Chapter 40: "Triple the Blessing"

The soft hum of the clinic’s waiting room was a far cry from the whirlwind of emotions Romi had felt since discovering her pregnancy. Three months had passed since they found out, and every day had brought a mix of excitement, fear, and anticipation. Sebastian, ever the supportive presence by her side, squeezed her hand gently as they sat together on the comfortable chairs, waiting for their turn.
Romi had gotten used to the changes in her body, but the news of being pregnant had never quite settled in her heart. Every morning, she was reminded that life was different now. But this ultrasound was the moment that would confirm it all, that would finally make the baby feel real.
“Are you sure you're okay?” Sebastian asked softly, his voice tinged with concern as he brushed a loose strand of hair from Romi’s face.
Romi smiled at him, her fingers tightening around his. “I’m fine. Just... a little nervous, I guess.”
Sebastian gave her a reassuring smile. “Whatever happens, we’re in this together. You’re not alone.”
The nurse called their name, and they both stood, following her to the examination room. The sterile smell of antiseptic filled the air, mixing with the warmth of the room. Romi lay back on the examination table, her eyes scanning the ceiling as she felt the cool gel being applied to her abdomen. Sebastian stood beside her, his hand resting lightly on her shoulder.
The doctor, a calm and experienced woman named Dr. Reyes, smiled at them as she picked up the ultrasound wand. “Ready to see your baby?” she asked, looking at them with a knowing look.
Romi nodded, her breath hitching as the first images began to appear on the screen. The sound of the baby’s heartbeat filled the room, and Romi's chest swelled with emotion as she held Sebastian’s hand tighter, her eyes glued to the screen.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.
The doctor moved the wand slightly, adjusting the angle to get a better view. The smile on her face began to fade, replaced by an expression of surprise.
“Hm. That’s strange,” Dr. Reyes murmured, leaning in closer. She adjusted the wand again, trying to get a better look at what she had seen.
Romi and Sebastian exchanged a glance, both of them wondering what could be causing the doctor’s confusion. “Is everything okay?” Romi asked, a hint of worry creeping into her voice.
The doctor paused for a moment, her brow furrowing slightly. “I just... I want to confirm something. Hold on one second.”
The tension in the room was palpable as the doctor took a few more measurements, then looked up with a stunned expression.
“Well,” she began, her voice soft but filled with surprise, “it seems we have a little more than we anticipated.”
Romi blinked, not understanding. “What do you mean?”
Dr. Reyes smiled warmly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “You’re going to be parents of triplets.”
For a moment, everything seemed to freeze. Romi’s eyes widened, her mouth slightly agape as she looked up at Sebastian, who was just as stunned. Triplets? Three babies? The thought hadn’t even crossed her mind.
Sebastian let out a breath, his eyes darting between Romi and the doctor. “Wait... triplets? Are you sure?”
The doctor nodded, pointing at the screen. “I’m certain. You have three heartbeats here, and I’m seeing three babies. Congratulations—your family is about to grow in a very big way.”
Romi sat up slowly, her hand instinctively going to her stomach as a wave of disbelief washed over her.
“Three...?”
Sebastian, still trying to process the news, squeezed her hand tighter. “This... this is unbelievable.” His voice was a mixture of shock and awe, his eyes shining with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
Romi’s mind raced. Triplets. She had only ever imagined having one baby at a time. The idea of three was... overwhelming, but the joy and excitement in her heart were undeniable.
“I didn’t think this could happen,” Romi said, her voice soft with wonder. “I thought it was just one baby.”
Dr. Reyes chuckled, understanding her shock. “It’s rare, but it happens. You’ve been blessed with three little ones. And we’ll take great care of you throughout this pregnancy, don’t worry.”
Sebastian looked down at Romi, his eyes filled with love and determination. “We’ll do this together. I’m with you, every step of the way. All three of them are our responsibility now.”
Romi smiled, a mix of emotions flooding her chest. “Three... I’m going to be a mom... to three.”
The reality of it was starting to sink in. There were no more doubts, no more questions. She was going to be a mother to three little lives, and Sebastian was right by her side. They were going to face this journey together, no matter what.
As they left the clinic, their hands tightly clasped, both of them were filled with a sense of awe. Triplets. Their world had just grown in the most unexpected, wonderful way.

