"Hey guys have you heard?" Tom announced, grabbing a seat next to Jonathan.
"Hmm, heard what?" Jonathan inquired, feeling lethargic after pulling an all nighter to complete his remaining assignment.
"Yeah I heard, apparently our town's mayor is planning to tear down The Eagles Elementary school!? Do you know how much that school has contributed to our town's development and now they just want to take it down? And guess what?" Dani replied
"What?" Jonathan asked seemingly getting more interested in this conversation.
"They're planning to build a statue for goodness sake! A whole statue of the mayor! A statue!"
"Now that's just messed up isn't it? Why destroy the only thing that has been keeping our whole town from being enlisted in the governments redevelopment program" Jonathan argued.
The Eagles Elementary school brings back so many memories for the three friends, especially for Tom. He hadn't had it easy ever since he moved from his previous school.
He had been the target of bullying back where he came from since he acted a little different from the rest of the kids. Nevertheless, he had a really kind soul and was such an angel that Dani and Jonathan could not believe that anyone who even dare to hurt him.
"I guess there's nothing you can't do when you've got the money for it" Dani added, her voice getting smaller as she spoke each sentence.
Jonathan and Tom looked towards Dani understanding how she felt of this whole situation. That school is the only source of income for her parents as they work as the school's cleaner. Getting a new job in town with their profession is hard because no one needs anymore workers.
Her family is already struggling with her being college and her younger siblings in school. Dani decided not to ask for too much money from them and decided to get a job that could help her to pay her college fees.
"...Well, I'm not sure if it will work but....why don't we write like a....a.....petition!?" Jonathan suggested.
In all honesty, it was a reasonable idea but it would take up so much time and there were only three of them. Dani and Tom weren't sure whether to agree or not because they knew it would not be possible to accomplish with just them.
"I'm not saying that it's a bad idea or anything but...would that really work? I mean we're talking about the three of us going against a political figure in our town who could be a thousand times richer than all of us are" Tom added, he didn't want any of them to end up in jail for going against the town's mayor, that would leave a bad image on their profile.
"The way you said it makes it sound like a bad idea Tom" Dani butted in, making a funny face at the end.
Tom and Dani were arguing after Dani had finished her sentence. Tom kept defending himself while Dani kept riling him up. Jonathan sat there laughing, watching the two was like watching two children fighting each other.
*DING* *DING*
Jonathan checked his phone to see his notification, it was a text message from his mom. She was asking him to return back to their town during his break. Jonathan had already planned to go since it's been a long time since he last saw his mom, he missed her dearly.
"Hey guys, how about we head back for our break? Who knows we might be able to figure something out there?" Jonathan's words brought their quarrel to a halt
They acted like they were considering his suggestion even though they had decided to go with him the very moment Jonathan suggested it.
"So....is that a yes?" Jonathan asked again, anxious by their answer. If he plans to help their town, he'd much rather have the two with him.
"Sure! Why not" Dani answered as Tom nodded his head giving a thumbs up to Jonathan.
"Well then, it's time to start packing-"
"Wait, you mean like right now?" Tom asked.
"Well yeah, when else are we going?" Jonathan said as a matter of fact, leaving the two confuse as he left first heading towards his dorm. He could hear them panicking and rushing towards their dorm in a hurry.

"So...has everyone gotten anything? Clothes, charger, to-" Jonathan was very organized to the point he would arrange the whole fridge color coded.
"Yes, yes, you don't have to worry bud" Tom replied cutting him off mid sentence.
"Let's go then!" Jonathan got on his car, starting the car before heading off.

"Hey mom" Jonathan greeted as they both closed in for a hug.
"Look at you all grown up now!" Jonathan's mom announced as she ruffled his hair barely not reaching it.
"You've gotten taller too!" Jonathan's mom ushered Jonathan inside for lunch.
Dani and Tom on the other hand have decided to visit their parents while they were still around they all promised to meet at their secret spot later in the evening.
"So, how have your studies been? Are you facing any difficulties? Oh! And how are dear Tom and Dani?"
Jonathan's mom showered him with so many question it felt more like an interview. Despite feeling tired, Jonathan answered all of his mom's questions.
