They went to a private meeting room as soon as they arrived at the hotel where his fiancee’s father is waiting. When they entered the room, a man in his fifties is sitting on the chair at the end of the table. The woman that brought them is the man’s secretary.
“Daddy!” she ran to hug the man.
“Hello, my little girl.”
“Daddy. I’m not little anymore. I’m a woman now.” the man just laugh and patted her. Then Alexander approached him and they shake their hands.
“Nice to see you, Alexander.” The man said.
“Same to you sir Robert Alonso.”
“No need to be so formal. Now let’s have a seat.”
Everleigh sat back next to him. She was clinging to him the whole time. They talked about their business and other things she did abroad. Then he pulled out an envelope and laid it on the table.
“What is this?” Robert said.
“It’s our agreement papers, as well as the engagement. I want to break off the engagement.”
“Why?!” Everleigh said.
“Tell me why, Alexander.”
“I have found myself a lover. She is the one I want to marry and spend the rest of my life with. Your daughter deserved someone who will love her.”
“You know what will happen if we cut our ties.”
“Yes, I am aware.”
“No! Daddy no!” Everleigh stood up and hold Robert’s arms, convincing him not to agree.
“Then I will sign this… if… my daughter will stay in this country for three months. You will be with her. If your choice is still the same after spending time with her, then I will approve this.”
He went silent for a while. If he will be with Everleigh for three months, Chantria will be left there alone. But he had no plans in telling her this. She must not know.
“Okay.”
He stood up, grabbed his coat, and walked to the door. He closed it behind him without a word. Everleigh sat there stunned, her face covered in tears. A few minutes passed when she could no longer hold back and started crying, not noticing the tears falling from her face. A few minutes passed until someone knocked.
He went to his office and Harvin was there.
“How did it go?”
“Robert gave a condition. I must spend time with his daughter while she’s staying here for three months.” He sighed and laid back on his chair.
“What?! Three months? Then what about the enchantress?”
“I’m to ask you to take care of her. She must not know about this. This will end eventually and after that, I’m going to ask her to marry me.”
“Okay, okay. I’m on it. I sent more men to the house and I will visit her.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. This is so stressful for him.
The next day came and he went to the hotel to pick up Everleigh. They will be going wherever she wants. She wanted a trip to an island that was far from the city. She has a lot of plans for their trip so he won’t have much time to call the house.
Everleigh was ready to go, her makeup done nicely with a few strands of hair falling over her face.
“What do you want to get done first?”
He just shrugged nonchalantly, not looking up from his phone. Everleigh rolled her eyes and sent one last text before setting his phone down.
“Let’s go. the plane is ready.” He said, leading her out of the room and to the car waiting outside.
As soon as they were buckled up, Everleigh let the words flow out of her mouth.
“I can’t believe I’m spending a week on your private island.”
He didn’t say anything and just drove to the airport. He doesn’t like the idea in the first place but she insisted. He sighed and agreed. He wanted to end this quickly so he could go to the woman he truly love. When they got there, they placed their luggage inside and took a rest.
A week had passed and Everleigh was pouting while they were heading back to the city. The whole week they were there, he didn’t do anything but just look at his phone or do some work. She was so upset and embarrassed about all the things she did. She tried seducing him but he had no reaction. Her body is very beautiful and if any man could see her, they would surely be under her charm but not Alexander. She didn’t have a chance with him but the fact that he’s so indifferent to her feelings. Every time they are alone, she asks why he ignores her.
‘He must have hated me so much.’ She thought. She felt like crying, she really thought that one day she will have a man love her like she loves him but it seems like she doesn’t even stand a chance anymore. she knows how hard it was for him to be there with her but that didn’t mean Alexander had to be rude with her. As soon as she got back to the hotel, she cried for hours on end. But she still continued meeting with him the next day.
Then weeks turned to two months. He still has a month left and he could be any happier. Whenever he felt lonely, he would look at her pictures on his phone. Harvin would update him and sent him pictures of her. Then he stopped scrolling at the picture of them together when they were riding a horse together. It had been such a long time since they’d spent time like this together. Just hanging out together, enjoying each other’s company, and spending time together without the need to do anything else. It was perfect. He missed her so much. He’s been away for too long.
In the past few days, he noticed that Harvin was not making an update anymore. He wondered where he was and what was he doing. He did not report to him personally after sending him to the house to stay there and he will take care of his work for now. It is one of the reasons to make excuse for Everleigh. But she was going to his office instead and spending time there. He had no choice but to let her do what she wants.
He was in his bed lying on his tired body. Eventually, his phone rang.
‘It’s been a long time, Alex.’
“Gunther. What do you want?”
‘Oh! I just want to tell you that I have taken back what was mine. Thank you for taking care of her. She looked well. That’s all Alex. Uh… wait. Take good care of my beloved cousin, kay? Bye.’
Gunther ended the call without letting him talk. He tightened the grip on his phone and shouted angrily. Now, what would he do? Harvin is missing and Chantria is with Gunther.
