We pulled into the driveway of his apartment building and he turned off the car. “Do you want to come upstairs?” he asked. I nodded and followed him into the apartment. He opened the door and we walked inside. “Do you want anything to drink?” he asked as we walked into the kitchen. “No, I’m fine,” I said. I followed him into the living room and sat down on the couch. He sat down next to me and turned on the TV. He flipped through the channels until he found a movie. We watched the movie for a while, then he put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I rested my head on his shoulder and we continued watching the movie. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feeling of being held by him. I felt him kiss me on the top of my head and I looked up at him. He smiled at me and then leaned down to kiss me. I kissed him back and we kept kissing until the movie ended. He pulled away from me and looked into my eyes. “I love you,” he said. “I love you too.” I smiled. I woke up the next morning feeling groggy. I had stayed up late the night before with Giorgio and we had watched a movie. Then I went back into the living room to find Giorgio. He wasn’t there, so I figured he must have gone to the kitchen to make breakfast. I walked into the kitchen and saw that he had already made breakfast. He had eggs, bacon, and toast. I sat down at the table and started eating. Giorgio came back into the room and sat down across from me. “How did you sleep?” he asked. “Good,” I replied. “Do you have plans for today?” he asked. “I don’t know yet,” I answered. He nodded. “I wanted to talk to you about something,” he said. I looked up at him and waited for him to continue. “What I said to you that night…” he started. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean any of it. I was drunk and I said things I shouldn’t have said. I was angry and hurt and I took it out on you. I’m sorry.” I looked at him for a long moment, trying to decide if I believed him or not. He seemed sincere and I wanted to believe him, but I was afraid to. “I know it’s too late to say this now, but I really love you,” he said softly. “I’ve loved you since the day I met you. You were the only one who could make me happy. You were the only person who could make me feel alive. You were my everything. You were the person I loved the most in the world.” “Then why did you treat me like that?” I asked. “Why did you say those things to me?” He sighed. “I don’t know,” he said. “I think I was scared. I was scared of how much I loved you. I was scared that I was going to lose you. I was scared that you would leave me. I was so scared of losing you that I pushed you away. I pushed you away and I hurt you and I’m so sorry.” “Do you still love me?” I asked. “Yes,” he said without hesitation. “I’ll always love you. No matter what happens, no matter where we go, I’ll always love you.” I felt tears start to well up in my eyes. I didn’t want to cry in front of him, so I quickly blinked them away. “Allie,” he said gently. “Please tell me you forgive me. Please tell me you still love me.” “I do,” I whispered. “I still love you.” He smiled at me. “Thank you,” he said quietly. He reached out and took my hand in his. “I promise I’ll never hurt you again. I promise I’ll never leave you. I’ll always be here for you.” I squeezed his hand. “I believe you,” I said softly. I leaned over and rested my head on his chest. “I love you so much,” he whispered into my hair. “I’m so glad you forgave me.” I nodded. I loved him too. I loved him more than anything else in the world. I had never stopped loving him. No matter what happened, I would always love him. He kissed the top of my head, and I closed my eyes. I felt his hand move from my hair to my back, and he started rubbing small circles on my skin. “What do you want to do today?” he asked me. “I don’t know,” I replied. “We could go see a movie,” he suggested. “Okay,” I said. “Or we could go for a walk,” he said. “I want to go for a walk,” I told him. “Alright,” he replied. “Let’s go for a walk.” We finished our breakfast and then went outside. We walked around the block a few times, talking about nothing in particular. When we got back to the house, Giorgio suggested that we go inside and watch a movie. I agreed, so we went into the living room. Giorgio turned on the television and started flipping through the channels. He finally settled on a movie, and we both sat down on the couch to watch it.
