"Besides your dream, is there anything else you want?" David asked again. "Like what?" "Hm, like living with the man you love?" David's words made Diana furrow her brows. "A wish like that?" "Eh, or maybe something like wanting to do something long-term," David realized he had asked a strange question. Diana stared at David for a long time. "I want to always be with my brother." David was taken aback. "Is that so?" "Why?" Diana didn’t understand why she felt David was uncertain about her answer. Maybe it wasn’t the right answer, but Diana was being honest. Right now, Diana didn’t want to be left alone. David nodded. "Alright, you should sleep after I leave your room." Diana didn’t immediately close her eyes. She kept looking at David, who helped pull the blanket up to cover her body. Then David left, and only then did Diana close her eyes as her brother had instructed. Outside the door, David was leaning against the doorframe of Diana's room. ‘I want to always be with my brother.’ David thought about Diana's words. But then he remembered what Dr. Claudia had said. **Flashback** "Diana still can't accept the loss of your parents. For someone like you, David, it may seem excessive because, in reality, you were able to accept it, unlike your sister." "The reason Diana is like this is because, since she was little, she was too dependent on your parents. It's not because she's a spoiled child, but because she set her parents as the purpose of her life. Diana was like a robot programmed to follow or obey her parents. When that purpose is gone, she can fall apart or even be destroyed." "I used to think that she would get better if she met her parents, but it’s not that simple. If it were that simple, Diana wouldn’t have experienced trauma, because many people have similar interactions with their parents, yet they don’t experience excessive trauma." "Diana's mindset is different; that’s the root of the problem." "How do you suggest dealing with this?" David asked. "Diana needs to find a new 'purpose.' I can’t say exactly what it is. But maybe it could be a substitute or a deep desire." "Could I be that possibility?" "About that, I can’t guarantee it. The reality is that she’s still dealing with this even with you around. But I know you can be her support. You need to be by her side because if you also leave, she will experience even more severe trauma. But Diana needs to find her 'purpose' before you can no longer be her support if the situation worsens. I will try to help her find something." "Is it impossible to change Diana’s mindset?" "I haven’t found a way. There are some, but they only have small effects and can’t be permanent." **End of Flashback** ***** Diana raced down the road on her bicycle. The street to school was still quiet this early in the morning. Just as Diana spotted the school gate, she also saw a car stopping in front of the gate. Someone stepped out of the car. Seeing that person, Diana suddenly remembered the debt she owed them. The car then drove away after the person got back inside. Diana continued riding into the school, passed through the gate, and pedaled towards the bike parking area, where she parked her bicycle in the usual spot. After handling things at the bike parking area, Diana immediately searched for the person who had come earlier than her. She found that person heading towards one of the school buildings. Perhaps going to their class. "Hey," Diana greeted while tapping the person’s shoulder lightly. The person stopped and looked to see who had tapped their shoulder. "You," the person said. Diana nodded. "It’s me. I didn’t expect anyone else to come to school earlier than I did." The person merely nodded in response, unsure what to say next. "Have you thought about what you want? You know, I owe you," Diana reminded Revan about the incident on the school stairs. "Oh, that. I’ve thought about it." Diana focused on hearing Revan's wish so she could know how to repay him. "As for this, you don’t need to do anything. It was just an accident." "But..." Diana’s words were cut off. "And actually, you’ve already helped me. When I passed out in the school clinic, you were the one who took responsibility and watched over me. Oh, and you even grabbed my bag and waited with me for my ride." Diana guessed what Revan was going to say next. "So, I think it’s fair now," Revan said, putting his hands in his pants pockets and giving a slightly awkward smile. "And thank you as well." Diana was surprised. Revan smiled at someone else. He, who used to be sensitive and easily angered, fighting with others every day, was now smiling? Diana thought. She knew it wasn’t impossible, but still, Revan smiling was quite rare. ***** "So, I think it’s fair now… And thank you as well." Revan put his hands in his pants pockets and smiled awkwardly. He rarely thanked anyone. It turned out that the cool gesture of putting his hands in his pockets was just a way for him to divert his nervousness. Diana exhaled a small laugh. It only added to Revan’s awkwardness, who was antisocial. "Okay," Diana nodded and began to walk away. Revan watched as Diana walked off. On Diana’s fifth step, she suddenly turned around. The one who had been facing away from Revan now faced him. Now, they were facing each other. "Oh yeah..." Diana spoke up. "I’ve been meaning to ask this from the beginning." Revan waited for Diana to continue. "Did you recognize me when we first met?" Revan paused for a moment and then said, "Sorry..." "It’s okay. I already figured as much," Diana didn’t seem angry. "But you know, I recognized you the first time we met. We went to the same school back in middle school." Revan’s body stiffened. He tensed upon hearing those words. Back in middle school, he was surely seen as a bad person by most of the people who knew him. "Turns out, you've changed a lot." Revan clenched his hands that were still in his pockets. Revan looked down, thinking to himself, *So that’s why she seemed uninterested when we met at the library. She already knew my bad traits from back then.* "You were a good person before, and now you’ve become even better, a truly good person." What?! Revan was sure he heard Diana wrong or maybe it was him mishearing. Revan was still processing Diana’s words when Diana waved her hand. Revan stood frozen. Diana waved as she walked away, but she was walking backward. Diana also gave Revan a calm smile, a carefree smile that had rarely appeared since the passing of Diana's parents. Revan opened his mouth, "Wait!" Diana stopped and listened to Revan’s words, waiting for what he would say next.
