Chapter 21 Last but Not Least `✧

Just a memory ''
Two years had passed.
Marlowe was now 18 years old, and Easton had turned 19. The world around them had changed, but their promise remained.
Everthorns had grown stronger under Marlowe’s influence, while Drach had flourished with Easton’s rule. Their engagement had remained intact, but the weight of duty loomed over them more than ever.
Now, as the time for their long-awaited union approached, a new storm began to brew.
As Marlowe prepared for her final journey to Drach, where she would soon become Queen, an unexpected letter arrived at Everthorns Castle.
It was sealed with the royal crest of Mage—Lord Frederick’s kingdom.
King Alden opened the letter in the presence of Queen Evera, Princess Marlowe, and Princess Seraphine. His expression darkened as he read the contents aloud.
"This is a formal objection to the union between Princess Marlowe of Everthorns and King Easton of Drach. The house of Mage declares that the engagement is illegitimate and demands a re-evaluation of the arrangement. Lord Frederick will arrive in Everthorns within the fortnight to discuss this matter in person."
Marlowe clenched her fists. “Again?” she muttered under her breath.
Queen Evera remained silent, but her eyes flickered with something close to expectation.
King Alden sighed and turned to Marlowe. “What do you want to do?”
Marlowe straightened her back and spoke with unwavering resolve.
“I will go to Drach immediately. Easton and I will face this together.”
Marlowe wasted no time. She packed only what was necessary and set out for Drach with a small escort, including Seraphine.
Upon arriving at the castle gates, the guards immediately recognized her and let her through. She strode with purpose, her heart pounding—not from fear, but from the anticipation of seeing Easton again.
As she entered the grand hall, she spotted him standing at the far end, discussing matters with his advisors. The moment he saw her, his sharp expression softened.
"Marlowe?" he called, stepping toward her.
Without hesitation, she crossed the distance and grasped his hands. "We have a problem."
She handed him the letter from Mage. As Easton read it, his expression darkened. He tore the parchment in half without a second thought.
"They think they can interfere?" his voice was cold, his stance firm. "Then let them come."
Marlowe nodded. "I will not let them take this from us."
Easton’s gaze met hers, burning with fierce devotion.
"Then we stand together."

Two years had passed since Marlowe and Easton had made their promise to one another. Their bond had only grown stronger, and the trials they faced proved their devotion. Marlowe had completed her training under Genevieve, learning the intricacies of ruling, diplomacy, and leadership. She had transformed from a determined princess into a formidable future queen.
As the day of their wedding approached, Everthorns and Drach prepared for the grand event. The political turmoil surrounding their engagement had settled, and both kingdoms embraced the union that would solidify their alliance.
On the morning of the wedding, Marlowe stood before her reflection, her heart pounding. She wore a gown woven with the colors of Everthorns and Drach, symbolizing the unity between the two kingdoms. Seraphine stood beside her, adjusting the delicate veil.
“You’re ready,” Seraphine said softly, her eyes filled with pride. “You’ve always been ready.”
Marlowe smiled, grasping her sister’s hand. “I had to be.”
As she walked down the grand hall of the Everthorns palace, where the ceremony would take place, she saw Easton standing at the altar, dressed in royal attire, his expression unwavering. The moment their eyes met, a sense of peace washed over her.
Before the gathered nobles and citizens, vows were exchanged, and their fates were sealed. Easton took her hands in his, his voice steady.
“I have loved you in every way possible,” he said. “From the moment we made our promise, I knew you were the only one meant to stand by my side.”
Marlowe’s voice was firm yet filled with emotion. “I have chosen you, just as you have chosen me. And I will

Years passed, and under the reign of King Easton and Queen Marlowe, Drach flourished. Their love, once tested by trials and betrayals, became the foundation of a peaceful and prosperous kingdom.
Princess Roxanne, the eldest, grew into a fierce yet kind-hearted woman, embodying her mother’s wisdom and her father’s strength. She trained alongside knights and diplomats, preparing to take on royal duties.
Princess Joane, always graceful and diplomatic, became the kingdom’s voice of reason, ensuring that peace remained between Drach and Everthorns.
Prince Michael, the firstborn son, possessed his father’s commanding presence and his mother’s intelligence. His future as the next king was undeniable, yet he carried himself with humility, always learning from those before him.
And the precious little one, Princess Cassaline, was the heart of the family—full of curiosity and joy, bringing laughter to the castle halls.
On the tenth anniversary of their reign, Easton and Marlowe stood atop the castle’s highest tower, looking over their kingdom. The sun cast a golden glow over Drach, its lands filled with prosperity and harmony.
Easton turned to Marlowe, his eyes filled with the same unwavering love he had for her since their youth. “We’ve come a long way,” he said, intertwining his fingers with hers.
Marlowe smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder. “And we will go even further. Together.”

The end.
