Chapter 16 Doom's Day

They were in their hotel room, packed on one side; at the side of the window.
Ruby was glued to his computer, while the other four of them circled around him like they were waiting for a surprise bag to be torn apart.
Laid on the table was a portable scanner that had blue light beaming beneath it, and Valentine's bio card was placed on it.
The silence grew with each click as they grew curious to uncover her identity, but with a tiny patience, they waited, Except one person.
"Hey be fast, I don't have all the time on earth…" Hector said. Josef threw him a look and he comported at once. "I mean, we" he cleared his throat.
The operation seemed to be coming to an end as the operator's fingers went on to click on different keys on the keyboard, and had one finger click on the enter key. Multiple lines of code were drawn out. They looked at each other with confusion.
"Ruby… what's that supposed to mean?" Josef questioned.
"That's how it reads. Only a machine can read it…"
"And we do not have the machine"
Josef hit his hand on the table. "Damn it Ruby, Why didn't you tell me?! We should have had everything complete." He panced around the room and went to the wine cabinet and poured himself a glass of wine.
"When a man gets angry he drinks alcohol. But Josef , drinks a fruit red wine…" he chuckled.
"Nonsense guy, there's alcohol in the wine" Nicholas interfered.
"I mean, is not alcoholic, like it doesn't make you feel high or drunk, it ha—"
"Shut up Hector! Josef snarled at him.
He nodded his head and raised his hands in the air. "Of course, so you don't break the glass this time on my head"
"Crazy" Nicholas scoffed.
After a moment of grave silence had passed, Achilles went to Ruby "Hey Ruby, what do we need?"
"Me."
"What do you mean?"
"I never said I couldn't do it. I just said there's a line of code only a machine could read, and we do not have it, I didn't say we couldn't read it. And Josef here wouldn't chill…" Ruby said, and they all looked at Josef .
Josef stared at them with his eyebrows pinched up, without saying a word… he stood and went close to Ruby. "Oh my boy. How did I even forget that you are a machine yourself" he patted his shoulders. Ruby smiled, and went back to work.
"Just a minute" he concluded.
"What do we do to Josef temper?" Hector asked staring at the ceiling with his hand drawn to his chin.
"Here we go, again" Nicholas said with a sigh.
"Wild animals in the zoo that are aggressive get's caged up and chained up… hmm does anyone else get the vibe that I'm getting?"
"So you are saying that Josef should be—"
"Hmm I didn't say anything of such I was just…" Josef growled and hasted to his way. He jumped off of the chair and ran to the back.
"Hey hey, you all hold him! The animal is out of the cage!"
"I'm done!" Ruby said out loud, and Josef retreated from his attack. Hector exhaled and smiled.
"What have we got?" He asked Ruby, looking into the computer.
Ruby clicks out a window. Josef chuckled. "She is on the 30% tuition, time to cut a tree."

Lina excorted Valentine out of the school premises to the street to get a cab home.
"Is really been a fun week with you, Lina. I will miss you" Valentine said.
"Aww I will miss you more." They buried themselves into each other's arms with a smile.
"So you are going to see your mom, right?" Valentine asked.
"Yes, sure. I don't miss any weekend."
"Greet her for me" Valentine grinned.
"Of course. Mom must know of my new girlfriend" she said with a wide smile.
Valentine frowned her face. "Not just new g—"
"Omg I'm sorry! …" Lina chuckled. "My best friend for life!"
"That's right baby!"
"Well, see you on Monday" she said as a cab pulled over. Valentine waved her good bye and dropped into the car.

The new week had started like any other, but there was a peculiar feeling added for everyone. Josef, who was going to make the new week his winning week.
Valentine and Lina, who couldn't keep each other out of their minds and hearts. The girls, in a short period, had grown a strong liking for each other, and an inseperable bond was being formed.
Valentine had arrived to school with a cheerful face and a joyful heart and grew a barrier in her ear from side talks from students walking into the school, both good and bad.
As she walked into the first building, her eyes matched first to the signing scanner… she walked up to it.
"Good morning Mrs!" She greeted the front desk receptionist who looked at her and just modded her head. "Today is monday, you should be smiling" she muttered.
She placed her finger on the scanner, and a red error message beeped out on the screen. She pin pointed her eyebrows and tried again… the same error message appeared. Bewildered, she walked up to the desk to complain.
"Excuse me, Ma'am I just wanted to sign in and it is showing me an error message, I've been trying and the same thing keeps appearing. Are the computer systems on maintenance or what? What's wrong with it? But today is Monday, every thing should be working fine" she said in a hasty worried voice. The receptionist had been staring at her all the while.
"Calm down…" she said. "What did you say is the problem?" She asked like all she had been saying wasn't entering her ears.
Valentine sighed. She wanted to walk out, but it seemed to be an urgent situation. "There is an error message I'm getting each time I place my finger to scan"
"What says the error message?"
Valentine's lips parted for speech, but she hadn't even paid attention to what the error message said. She drove her hand on her head, sighed, and walked back to the scanner.
She placed her finger hoping that it would be right this time, but it was the same message.
"It says doesn't exist? What's that suppose to mean?" She asked nervously.
The receptionist dropped whatever she was doing. "What did you do this time?"
Valentine got confused, and nervous. "What I did? I have done nothing, nothing at all that would make the sick computer fail to scan my biometrics."
The receptionist shook her head. "No, is not sick. What did you say it said again?"
"Doesn't exist"
"And that's why I'm asking you what you have done to them? This is not the first time this is happening, and it ends the same way"
"I did nothing!" She yelled. "Ends the same way? how?"
"You have been expelled."
