Esmeralda's point of view
"Do you think, we can really convince him, nonno Alejandro? When he seems to be more busier than ever? He never seemed to even bother feeding his stomach." I asked while we were walking towards his room.
When we knocked, as usual, no one answered. So we knocked again and again and again. But when we already knocked like ten times, we've just decided to let him go if he truly wants to have alone time. However, when we went down, one of the maids saw us coming from Lucretius’room, and so she asked if we were looking for him. When we said yes, we were almost pissed at him when we heard that he went out at early as he can without even using any of his luxurious vehicles. Which means he must have been out for a walk.
“Well, that's quite new. I've never seen him go for a walk in this own house of his. ”Nonno Alejandro commented with a hint of a proud father in his voice.
I nodded. “I see. Since then. ”
And so, instead of planning to get Lucretius, we've decided to do what Nonno Alejandro suggested to do.
“We're only going to cultivate flowers, my dear. Is that fine with you? ”
“Sure, that seems fun. ”
In the middle of cultivating the different varieties of naturally beautiful flowers, I saw a group of butterflies playing with it. These scenes, for an office person like me, would only be watched in a movie. And I would only see it in real life once in a Blue Moon. So imagine my sincere bliss when I saw them flying around with my own two eyes.
"What a sight to behold. ”I murmured.
Nonno Alejandro agreed. We were in the middle of enjoying the cultivation when I suddenly felt my lower abdomen aching. I sat immediately. Only to be met by the feeling of foreign ache as my period continues to haunt me. I am currently on my period, but it is once in a blue mood when I felt this kind of pain.
”Ahh" I hissed while sitting uncomfortably. Not knowing what to do or how to do.
"Miss Esmeralda? What is wrong? Are you hurt?" Nonno Alejandro asked, quick to jolt around to examine me.
I nod while smiling a little. “It's just my period of the month nonno Alejandro. You don't need to worry. ” I managed to speak between my gritted teeth as I suppressed my dying shout of pain.
Nonno Alejandro nodded but he still looked worried. "Are you in a lot of pain? Can you still stand?"
Him mentioning the 'stand' word made me try it. Unfortunately, I could not bear the gushing and penetrating pain inside mine when I tried. So I just let myself almost lay down on the vacant ground.
"It's somewhat so painful no no Alejandro. It's bearable but I can't do much."
He again nodded. "Do you want me to call a doctor for you?"
"Oh no, that is not necessary nonno Alejandro. I can withstand the pain. Maybe you can still continue to cultivate while I try to settle down the pain?" I suggested so that my period wouldn't be the reason why we, especially nonno Alejandro, weren't able to cultivate flowers.
But he refused. "We need to get you inside miss Esmeralda. You are not comfortable here. That might also be adding up to your pain." he said while looking around. "Is it fine for you if I assist you to walk back to the mansion?"
Thinking of the pain, only getting worse when movements are on, I contemplated. Then I looked at the mansion, it's not far but quite far for an aching woman like me. I then decided to nod. “I think I can manage that. "
As nonno Alejandro assisted me to walk, as if time has a great way of making people meet in the most unexpected yet expected way.
“What is going on?" came the inquisitive rough voice of Mr. Lucretius behind us.
“Ms. Esmeralda is in pain, master. "
"Why? " I feel Mr. Lucretius' eyes on my body. When he did not seem to find anything that looked like a scar, he's brows furrowed." Where? "
Nonno Alejandro looked at me, as if asking for approval to tell him my predicament.
"I am on my period. " I hurriedly replied.
I almost laughed loudly when I saw him become confused and then his furrowed brows came relaxing when the realization hit him." Oh. " was his only response before he looked away." Be careful then. "
Nonno Alejandro and I looked at each other perplexed for some time before his words registered to us. Which means that was only when he was out of sight.
"I believe he is not himself today. " I murmured while I sat. We just arrived at the sofa in the living room that was thrice as big as my room in Singapore.
"I agree ms. Esmeralda. Though I think you have something to do about it. "
"What do you mean, nonno? "
Instead of replying, he merely smiled the you'll-know-it smile, before asking me what other things do I need.
I shake my head as he already gave me warm water which is my natural healer and a hot compress, as well as a menstrual cramp heat pad.
It was almost evening when I awoke. So I felt really good and comfy as I gazed at the stars together by the window. The window was as tall as the wall so the whole spectacle outside would be seen clearly." So heavenly and mesmerizing. " I muttered with sparkling gaze.
"Does it heal your pain away? "
I was almost about to shriek because of the rough voice behind my back. I felt so small compared to him standing in front of me. Mr. Lucretius gazes down at me with the neutral facade. Making me realize just how much I need to heal him yet.
"W-well, I suppose. How long have you been here? Watching the stars? "
He faked a cough with his mouth firmly zipped." Yes. "
"Are you feeling fine? "
He looked perplexed by my question. I thought he would ask why I brought up such a strange question but he didn't. He just nodded his head.
"What do you mean? " I felt like an idiot asking this instead of him." I don't think you look fine. "
"How so? "
I raised my eyebrows at his inquisition." Do you really want me to elaborate on that? " I
He didn't answer. A long walk of silence passed between us." I don't know. " he finally uttered.
"Why can't you? " I began while positioning myself.
"I've felt this since I could remember. But I never know how to describe it. It's as if it is my innate nature. "
"What is? "