Certainly! Here's an additional scene where Romance and Sebastian plan to surprise her parents and family about having triplets, using a little something they purchase to symbolize the big news. Let's capture their excitement and the special moment at the mall.

Romi’s heart was still racing as she and Sebastian left the clinic, the weight of the doctor’s words echoing in her mind. Three babies. It felt surreal, and yet so right.
“I can’t believe it,” Romi murmured, her hand resting gently on her stomach, as if she could already feel the three tiny lives growing inside her.
Sebastian glanced over at her, a proud smile tugging at his lips. “I can’t either. But I can’t wait to tell your family. I want to do something special, though. Something that’ll really let them know how much this means to us.”
Romi’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean?”
Sebastian’s grin grew even wider. “I thought we could buy something to represent them. A little something to celebrate this... miracle.”
Romi’s eyes softened. She loved how Sebastian always had a way of making everything feel special, even the simplest moments. “That sounds perfect.”
Later that afternoon, they walked through the mall together, hand in hand, the excitement in their hearts palpable. Romi hadn’t felt this light and happy in a long time. She knew she’d have her work cut out for her with triplets, but she was more than ready. And Sebastian? He was her rock, as always.
They wandered through a children’s store, the bright colors and adorable clothes making Romi’s heart flutter. Tiny shoes, miniature outfits, baby accessories—everything seemed so perfect, so innocent. It was hard to choose just one thing. But then, they spotted it.
A set of three plush little animals—a bear, a bunny, and a tiger. The three toys were soft, warm, and cuddly, each one symbolizing the three little lives that would soon be a part of their world. Romi’s breath caught in her throat.
“They’re perfect,” she whispered, her eyes welling with tears as she reached out to gently hold the three plush toys in her hands.
Sebastian smiled, standing close behind her. He placed a hand on her shoulder, feeling the weight of the moment settle between them. “I think this is it. These three little ones will be part of our world soon, and these are a reminder of that.”
Romi nodded, a smile spreading across her face. “Let’s get them.”
They walked to the counter together, the plush toys nestled carefully in Romi’s arms. The cashier, a young woman with bright eyes, smiled at them as she rang up the toys.
“You’ve got a lot of love in your arms today!” the saleslady said with a cheerful smile, eyeing the three stuffed animals.
Sebastian chuckled softly, his eyes shining with pride. “Yes, we do,” he said, his voice warm and filled with a quiet joy. “We’re about to have three little ones.”
The saleslady’s eyes widened in surprise. “Triplets? How exciting! Congratulations!”
Romi’s heart fluttered at the words. She hadn’t told many people yet, and hearing it aloud felt so surreal.
“Thank you,” she said softly, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and gratitude.
Sebastian placed the toys in the shopping bag with a smile, holding it carefully as if it were the most precious thing in the world. “We’ve got a lot to look forward to,” he said, his voice filled with quiet determination.
As they walked out of the store, Sebastian pulled Romi close, wrapping an arm around her waist. The three plush animals hung from the shopping bag, a tangible reminder of the life they were about to build together.
“I can’t wait to see their faces when we tell them,” Sebastian said, his tone light but filled with emotion.
Romi leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his presence, and nodded. “Me neither. But we’ll take it one step at a time.”
Sebastian stopped in his tracks and looked at her seriously, the affection in his eyes clear. “You’re going to be an amazing mom. And we’ll be okay. No matter what.”
Romi smiled at him, the soft light of the mall shining around them, casting a glow on their little family. "I know. We’re in this together, Seb."
With their hearts full, they left the mall—two hearts bound by love, preparing for the incredible adventure that lay ahead.
