Chapter 12 TWELVE

“What do you mean Gunther’s not dead,” Chantria asked him.
“Well, I did shoot him and ordered him to throw his body in the ocean. But he is alive. And I don’t know where he is yet.”
“Why? Why didn’t you kill him? You have the chance. Wouldn’t you want revenge for what he had done to you?”
“What about you?”
“I just want my heart back.”
“Then let’s have a deal. I’ll give you your heart back. Trust me.”
“What do you want in return?”
“You. I want you to stay by my side.”
“No, I can’t do that. Once I have my heart back, I’m going to return to my world.”
“Are you coming back… here once you’ve returned?”
“Never again.”
She took a sip of her tea and looked at the flowers on the side. They remained silent for a while, then Alexander spoke.
“Okay. Then I’ll think of something else then. How about… something that can only be found in your world. Like… a dagger? So, do we have a deal?” he said and held out his hand. She looked at his hand and grabbed it.
“Deal.”
And got surprised by his action. He held it tightly and kissed the top of her hand. Then slowly, let her go.
He’s smiling at the thought of her. He is in his study room with Harvin. Turns out, that Harvin did not leave the house and just stayed there when he made him go away.
“So… how was it?” Harvin asked.
“We made a deal.”
“Okay…?”
He takes a deep breath before speaking again.
“Harvin. I know this is going to sound weird but… I think I’m in love with her. She said that when she’ll have her heart back, she’ll never come back here again. So… I’m planning to make her fall in love with me. No matter what.”
It seems that Harvin understands because he laughs.
“Do you think it will work?”
“We’ll find out.” He blows the smoke out of his mouth.
The cigar in his hand burned as they both exhaled, eyes glancing at each other before they both let out their breath. He must have been stressed out knowing he’s smoking.
“I hope it does,” he said softly.
“It will, and that’s all that matters. We have to be prepared though. If nothing else, this way we can’t make things worse than they are now.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s him. He got him.”
He clenched his teeth and inhaled a lot of smoke, he smacked the table, before letting it out. He is furious. Everything is getting out of his hand. After he shot Gunther and was ordered to throw his body into the ocean, he asked his cousin to take his body and treat him.
*****
Hanna shouldn’t be doing this because she has more important things to do than this but since he promised to help her, she must reciprocate. Just as Alexander said, Gunther’s body is somewhere on the beach and she found him behind the rocks. Now her only problem is how to get him inside her car without anyone seeing. She’s got a plan for that though, she’s got to get into the back seat first before someone sees her carrying him in. It’s not easy, especially with someone like him, but she does it. The last thing she wants to do is have people ask her why she has blood all over her.
When she gets in, Gunther is unconscious and barely alive. He looks like hell, there are bruises all over and the other cuts from where he was caught in the surf were already closing. But even though she applied first aid, he still bleeding from his shot. If this keeps going, he’ll surely die. His clothes are covered in sand and seawater and she knows there’s no way that can be good since she’s a doctor. That’s one of the reasons why Alexander asked her favor. She drove to her house as fast as she could.
She arrived at her house and carried him inside. She’s thankful it’s already dark and no one could see what she was doing or else she will be misconceived by her neighbors. She laid him on the and saw the wound has stopped bleeding. She took his shirt off and looked at the bullet hole. It’s huge but not life-threatening. At least it hasn’t gone deeper, so she hoped that’s enough. After taking some more supplies, she was able to stitch it successfully and bandaged him up tightly, and put her things away. After changing his clothes, she cleaned herself and took a bath.
She walked through the living room and saw the clock says eleven. Her stomach growled and reminded her of dinner. She went through her fridge in the kitchen and there were plenty of eggs and fresh vegetables. Then made herself something edible. After putting everything on two plates, she walked toward the dining table and sat down. She had eaten quickly and now felt completely full, although not sleepy yet. As she finished eating, she went back to the room where Gunther is with the other plate in her hand.
A few minutes later, Gunther woke up and groaned painfully. He tried to sit up but immediately fell back on the bed when the sudden movement made him nauseous.
“Don’t move too much. You lost a lot of blood,” she warned gently.
He didn’t speak, just grunted. He stared out of the window, trying to make sense of the events earlier.
“Who are you?” he asked after a long silence.
“My name’s Hanna. No need to thank me for saving you. I’m just doing what I was told.”
Gunther looked at her for a few moments as he tried to comprehend what she had just said.
“By who?”
“It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are safe now and you should eat something.”
Gunther sighed and reluctantly took another bite, making sure he wouldn’t choke. As soon as he finished, Hanna walked outside and come back with some pills. She put them on a tray and gave them to him.
“Take these, they help with the pain.” Gunther nodded and swallowed the pills.
“I’ll leave you alone now,” she left quietly and closed the door behind her.
The next morning, Gunther awoke, as usual, only to find himself fully bandaged. He tried to sit up, but he couldn’t move his arms. He tried once again, only to realize his wrists were strapped to the bed.
“What the f*ck?!”
There was suddenly knocking on the door and Hanna poked her head into the room.
“What is this?”
“I had to make sure you are not going anywhere.”
“What? I need to go back!”
“I know.” She said and checked his vitals and changed the IV.
“You can go back when your body has healed.”
He sighed in defeat and lay back down on the pillow. It hadn’t been that long since he’d gotten injured. The wounds weren’t even that bad now. If anything, they were healing pretty fast too. They’d be gone soon enough.
“I’m hungry. Feed me,” he said not looking at her.
She give him an annoying look but turned around, leaving for the kitchen. When she was making soup, her phone rang. She looked at the screen and smiled when she saw her cousin’s number. ‘Finally, he called.’ She thought.
‘How is he?’
“I managed to keep him alive.” She said and rolled her eyes.
‘That’s good. Where did you bring him?’
“In my house.”
‘Okay. Keep him there for now.’
“Until when?”
‘I’ll tell you.”
She ended the call and continued what she was doing.
