A few days have passed by, Jonathan, Tom and Dani were still at town as they wanted to be there when the mayor announces his decision. It was quite nerve wrecking for them as they have been thinking about it ever since they left the mayor's office up till now.
"You know what guys, let's go out and do something fun! We can't sit here all anxious when we're finally back home after so long!" This time it was Dani who suggested which was quite surprising since she was more of a stay at home kind of girl.
"That's rich coming from you I ain't going to lie" Tom snickered. He remembers the time he had to practically drag Dani from her dorm room just to go outside.
The two started bickering again and this time Jonathan joined in as well, hoping to calm the two before they start pulling each others hair. Once they had calmed down, they talked about where to go and left a while after.

"Man it's been so long since I last ate here" Jonathan took his time eating, wanting to savour every moment meanwhile Tom and Dani had finished in a flash.
The atmosphere in the cafe was just great. There were more people here compared to when they were younger. Back then I think it's safe to say the only customers there was them.
Near the counter a lady was holding a remote control, flipping through each channel until it landed in channel 4. The first thing that can be seen is the mayor's face with the man they had met the other day standing right behind him.
"....yes I believe the project is soon to begin. We are planning to have it done by the end of June before the officials pay a visit" The mayor was answering a question from the interviewer.
They seemed to have just left the abandoned building by the look of it because The Eagles elementary can be seen in the background. But why aren't they saying anything about the building? Surely they would announce it now?
A few questions related to the officials were asked and that was pretty much it. Tom, Dani and Jonathan sat there watching intently and finally the mayor starts too talk about where the statue is going to be.
"This is it guys! It's happening" Tom was nervous but curious about what the answer is going to be.
".....a few days ago three brave teenagers came over to my office and caused a huge ruckus-" The three looked at each other in sync
"....they demanded that I change the area of the project. Actually, they were the ones who suggested the place we visited a while ago" The mayor smiled thinking about the past events.
"...So-" the mayor turned to look directly at the camera.
"...To the three of you, I have finally come to a conclusion......The Eagles elementary shall not be demolished-"
"YES! WE DID IT!" Jonathan got up shouting, getting weird looks from a few people who were in the cafe. He then sat back down to listen to the rest of the mayor's speech.
"...the place they have recomended was truly magnificent to ignore and would soon be the new recreational place in this town. Both The Eagles elementary as well as the soon to begin project shall become the main attracrion in our town."
Just as the mayor was about to continue the lady with the remote had switched the channel again. The three groaned but neertheless they were happy with the outcome.
After celebrating a little while longer in the cafe, they all went back home and shared the news with their family. One of them even bragged to their family about it

It was finally time for them to leave, they went to The Eagles elementary one last time and isited the abandoned building. However this time there were many people there consisting workers and architectures.
It seems like the mayor was present at the time as well, so they talked for a few minutes although it was mostly Tom saying thank you over and over again and Jonathan stuttering with his speech.
Dani just stood there enjoying the scene unfolding before her. The mayor gave them one final smile before returning to talking with one of the worker's.

" That was......exhausting" Jonathan was driving once again with Tom to his left and Dani at the back.
"Says the one who couldn't even stop saying 'THANK YOU'S'......although I have to admit it was funny" As if on cue Dani started playing the video she took of them earlier.
"YOU RECORDED IT!?" Tom and Jonathan screamed, to which she replied yes.
They threathened her to delete it but it was already too late. She had already sent it to their parents. With that, they all ended up going back home with a smile on their faces but not Tom because he was still haunted by what he did in the video
