velma didn't even wait for her to defend herself before pulling her by her ear, she took the knife and gave Catrina a very deep cut on her hand deeper than the one shekina inflicted upon herself.
Catrina yell in pain while shekina smile in delight before smirking. Frederick who just came back from work heard the commotion going on in the kitchen, he went in and saw the scene. Velma explain everything to him as per what shekina said, Catrina look at her uncle praying and wishing that he doesn't believe the lies. Deep down she knows her uncle is aware of her character and knows that she can't do such a thing. To her surprise well no really surprising he took his daughter's side. He pull Catrina to the living room discarding the fact that his wife has injured the girl and her hand is bleeding.
Taking of his suit, he use his belt to whip Catrina, whipping her all over her body not giving her time to cry over a spot which burns. The belt didn't do what he wants so he set it aside and use his hands slapping and kicking her, he step on the wound on her hand making her to yelp in pain. Picking up the belt he had set aside, he use the metal to whip Catrina living more injuries on her body, the girl felt weak. The whipping she receive coupled with the blood she has lost made her to go unconscious. The trio left her there after warning the mate who was silently weeping not to touch the girl on the floor.
And hour pass but she still didn't wake up, two, three four but the girl still laid on the floor. Her blood staining the floor, the blood coming from almost every part of her body. Catrina laid there motionless, life slipping out of her body.
Another hour pass and that's when her uncle and aunt began to worry, at first they thought she was pretending but now they know she isn't. Uncle Frederick put his finger on her neck to feel her pours he could feel it though it was faint, he put his ears close to her nose to hear if she was breathing and out came her shallow breath.
He carried her in his hands something he hasn't done for along time. He place her in his car and entered were tg his wife and they drove off to the nearest hospital...
