One day, Alex came up with an idea, he lies to mia that his mother was sick and he needs sixty million to take care of her. Mia felt torn. She had never seen Alex so desperate before. When he told her that his mother was sick and needed urgent treatment, his voice had cracked, and his eyes had looked glossy with unshed tears. "Sixty million, Mia," he had pleaded. "I know it's a lot, but I don’t have anyone else to turn to." She had gone straight to her father, hoping he would understand. But his response had been immediate and cold. "Absolutely not," her father said firmly. "That boy is lying to you." Mia's eyebrows furrowed. "Dad, how can you say that? His mother is sick! He needs help!" Her father scoffed. "Have you even confirmed it yourself? Have you seen his mother in the hospital? Or are you just believing everything he tells you?" Mia hesitated. She hadn’t actually seen Alex's mother. But why would Alex lie about something so serious? "I trust him," she said quietly. Her father sighed, rubbing his temples. "Mia, you are too naive. That boy is only after one thing—money. And if you can't see it now, you will soon enough." Mia clenched her fists. "Fine. If you won’t help him, I will." Her father gave her a sharp look. "And how exactly do you plan on getting sixty million?" Mia didn’t answer. She turned on her heel and stormed out of the room, pulling out her phone to text Alex. Mia: Dad refused… but don’t worry. I’ll find a way. Alex smirked when he read the message. Perfect. Mia stood at the bank counter, her heart racing. She had never withdrawn such a huge amount before, but she didn’t hesitate. "Sixty million," she told the bank employee. The woman gave her a surprised look. "Are you sure, Miss?" "Yes. Transfer it to this account." Mia handed over a slip with Alex's account details. Minutes later, the transaction was complete. As she stepped out of the bank, she dialed Alex’s number. "It’s done," she said as soon as he picked up. "Check your account." There was silence on the line for a moment, then Alex chuckled. "Wow, Mia… You really did it." "Of course. I told you I’d help," she said, relieved. "How’s your mother?" "She’s… uh, stable for now," Alex said vaguely. "I'll keep you updated." Mia smiled. "Okay. Just let me know if you need anything else." After the call ended, Alex looked at his phone screen, staring at the notification of sixty million deposited into his account. His lips curled into a satisfied smirk. "That was easier than I thought," he muttered. Anna, who had been sitting across from him, narrowed her eyes. "So, you really tricked her?" Alex leaned back in his chair, spinning his phone between his fingers. "It’s not a trick, Anna. It’s just… persuasion. Besides, she’s rich. What’s sixty million to her?" Anna sighed. "You’re playing a dangerous game, Alex." Alex only grinned. "As long as I win, does it matter?" Mia had just arrived home when she heard a loud, angry voice echoing from her father’s study. "Sixty million?! She withdrew sixty million without my permission?" Her heart dropped. She had hoped he wouldn’t notice so soon, but clearly, that was wishful thinking. Taking a deep breath, she stepped toward his study, knowing she had no choice but to face him. The moment she entered, her father slammed his phone onto his desk. His face was red with fury. "Where did the money go, Mia?" he demanded. Mia hesitated but then squared her shoulders. "I gave it to Alex." Her father’s eyes darkened. "For what?" "His mother is sick. He needed money for her treatment," Mia explained, her voice firm. Her father scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief. "And you just believed that?" Mia frowned. "Of course! Why would he lie about something like that?" Her father stood up, walking around his desk. "Because he wants your money, Mia!" His voice was sharp. "I told you this before, but you refuse to listen!" Mia clenched her fists. "Alex isn’t like that. He loves me!" Her father let out a bitter laugh. "Love? You’re so blinded by it that you can’t even see what’s happening right in front of you." Mia felt her throat tighten. "You’re wrong." Her father exhaled, clearly frustrated. "Fine. You don’t believe me? Then let’s find out the truth." He picked up his phone and made a call. "Daniel," he said to his most trusted guard. "I need you to look into Alex and his so-called sick mother. Find out everything." Mia’s heart pounded. She wanted to believe in Alex, but for the first time, doubt crept into her mind. What if… her father was right?
